If I bought a yacht, I would name it "After You. That way, I could invite a bunch of friends over for a party on my boat. If anybody said they wouldn't come, I would reply, "Oh come on, I named it after you!"
A question for you, If I was to hire you to find a yacht on my behalf and I asked you "how much are you making on commissions on this particular yacht " would you tell me? or would you clam that information is none of my business?
You say deal with large companies but I am inclined to deal with private sellers and have experts examine the ship from toe to tip. Your hints are greatly appreciated.

Great question, and one that I may include in a future Q&A video. To give a quick answer: a charter gives you the yacht owning experience for a relatively fixed cost. When you leave the yacht you also leave any financial responsibility for the upkeep of the yacht behind. This is attractive to a great number of people. The down-side is that you never really get the yacht that YOU want and are able to use it where YOU want to. You always have to compromise in some way when you charter so that you get the best that is available in the area that you want to cruise. Yacht ownership means greater financial responsibility, but in return you choose everything from the colour of the tableware to the credentials of the crew. It is YOUR yacht, to use where you want and when you want.

Yes, it seems that the primary benefit of owning is that you are on your own schedule rather than somebody else's. Plus you know for a fact that the sheets and blankets are yours :) Since we're making requests I would also love a video about the 24 meter cut off. What are the principal differences between a pleasure craft and bigger yachts. Thank you

Hi ProjectGTR. Private sales happen from time to time, but not very often. There are so many cars for sale, and so many people that can afford cars, that an intermediary is not always necessary. Not so with yachts. You really need somebody to market them extensively and keep on top of the information that is being given out. The yacht location can change, engine and generator hours constantly change, services and class inspections become due...it's good to have somebody that is informed of all this and more to represent the yacht for sale.

Of course you can. If you have friends or know someone, you can approach them and negotiate if they are selling their own yatch.
