For anyone that doesn't know, Jay Cunning made a 2 part interview with Ron Wells a few years back (available on Soundcloud). Definitely worth a listen for anyone interested!
I remember listening to that ! Fantastic interview , before the covaids nonsense .. didn’t he produce “A trip to trumpton“ as well ? Legend ! Massive track for U18’s rave in 92’ .
Hi Jake Finally got round to listening to this episode….well worth the wait!! 🎯 You forget just how many tunes Ron was involved in…..amazing tunes! Just bought “Set me Free” he did under the citizen Kaned alias…..🎯💥🎶
Absolute Quality Jake ..... love all them tracks but my personal fave is plight of the inovators, not only does it scramble and un scramble your head at the same time but the track name is genius ❤❤❤❤❤
It's pretty much impossible to pick a favourite out of the tunes Ron worked on, since so many of them are classics. I'll always have a soft spot for We Are Unity though!
You could probably have an all-nighter with 10 different Dj’s just playing the works of Ron Wells / Basement and it would kick the dick out of any fake rave/edm bullshit of today ! Great channel , much love 😎
I interviewed Ron a few years back for Ransom Note online magazine and his responses were fantastic and made for an amazing read and insight. Think it was quite cathartic for him as he got all of it off his chest as well 😀 Amazing, amazing tunes and such a stamp of quality across all of them (and there are a lot of them!).
Class! Being a bit of a production geek, these tunes sound so well made. I could be wrong but there's real synths and drum machines at play here with meticulous sampled breaks. Well sequenced and produced with a nice sheen of quality. Obviously love the sample heavy lofi sound of the day too, but Ron's tunes sound on a different level! Thanks for the great showcase and excellent mix! 👌
Yeah great that you appreciate them on that level. I remember back in the early 90's when these tunes first came out, I knew nothing at all about where they came from or how they were made...all I knew was that something magical was happening. ❤️
Got so much love for Ron Wells. Been blessed to work with him also. Not often someone is responsible for creating and pioneering a new genre in Jungle Techno like he did. He has such a strong musical DNA, what I mean by this is lots have collaborated with him (including myself), and the end product is just so heavily Ron Wells sounding it's foundational. He has a very very strong sonic blueprint! He brushes aside the legend status we all hold for him. He states that there are far superior musicians in the world for that title. But the fact is the Rave and early D&B Jazz evolution, Ron has left a massive impact in both, undisputed and understated and continues to do so today. I urge you check his recent creations in both styles. He changed my life in a positive way and I'll forever be an admire and friend of his! Love your channel by the way, you should do a newer style Jungle Techno series. Plenty of great tunes still being made! ❤ 😉
@@rave-vinyl-reminiscence yeah was a magical time to work with Ron back in 2018. I'll link you some discogs releases links as the videos will be on there.

Can I just say that back in the day hearing Ratty play More IQ was a religious experience for me. still gives me chills, pure Detroit vibes. well done Ron
Ah great shout doing this Jake. Before my mid life crisis I didn't quite realise how important Ron was for the scene, not being a man on the usual tape packs I bought back in the day as a kid. Didn't know he was a great DJ too. Thanks Jake and keep it up!! Ollie
11:35 - if my ears and memory are to be trusted, I reckon this break has been lifted, changed and re used in loads of dance tracks, or many are similar (good things are just good things always 😂)
Can't wait for the full mix on this. When you say the midas touch Ron Wells absolutely had that more than anyone else i can think of. Not one even ok tune let alone a bad one just 100% bangers. Is a Tango tribute in the pipeline ?🙏

Bloody hell...yeah I see what you mean 😆
More VIP than RIP mate
About 80% of my favourite tunes turn out to be the product of Ron Wells under an alias, has to have been the busiest man in rave at the time.
😆 ha yeah

Right bunch of shaggers
