Thank you for mentioning the subject. I'm a female smoking pipe, l never found anything different between women/men smoking a pipe. I was brought up in a pipe smoking household, my dad and at least two of my uncles smoked a pipe that time. I remember the shape of these pipes and the makers. The genuine scent of tobacco is something you never forget. As an aduld now l exactly bought the same brand of pipes, its Polish maker ' Bróg' mine is churchwarden. Beautiful piece of a simple pipe. Yes l don't see any woman with a pipe nowadays, but l see men walking around parks in Edinburgh, with real genuine lovely pipes. Not the vapes :) greetings from Scotland.
I was at a secondary school in the 70’s and three or four of the teachers used to do their playground duty smoking their pipes - no one gave it a second thought and all of them wearing tweed jackets
I have been smoking a tobacco pipe for 60 years now, started at 18 and I am now 78, It has given me more contentment than anything else. I would like every woman in the world to smoke a pipe, then maybe there is less of a chance , that I will be prevented from smoking mine ,Good Show !!!!!!!!!!!!!
@brave-smoke I am a aromatic smoker mostly, and a little over tw years smoking a pipe. I smoke the same tobacco in the morning. Sutliff Pina Colada. As for my favorite..... hard to say. I have 30 jars open tobacco and I pick one that fits my mood each and every time I smoke. Along with my pipe. I do have tobacco and pipes I smoke less out of. But if a pipe gurgles, I dislike it. Some tobacco bites the back of my throat, but on another day, it's fine. So long story long about my favorite tobacco, I am still looking for it. It's not good on its own, but I like Sutliff, Frosty Mint. It is really strong mint, but put it in a blend that you don't like so much, and let it congeal with that blend for a couple days, it will make it more tolerable and enjoyable to smoke. But watch out on how much you add! 😂 autumn evening is good, but I can burned out on that one now. Sorry, so many blends and so little time
I have been smoking a pipe for 40 years . Love your channel and your style. I dress in a traditional style myself. Love tweed ❤. I would like to see more videos with your partner. It is nice you both enjoy the hobby together. Cheers Ron
Love the video ❤ be careful pipe buying can become very addictive 😊 Pipe smoking has improved my life so much, and you are right it's nice when you see others enjoying it too.
Lots of old sepia photos are still around of village life in past centuries and the women smoking clay pipes....watching you two makes me want one. When I was in my twenties I worked in a place where the manager smoked a pipe and I was fascinated by him because wherever he was went a cloud of pipe-smoke followed and he seemed to be always chilled out and contemplative as he used his pipe to puff on before making decisions. I gave up smoking around that time - now 40 yrs ago....but smoking a pipe does appeal and why not? I think we are all so fed up with being told how to live... thank you for 'coming out' ...with your handsome pipes 💚💛
Thank you to you both im a fellow woman pipe smoker i got my pipe a couple of weeks ago very enjoyable I love Julias pipe she had in begining of video. But all your pipes are very nice.
Thank you Richard, and Lovely Julia, lovely video, thank you for inspiring a Baby Boomer (1959), hopefully the 2nd hand French Briar that is wending its way toward me, will help to make me more relaxed, cheers.
From Birmingham here. British Born Chinese. Been smokin a pipe now since 2020. Love my Savinelli's and Peterson Pipes. You know the Pipe is a piece of nature that we can take with us wherever we go. A man/woman and their relationship with the pipe is hard to explain to others. Whenever I'm sitting at a park bench minding my own business, whilst smoking my favourite PETERSON'S NIGHTCAP (damn i can smoke this one all day, every day), it just transports me to another dimension. People would strike conversations with me, often times telling me that they followed the waft of the exquisite tobacco, until they find the most unexpected: Chinese guy smoking a pipe. Then we engage in striking conversations....and THAT'S what's missing in life now. A genuine, unfiltered, heart to heart talk, all because of the pipe, the tobacco, the aroma, and the connection it has with nature. To look at a pipe, to feel it's texture, whether smooth or rustic, or meershaum...to have a piece of artistry in the palm of my hands that brings me so much joy. It forces me to slow down, and in fact it creates for me a space of peace and clarity. Each puff allows my mind to ease, each puff allows my worries to leave. I pack my troubles into a bowl and burn them, ugly things becoming beautiful aromas and flavours. The result is a big smile on my face. Thanks for sharing this vid Rich and Julia! PS - I'm on a hunt for Macbaren's Old Dark Fired. You know any places? Thanks!
