The first one shouldn't even be a tip. It should be the first thing to be taught in a Maya class. Also you don't need to set the project once you have created the new one. Maya sets it there automatically. What you should do instead, is close Maya and open it again, in order for it to maintain the new project for the next time. Set project is useful for when you need to change from your current one to another. Setting/creating a project is crucial, because it makes your Maya project portable, and also it tells the software where to retrieve textures and all the assets connected to the scenes you're working on. I would say that setting the project is mandatory. Great video and great tips! Your contents are always top notch!
Yooooo Sir Wade, great seeing you buddy. Dont know if you remember me, Luis Alcala, I was at DreamWorks when you guys were working on Trolls. You taught me a lot about Linux and the software used there. I left with Dramworks Nova where Archie Donato was my boss. Anyway, glad you are doing well. Great video man. Keep it up.
Amazing poster on the workshop... What a talented twitch team. ;D Great video! I wish this existed before I started animation mentor. Set project would've saved me so much time. Oh gosh the zooming too! Finally I can pose fingers without moving my face really close to the monitor ahaha
This is awesome thanks so much for this Sir. The hidden shapes thing is new to me so I’ll have to go back and check it out. Also for anyone reading the Set Project thing is a life saver I always made a habit to make one before starting my shot set up etc. Do It!!!!!!!!!
Hey Sir Wade this was good, even though the most of them I already knew. Could you do these type of videos also about Animation Layers. It is not a problem to find tutorials about this but to find someone who speaks well and precisely is rare. It could also be a basic or also a intermediate explanation of animation Layers. And my opinion is that sometimes the backgorund music is too loud. You have a good voice and not hearing it is bad. Greetings from Cologne/Germany
Id really recommend that once you start getting comfortable in Maya, try learning some basic python scripting. Even if it is just writing a few small things to boost your productivity. There are some really great resources here on youtube already :D
haha good one. Tho two or 3 tips will fix itself when you work in studio environment and pipeline. When we open a scene in maya, the browser automaticly sets the project for you. And we have a playblast script that always blast the .mov or png(if you want blast with alpha) in the right folder with comment and uploads it into shotgun In the hidden menu i was expected the space hotbox or the shift/ctrl rightclick :)
That's because your company has a subscription to Shotgun, which makes everything automated, even the naming convention. His video is for those who work freelance or do not work at all and trying to learn the software.
Wow...didn't know about these options...thanks for the tips video sir Wade...also could u make a few animation or more graph editor videos...your graph editor video was very comprehensive, yet I have a few more doubts in the graph editor overall
Hi. Is there any free auto lip sync for maya? The only one i could find was in Advanced Skeleton plugin. But the problem is that it only supports a given number of languages. So it does not allow my country language. I know other softeare such as iclone which supports automatic lip sync from any voice file regardless of the language. I hope there is a free plugin to do aunatic lip sync in maya.
Hello sir, this video is great ... Thanks for the tips. Btw, I want to know about how to work with play bust and why sometimes perspective viewport getts sputtered when after playing animation (sometime actually) and when after playbust I saw it plays smoothly .. so, why it sluttered when it's playing on the perspective viewport? Will u please make a video on it ... Please
You're asking why your animation stutters when watching in the viewport? That's because Maya is playing your animation in real time, that is, calculation every image as it plays. If your scene is heavy your viewport playback will be slower. In playblast the video is already rendered so it can play in real speed
Bro really teaching us the difference between projects and exports… Millions of programs do this, should not be a Maya-exclusive tip just because you didn’t know it.
hello sir, could you please start the fundamentals of animation course including all the principles of animation at a reasonable price for the international students? It will be a great help for the beginners to learn everything at a place from you. And thanks for these amazing tutorials which make our lives easier.
I have a question sir wade. I am currently a undergraduate in my gaming artist major at my community college in Boston and I am set to graduate next year in spring 2020 and I still don't know which school to apply to. My dream is to one day move out to Cali and work in a big gaming studio like naughty dog or anywhere at a place where I can make a good living doing what i love. I feel kinda lost in life and I've asked a lot of people such as my professor and other graduates that have finished my program on where to go. one graduate from my school said that I should invest in animation mentor and pay the $2000 but I want to also go to school and finish with my 4 year degree and go on with my life. your videos really have been my go to's when it comes to animating and i really am grateful for your content. I was just hoping if you could recommend something or anything man please. I'm really feeling lost on what to do but I like animating.
@@SirWade Thank you dude, I found it. I´m a complite noob so I had to do a little of research. For someone who reads this and wanna know: The hockey editor is in: Windows ---- Settings/preferences ------ hotkeyeditor. In the option for search, type "zoom" and edite the option "togglePanZoomPress"

Wow, I have dabbled with Maya for years and you have shown me that I really don't know that much. Thanks for all you do. Keep 'em coming!!
I mainly work traditional but working on maya has been so much fun and it’s a great way to beef up my portfolio

I never knew about the last one, thanks lol
I don't remember anything like hidden menus with a gear and a pipe in Maya. Amazing. But layers are very helpful.
They've been there since years.

Number 4 layers tip instead of using layers
You can also use ctrl+ 1 if you want to focus on one object instead this is best for modelling an object
I love using layers. It makes stuff easy.
14:29 yeah! Deleting Maya prefs always helps 😂
aaaaaahhh that first tip was so useful
I could have never figured out how to use that 2d pan even though the button was there and I knew what ti was for. Thanks!
