Evening all 😊 let us know what you thought of the video. It was fun to make and I’m proud of it. What’s the longest you’ve ever had to handsteer for? And why?!

It was definitely testing. But felt like a culmination of everything we’ve learnt so far. A sort of right of passage. In a strange way it was all great fun 😆

Good morning Joe and Flick, congratulations on making it to Africa. Oh and of course well done walter you trooper. Sounds like one hell of a sail! Thank you for another lovely video. Please tell me, what autopilot system are you using? Is it the Xs63000 or the 66000 model. I have heard those can have some soft teeth on the gears. Lots of Love from Middlesborough. Cant wait for the next one. Andy.

Thanks Andy this is the Raymarine Type 2 Linear Drive unit. We will do a video on it soon. But the plastic gears had totally worn away. No teeth left on them. Crazy 😝

Hey Jamie 👋🏼 welcome. We got them made by Dave and Damien at Peninsula Marine Services in Plymouth, United Kingdom 🇬🇧. They are great at what they do, great to work with, but usually quite the waiting list.

How are you getting on with starling what are the monthly costs

We got Starlink in Spain around middle of September and had absolutely no issues with it. We are going to do a full video on internet connection on a boat soon. But it’s worked great. We can sail along at 6 knots even up to 10 knots surfing and still be getting 100+ MBit connection.

Monthly costs are I think 75 or 80 euros per month and you have to purchase the actual dish which I think was 350 euros at the time. They have different pricing depending on the country you are in. But in theory you can take it to any country you want once all set up. But you’d be trapped in the pricing plan of the original country you bought it in.