This is legendary', Man and, dear partner, smoking pipes together. And yes 'smelling and seeing the smoke is all part of the experience, as you say' part of the feedback loop, at least for me anyway. Love from Terra Australas.
Guy's what an absolutely adorable couple you's are, A lesson to be taken from your close and affectionate relationship. I do wish the pair of you all the best in your future endeavours, and the peace to live out the rest of your lives together on the homestead you both are seeking. Love from the N/E of UK ❤❤
I bought a pipe over a month ago after watching Richard enjoying his pipe. Friends and family couldn’t stop laughing when they saw me light up. I love it and would recommend a pipe in the evening to anyone who is reading this. x
I am a Daphne Du Maurier type of woman who has been smoking my own roll up cigarettes within its holder for 40 odd years, I enjoy the experience of privately smoking in my own space & pace of time, without having others to look down on me for doing so or hastily moving me on!...Julias little pipes are beautiful, & I am really tempted to get my own pipe now, thankyou Julia & Richard.
Apparently my granny (she died a year before I was born) used to puff on her clay pipe whilst knitting, listening to a radio show and still being able to take part in a conversation all at the same time. I think she must have had a very developed mind to be able to concentrate on all that.
Love the video richard and Julia I'm a pipe smoker to recently won a bid on Ebay for a pipe carved as a bulls head I love it .and I would just like to say you make a lovely couple
Thank you, Julia, for showing us a lovely woman pipe smoker. Something RUclips and the world in general is woefully lacking. I, a woman, just took up smoking a pipe and enjoy it thoroughly. I recently moved to Wyoming where it seems every other person smokes commercial cigarettes but I have yet to spot a single pipe smoker of either gender. I have smoked only at home so far, but I have no compunction abt smoking in public except for one oddity. Unlike you, Julia, I am not a small woman. I stand a slender, 6’ tall and keep my hair quite short so strangers more often than not call me "sir". I can only imagine that concept will be cemented in stone should I be rocking a pipe! Good thing I am quite secure in my identity!
Found your channel the other day via a different subject but have subbed now. I have a one eye also, which means no making shape-first freehand pipes. I light my pipe with Zippo petrol pipe lighter. You can place the flame hole over the top of the bowl and align it and pull the flame down. No charring the rim! Btw, most of my customers are under 50.
I quit smoking, started vaping, getting sick of vaping now! i agree nicotine is a good stimulant in moderation & i think a pipe with non chemically treated tobacco would be the way to go 😊 great video
Great video. I've got a "nose warmer" very similar to her little green pipe. It's actually one of my best smoking pipes. Not harsh or hot like one might think. Easy to clench in the teeth and, despite having very large hands, I like the way it holds. I feel the exact same about being able to see the smoke. I laughed when you mentioned about smoking on a walk and the wind blowing the smoke behind you. That drives me crazy. I feel like I'm not smoking at all when that happens and sometimes I have to turn away and see if smoke is still coming out or if my pipe went dead. I mostly enjoy smoking indoors or while sitting outside on a still day. Love your videos!
Great to see you both speaking up for the pipe. I started pipe smoking while working on the farm aged 15. I continued to smoke pipe for the next 40 years mainly St Bruno,Condor, Black Cherry when I could get it was a special treat. I stopped smoking till I retired . Shortly after , my wife Sheila died. I still had all 20 of my pipes. I found a tobacconist in Whitby went in for a look around . Came out with 50g of Black Cherry . Quite expensive but what a treat when loaded into my 30 Yr old Peterson Shamrock. Memory's came flooding back about our 40 years life together ❤. I agree a pipe is a thing of beauty. To be enjoyed whilst at rest. Because backie has now reached £25 for 59g I have ordered some Virginia tobacco seeds from e Bay to grow my own in the UK next spring. Great content just dubscribed👍🇬🇧
I agree, I took it up a few years ago . I love the faff and the paraphernalia. Pipe tobacco is better than other forms as it contains no additives. I have two pipes and rest them and clean them 24 hours between smokes. You are lucky you both smoke! I am not allowed in the house with my pipes, not good in winter!
