    I am impressed of how you demonstrate the features, not just saying that they are there. ALOT of the reviews are geared for the person that knows the jargon.
    And can instinctively know what buttons to push, and what they do.
    I am not that person. I wish someone would develop a training app for a vertual machine for the TouchMix 30 pro.
    Thank you for your efforts. .. and good work. ..

    this console is extremely powerful. i am a freelance a/v tech in toronto and using the ipad app, i discovered all the features that are not easily seen on the unit itself.
    great little desk. if they made a remote 32 channel head for i/o it would be amazing.
    they could do it for pennies, and make millions.

    My Phones jack isn't working and I can't find it in settings where to pick what you route to it. I see the volume adjust up or down when you tap one the heaphone button - but no details on routing channels to it.
    Now I use the 1/4 Aux 3 and 4 to use with headphones but I thought Phones was all channels.

    Great review! BTW, have you tested the mic pre's?

    • @DcSoundOp
      @DcSoundOp  6 лет назад

      Richard Amoroso Thanks Richard! So the mic pre thing... it’s a very popular question, but one that’s mostly impossible to answer. On a digital console, how do you isolate the pre from the rest of the signal chain? How do you decide if it’s the preamp stage or the a/d converter or the signal chain as a whole that you want to credit or blame for what you hear.
      I’ve had people who complain “x-console has noisy pres” on gigs, but then I see them mix and their gain structure is bananas... so I tend to take those opinions cautiously as well.
      I’m not saying that a good pres are without merit, only that marketing over the years has put WAY too much emphasis on ‘great pres’ or ‘xxx designed pres’ (I’m looking at you Midas!) for it to mean anything anymore.

    Hi, how do you setup DR-05 for recording from mixer? Do you use some kind of pad or just lower the input sensitivity?

    • @DcSoundOp
      @DcSoundOp  7 лет назад

      Hi Milko, with the DR-05 I simply turn the input down like you suggested. I always carry one of these cables in my bag amzn.to/2mP2XnR for connecting a mono feed to these types of small recorders.
      It never hurts to have a pad or two on hand for unusual situations, I've always been a fan of the old-school Shure pads - amzn.to/2mP4oT6
      A company I work for used to have an OLD soundcraft mixer (if I remember correctly) that had no pads built in, & they would carry a bin of like 16 or 24 of those Shure pads with the mixer!! That's nearly $1k in pads for a mixer that wasn't worth nearly that much. The mixer is long gone, but those pads are still going strong!

    I'm deciding between this and the Allen & Heath Qu Pac. These are both fairly complicated products but I will mainly use this for corporate conference settings where there are lots of wireless microphones and I would ideally like to lessen the feedback for a clean main out but also have a solid channel-isolated recording. Both this and the Qu-Pac will do the job, but I don't know if I'll need the dSnake option on the A&H mixer, but that seems to make it feel more future proof (but 16 XLR channels seems like a lot already anyway and the TouchMix 16 is very light in weight compared to the QuPac)

    • @DcSoundOp
      @DcSoundOp  7 лет назад

      Thanks for the message. It sounds like you've still got some deciding to do on the features (like a digital snake) that are going to be the most important to you. If a digital snake is something you're thinking you'll want down the line, I'd start moving that direction now.
      I'm not experienced with the Qu Pac, but there are lots of other similarly priced options (Midas, Behringer etc.) for that type of configuration. Maybe find someone who can rent or loan you one to try out before you spend big money on a whole setup.
      Thanks for watching!

    • @richcerezo
      @richcerezo 7 лет назад

      Thanks for the response, I will probably have to test extensively. The digital snake seems to be a much more solid option so I can have a stage box with about 12 wired mics.
      From my research I noticed some people saying that the TouchMixes get hot and also eventually become somewhat unstable. i.e. random shut downs. Has this happened to you at all?
      Also, to add something new to the mix is that I really like the RTA function on the QSC mixers (I saw this somewhere for the TM16 & TM30). However, I think a dbx Driverack PA2 is what I'm leaning towards together with the Qu-Pac.

