- Greek island of Amorgos - abandoned medieval village of Asfondilitis on Amorgos island, in Greece. Let's visit the beautiful Greek island of Amorgos and the abandoned village of Asfondilitis. Asfondilitis village, on the Greek island of Amorgos, is a deserted village on a rocky plateau. Most of the abandoned houses of the village of Asfondilitis have now been turned into stables. Before the turn of the 20th century the village of Asfondilitis used to be an important agricultural place on the island. The village now offers an impressive view on the south part of Amorgos and an incredibly peaceful atmosphere.
It is now especially known for the mysterious carved drawings that cover the stones over the entrances of the houses, Asfondilitis village is a place to see.
The people that once lived there were working only with cattle-raising and they had many flocks of cows and sheep and some of them had also beehives.
In the beginning of the 20th century, there was a man by the name of Michalis Roussos who left his art on the big stones, on the walls of the houses.
Amorgos is the easternmost island of the Cyclades island group and the nearest island to the neighbouring Dodecanese island group in Greece.

Hello, thank you for watching my videos and for your wonderful comments!! 👍👍👍
@@VicStefanu Hi Vic thank you and yes I wonder had you visited the place late at night walking through very old dwellings and what lurks around next room. I suspect in its hayday a thriving place to live and now a 👻 ghostly quiet place steeped in history with a lot of secrets to tell.. 👍 👍
@@easyrider7694 lol... I would not dare going there at night.. It is a very safe place (crime-wise) but too deserted and I did not want any loose dogs (or donkeys) to go after me...
@@VicStefanu Yes best not vic stay brave while hot dog and donkey would of made of meal of it between the ghostly ruins at night time. So yes i think you made executive decision by raising a eye brow lol haha 😂

I found the abandoned site (guarded by Greek Soldiers) early 1981 🙋♂️
H John, were you visiting this village in 1981 and it was guarded by soldiers? If so, do you know why they were there?
@@VicStefanu Good morning Vic. The Greek Soldiers are present at undisclosed ‘finds’ to ensure no looting or damage committed to Greeks heritage 🤫
@@Threetwocharlie Ok, thank you! 👍👍👍