Great vid guys. The only lady I’ve ever seen smoking a pipe was what must be 50 odd years ago, and was a Barrister standing outside of the law courts in the Strand dressed in wig and gown with a tiny pipe, what a wonderful sight. Keep on puffing. 👌
Julia's talent know no bounds from ukelele to a pipe. My father-in-Law (gone decades ago) but his pipes are in the same place in his empty old home and I spy a 1-3/4 oz tin of Murray's Erinmore Flake sits rusting waiting for him.
It's great to see you both smoking your pipes together. I'm also smoking mine as i write this. It's just so contemplative and relaxing. I grew up surrounded by pipes, pipe smokers and pipe tobacco. My father, both my Grand fathers and other relations in my family were all pipe smokers, and do you know what, i genuinely wouldn't have it any other way. My personal favourite tobacco is condor. That's what i'm smoking now. If you're ever going to try it however may i recommend you reserve a pipe for the use of condor only as it does tend to 'ghost' the pipe with its flavour or essence. Anyway a big thumbs up and much happiness to you both and may your pipe smoking enrich your lives. Peace!👍🙂.
you might just create a pipe smoking revival..... my granddad was a pipe smoker... I don't smoke.... but so appreciate the beauty of these hand crafted objects
In the 1980s, a USA Senator smoked a pipe. I was surprised, intrigued and moved to stop cigarettes and begin smoking a pipe. While I did not remain a pipe smoker, I no longer smoke those nasty commerical cigarettes. Cheers.
Great to see you both smoking the pipes. I'd like to see more pipe videos from you both, even if it's just you two talking about other subjects while puffing. It's a most relaxing pastime.
Speaking of nice pipes. In January 2024 I visited the Rasta Camp School of Vision on top of Blue Mountain in Jamaica. These Rastas are known for their pipes so I bought one made of iron wood. Haven't used it so I don't know if it works well but it is a beautiful piece.
I was smoking mine at work on lunch and someone came up and said that smells lush ,young lad , my pipe is a camouflage Savinelli . The tobacco is Kohlhase & Koop pipe sixty six from smoke king , . I’m sure you won’t be disappointed In getting some , it’s not cheap but My colleague at work who also smokes it got me hooked on it 👍😉
I did not know you was a pipe smoker I myself vape a pipes that I make because they bring back memories of my Father who was a pipe smoker. great video as usual
I really enjoy and relate to Richards pipe videos & his like of the old tobacco tins & pipe paraphernalia. I also covers over the government scare adds on the new tins. Like Julia, a female cousin of mine smoked a pipe for a while until she gave up smoking altogether. Her kids & sister thought it hilarious. Someone in the family nicknamed her Granny Clampett.
Lovely to see. My Great Grandma smoked a clay pipe. I would love to but I don't have the courage yet. All my relatives when I was growing up smoked a pipe. My Father in law smoked his pipe until the age of 101. St Bruno.
Lots of women used to smoke pipes, lots of the old (proper) female film stars used to - have a search and you will find pictures of them enjoying a pipe - also if you can find a copy watch Father of the Flame about pipe smoking and pipes!
I think it’s the whole thing, when the pace of living was slower, because we didn’t live in our heads so much.when people lived in reality 😊.when there was purpose, value, meaning and hardwork rewarded by relaxation and appreciation, simple living .The importance of enjoying and savouring the simple pleasures 😊I reckon 😊Jack Hargreaves’s.😊
One of my Grandads always smoked a pipe , the aroma was really nice , he smoked thick twist he cut bits off with a knife , also he smoked Condor loved the smell . My other Grandad give up smoking cigarettes and swapped over to a pipe , one of my Uncles worked on the Co - Op milk for years even though he was a trained Mechanic in the R A F , he had a peterson bent in his mouth and half the time it wasn't even lite , love the idea of pipes and all the different tobaccos . Great video 👍 ❤
Thanks Richard for the idea of covering those terrifying images. I now use my children's stickers to cover up my cigarillo case. Will definitely explore switching to pipe smoking.