  • @villapinstriping

    I need help is there a way for me to get the mixer to output into a mic that can be connect to a laptop? I have several mic that are attach to the mixer but I need it to connect to the laptop mic as a single source.

    • @DcSoundOp
      @DcSoundOp  3 года назад +1

      Hi, if you need to connect to a laptop's mic input to get audio into it, the easiest way with this mixer would be to create an AUX send and adapt that output to the 3.5mm connector for the laptop. I keep a few of these on hand for working with laptops or phones with a combo jack - amzn.to/3yg1Fqe (Affiliate link) but otherwise you'll just need to turn down the AUX send output to get a low enough level. Alternatively you could use an inline pad to get the level reduced, something in the -35 to -55 range would work well. Let me know if that makes sense, or if you have any more questions!

    • @DcSoundOp
      @DcSoundOp  3 года назад

      This mixer has graphic and parametric eq built in at the outputs. The channel EQ is very usable too & there is an RTA function built in to help you find the trouble frequencies. I've done tons of small and large events with just the TouchMix and it works great. Thanks for the message Thanh!

    This is probably an ignorant question but where and how to is Monitors? I want to send certain mics front and others to players I.e. vocals, instrument. Thanks

    • @DcSoundOp
      @DcSoundOp  Год назад

      Hey John, so typically on mixing consoles now you won't use the 'monitors' output for sending mixes to musicians. You're not the only one to be thrown a curveball by this, it gets a lot of folks. The way we do it is with AUX sends, which this mixer has a bunch. Each musician gets an aux send for their mix, and that gives you control over what each of them hear. Pre-fade aux sends are useful for sending mixes to musicians, since once you set a level it will stay there. Post fade aux-sends are useful for things like reverb or effects, where you want the level being sent to track as you turn things up and down in the main mix. Let me know if that makes sense when you're looking at your mixer again.

    How can u get a monitor in ear mix for iems? I cant seem to anything when I connect my iems to the headphones jack

    • @DcSoundOp
      @DcSoundOp  6 лет назад +1

      Hey, good question. You typically wouldn't connect your IEMs directly to the headphone output of a mixer, although you certainly could do it that way. With a regular pair of IEM's connected to the headphone output, you should hear something though. Do regular headphones work with your mixer?
      You may consider checking out pg.98 in the manual about how the headphone & cue modes work - www.qsc.com/resource-files/productresources/mix/q_mix_tmix_8_16_30_usermanual.pdf
      In most cases though for IEMs, you would create an aux mix for each musician, which would feed their individual in-ear monitors. Typically, the IEM's are connected to either a wireless or hardwired unit that acts as a headphone amplifier, simple mixer and in many cases a limiting or protection circuit.
      I would need to know a bit more about your setup and how you have things connected, routed etc. before I could help much more.

    • @jahstix
      @jahstix 6 лет назад +1

      DcSoundOp thanx for replying , I’ve been using a basic behringer q802 portable mixer that I just connect the headphone out to my iems, I use a 12ft cord that I attach to my belt and just plug my iems directly to, I figure the headphones out should have a signal but I’m not hearing anything outta mine. I appreciate ur response , als I’m just a singer guitarist , i use 2 inputs , 3 sometimes

    • @DcSoundOp
      @DcSoundOp  6 лет назад +1

      Oh, right on... so on a TouchMix, it's very easy to miss, but you've got to hit the [Monitor] button and then use the main knob to adjust the headphone level, it is often all the way off from the factory.
      Let me know if that helps.

      @@DcSoundOp Totally agree with you!
      Pristine sound, great FX - lots of options and ease of use, not to mention a built-in manual, rather than the usual PDF files you get from most companies.
      I hope I can find a workable way to power these off-grid.
      The other big drawback to me is the lack of a USB interface, which is hard to figure, given how cheap USB interfaces are to integrate.
      I've heard from some users, that tracks recorded to external hard disc arrive in a jumble on your DAW system and need to be re-aligned to work on... That is one thing that doesn't adhere to QSC's "no compromises" stance.
      QSC told me to buy a TouchMix 30 Pro, which does have a USB interface.
      But that is nearly as bulky as my existing SQ-5, wich has higher specs, so why bother? Its the small size and weight I'm interested in.