I've been a cigar smoker for 30 odd years and took up the pipe some three years ago last Christmas my partner asked for a pipe. Can't say she's a regular pipe smoker but she does enjoy the odd bowl. Fortunately for me her sister married an Irish man and moved to Dublin so now I get to visit the Petersons pipe shop a few times a year
Julia might like Borkum Riff Ruby, I used to enjoy the Kendal Black Cherry many years ago but now I find the BR Ruby to be a far more pleasant flavour. Btw to expand both if yours enjoyment go lookup how-to retrohale, out through nose without inhaling deeper.
No they reserve their obnoxious comments for the more serious videos that impart information regarding taking back your sovereignty ..... because they're happy little slaves doing what they're told and desperately require the rest of us to remain 'happy little slaves ' too
They reserve their comments for the taking back your sovereignty videos. They require us all to be happy little slaves and do as we're told just like them.
@@yiguanas812 They only comment on take back your sovereignty videos. They don't like it when we aren't obedient little slaves like they are and not doing as we're told as they like to do.
My great grandfather had a rack of pipes. I wish I was in possession of them now. I’m pretty sure there was an ivory decorated one amongst them. I know ivory is taboo now, as it should be .
I love a good pipe. Been smoking a pipe since I was 13. The herb calms my epilepsy, depression and anxiety I tried tobacco for a bit but it aggravated my throat. I lost vision in my right eye 4 years ago, and just realize WHY I'm ruining the side of my pipe!
What a beautiful couple! You really need to try releasing the smoke through your nose, it’s called retrohaling. You get more of the flavor of the tobacco. Give it a try, not a lot of smoke, not till you get used to it. Much better!
Not for everyone but if you can learn to retrohale it does help to enhance the flavour of the tobacco. Once ot twice a bowl I enough so you don't have to do it constantly but it I worth a try and you don't need to inhale to do it either
Well there’s a coincidence believe it or not, I just lit my pipe of Petersons Sherlock Holmes and up popped your video , the pipe by the way is a Petersons Derry Rustic 68..I see Julia likes the Missouri Meershaum corn cob pipe , I agree with her and have several different cobs , they smoke so easily ..Petersons make a range of Sherlock Holmes pipes but they are a tad expensive, but I’m sorely tempted lol .
I agree about diminutive pipes, i just haven't got the time to sit there with a deep bowl of anything more than 40mm. I recently got a great little Vauen that's just right dimensionally and weight-wise. Otherwise my preference is the kind of Peterson System style and i have many Falcons which i gather is like the Marmite of the pipe world. I recently started appreciating corncobs too, for some reason i don't feel as conspicuous smoking them in public.
Very nice couple. Historically I favoured Orlik Pipes -"Smoked by All Good Judges"-even though I have never been a judge. Presently, I have about 15 pipes of various makes-no Orliks, but some nice Mr Brogs. None of my collection costs more than about £40 stg. I also have an eclectic collection of superb unopened pipe baccies BUT, since Covid [2019], I have not smoked my pipes. I have angina and I also had a growth surgically removed [not pleasant ] from my tongue. In all, I decided to stop pipe smoking-but kept the pipes & tobacco. I have had many pleasurable hours/days/...years of pipe smoking-but my health comes first.
If you want to get growing, and saving tons of cash... you can grown tobacco in the UK. A few years back I grew some in my back garden... seeds are commonly available online for all kinds of strains. Tobacco improves with age, but you can smoke it in the year it is harvested (whatever people say) -- like homebrew wine - it improves with age, but you can drink it about as soon as it is bottled. Also, you can (or certainly could) import *uncut* tobacco leaf cheaply as tobacco tax doesn't have to be paid until the leaves are cut ready for smoking.
Just had lovely bowl of Bosun Cut Plug in the garden. Later off for a walk along the beach to the pub with a cigar. If the state has demonised something (tobacco) then you can rest assured it benefits us in a little pleasure and/or it hinders their genocidal agenda. FYI Julia & Rolling tobaccos I love the American Spirit & Pueblo Classic but the best additive free rolling tobacco I've come across is the Auld Kendal Dark which you may enjoy. ☮️
@ you're very welcome. I find it doesn't need rehydrating before use (I find the American Spirit especially dry & fast burning) A little hard to find but available from many independent tobacconists and from GQ Tobaccos Dot Com. Hope that you have a beautiful day. Ady.
I'm being perfectly honest when I say this I can definitely see you've both aged since you've been smoking the pipe especially Julia it's just my opinion on what I've noticed.
Could chewing on tobacco provide enough nicotine for certain purposes? If so, how long and how frequently would anyone suggest (assuming it is a tobacco reasonably high in nicotine)?
Thank you for mentioning the subject. I'm a female smoking pipe, l never found anything different between women/men smoking a pipe. Thanks for sharing that with us! I miss Scotland very much.
What are your favourite pipe tobaccos?
well said amiga.
I remember tweed jacketed gentlemen smoking their pipes, it was a part of the England I grew up in and it was lovely…and I miss it terribly.
I was at a secondary school in the 70’s and three or four of the teachers used to do their playground duty smoking their pipes - no one gave it a second thought and all of them wearing tweed jackets
Now it’s more shisha, if you know what I mean.
Now You have queers with tattoos and tight jeans vaping pink chinese shit
I am a tweed jacketed gentleman and I wear corduroy trousers too with tiny char marks where the smouldering baccy hath fallen! 🥸
Quite right my friend.

Thanks Richard and Julia. Ive just ordered myself 2 pipes from Etsy 😊
Well done but remember it’s a long learning curve.
Love the video ❤ be careful pipe buying can become very addictive 😊
Pipe smoking has improved my life so much, and you are right it's nice when you see others enjoying it too.
I'm etsy right now. Already got 6 tabs open with 'potentials'. Slippery slope, I think :)
What do you mean , I’ve only got 35 and counting lol ..Yes of course very addictive but enjoyable none the less .
I agree regarding addiction of pipe collecting

Lovely, and relaxing video for a Sunday morning 🩵
Interesting too
Thank you both ✨🇬🇧

I can happily sit in a room of pipe smoke in a way that I couldn't abide where cigarettes are concerned. ❤
I bought a pipe over a month ago after watching Richard enjoying his pipe. Friends and family couldn’t stop laughing when they saw me light up.
I love it and would recommend a pipe in the evening to anyone who is reading this. x

Loving your pipe smoking videos guys!
Jack Hargreaves on "Out of Town"was someone I loved to watch and listen to, his country wisdom was amazing..... he was often puffing on his pipe.
Love watching his shows and the intro music is beautiful! Although he's no longer here he's got a lovely calm demeanor and nice voice
Apparently my granny (she died a year before I was born) used to puff on her clay pipe whilst knitting, listening to a radio show and still being able to take part in a conversation all at the same time. I think she must have had a very developed mind to be able to concentrate on all that.

The reactions to this video are amazing. I used to be as energetic as Julia when smoking a pipe, now I'm calm like Richard. It'll come with time.
Gotta love you guys!! I always loved the smell of pipe smoke.

Love all the interesting comments especially this one about reserving a pipe for condor tobacco. Almost makes me want to take up pipe smoking! 😊
Just smoked my first clay pipe and I love it! My fancy briars are all jealous😀
You are growing rapidly ❤

Great to see you both smoking the pipes.
I'd like to see more pipe videos from you both, even if it's just you two talking about other subjects while puffing.
It's a most relaxing pastime.
I liked this video, it was beautiful to see how relaxing it seemed to be. Thank´s for charing!
I’m sure you won’t be disappointed In getting some , it’s not cheap but My colleague at work who also smokes it got me hooked on it 👍😉
Lovely video! Pipe smoking is truly contemplative.
Regards from Sweden
I did not know you was a pipe smoker I myself vape a pipes that I make because they bring back memories of my Father who was a pipe smoker. great video as usual
I really enjoy and relate to Richards pipe videos & his like of the old tobacco tins & pipe paraphernalia. I also covers over the government scare adds on the new tins. Like Julia, a female cousin of mine smoked a pipe for a while until she gave up smoking altogether. Her kids & sister thought it hilarious. Someone in the family nicknamed her Granny Clampett.
I had Julia’s tank top in 1970 - I feel ancient ! Much love both.
😊 I had a tank top in the 70's 😊
i pinched this vintage tank top from my Dad when Mum was clearing out the loft 😆😁💚💙💜
Absolutely fantastic xx
Really relaxed enjoyable video - my late father-in-law loved smoking his pipes. I've got them all nowadays in safe keeping
Straight pipes are better for keeping smoke out of your eyes. My tip of the week. I smoke a bent briar for thirty years and finally worked it out.
😂
Woman occasional pipe smoker here, my husband has 2 eyes but also only has vision from one.
Good on yer both. I look forward to seeing the howls of righteous indignation by the self-hating trolls and bots in the comment section to this video!
Thanks to Julia for coming on. I’m a lady pipe smoker meeself. 😊
My great grandfather had a rack of pipes. I wish I was in possession of them now. I’m pretty sure there was an ivory decorated one amongst them. I know ivory is taboo now, as it should be .
Marvelous video. ❤
I really enjoyed your video about pipe smoking , and i don't even smoke.
Lovely video! I think pipe smoking is associated with thinking or meditation even .. thankyou both 🙂💚🌳🌻🦋🐕🧙♂️🙏
I agree with Julia
You have amazing quests with important information
I had a girlfriend that smoked a pipe but it wasn't tobacco she put in it 🤣 thanx for posting guys 👍
Nice pipes :0
Absolutely wonderful 😊
Big hug to you both 😉
Having a pipe is one thing getting the tobbacco is another? In a modern day time nothing like being outlawed and getting away with it❤
Very nice couple.
Flipping heck!, i thought this was going to be urology or gynaecology related!. So pleased i was wrong.
This looks wholesome. I’ve never smoked but pip smoking looks so relaxing and very vintage cool. ☺️
Peterson's Early Morning Pipe tobacco would be perfect for you. Soft. Sweet. Light. Wonderful aromas. Wonderful flavours.
Lovely green pipe , kind of Christmasy . The Country pipers , Very nice.
sweet
Hello very nice video, greetings from Austria 🇦🇹 ❤️🩹🔥☁️☁️👋
I keep joking to my husband that I’m going to get a pipe. 😂
☮️
Ooh thank you for the recommendation! 💚💙💜
@ you're very welcome. I find it doesn't need rehydrating before use (I find the American Spirit especially dry & fast burning)
A little hard to find but available from many independent tobacconists and from GQ Tobaccos Dot Com.
Hope that you have a beautiful day. Ady.
If everyone smoked a pipe There'd be no wars
great pipe smoking 😊
What a refreshing chat. I'm SO browsing pipes on etsy right now :)
I've just done the same!😊
Love Julia's outfit!
Julia is definitely the star of the show👍
remember to warn us all if your going to do a live show
Well, if you both enjoy it that's good. Not for me personally, but èach to their own.
I've got two pipes. For props when I was Captain Haddock....🦈
I'm being perfectly honest when I say this I can definitely see you've both aged since you've been smoking the pipe especially Julia it's just my opinion on what I've noticed.
❤❤
There are videos of how to make a simple pipe,on youtube, maybe you should do a video on trying to make one
Could chewing on tobacco provide enough nicotine for certain purposes? If so, how long and how frequently would anyone suggest (assuming it is a tobacco reasonably high in nicotine)?
They might ban this one Richard I think it's fine though and great
