This song has a David Bowie sound to it I was watching an interview of Elly the other day and she said David Bowie, Prince, and M.Jackson were some of her Inspirations... If you listen closely the music in this song sounds like David Bowie's " let's Dance"...once in awhile there comes along a quirky artist like LA Roux who doesn't sound like anyone else and who has true talent...and that's very rare and refreshing in the music business. She also stated that she doesn't want to be pushed into the spotlight too soon by the industry and get used up for profit sake...without time to truly develop..A True artist with real Talent, Kudos LA Roux I hope you go far!!!
I could watch her hair blowing and the reflection moving in her glasses forever, that is such a cool, subtle animation! And this song is ROCKIN'! I'm so glad La Roux is back!
Why the hell is this getting slept on? Three songs (Kiss and Not Tell, Uptight Downtown, and Sexotheque) from the new album sound like classics. They should be at 100,000,000+ views.
+yumboom I second Silent Partner and Let Me Down Gently!

It's better this way it's our secret thing just make sure she gets paid buy a cd or poster or something. The hair? Ehh. The cars going by in the sunglasses? Come on. Those pedestrian vibes latin it all goes back and ties together like art. I didn't even need no fancy edumucachun to see this. Also downtown is uptight.
I love the feel and sound of Elly's music. It's both calming and uplifting. From Quicksand to Bulletproof, to Sexotheque to Kiss and Not Tell, she is by far my favourite artist
OMG BULLETPROOF IS THEE BEST SONG EVER CREATED IN THE WORLD AND I LOVE IT AND I KNOW THE WORDS OFF BY HEART AND I HAVE LOVED IT SINCE I WAS TEENY AND I LOVE IT AND I LOVE IT AND I LOVE IT SOSOSOSOSOSOSOSO MUUUUUUUCCCCCHHHHHH!💙💜💚💓💘💝💞💟❤️🦄😍😭😘
or keep it down, idk why... wait yes i do: you never know if your neighbors can hear your music through your thin condo walls like Michael had in the office
***** Yeah, I'm sort of like that too... sort of. I love listening to old style electronic disco/synthpop like Erasure (I like La Roux's music because it sounds older). I will listen but not pay much attention to about anything else except rap, house, hard rock/metal or country. Ugh, don't even get me started on country...
This is electronica rock in the same vein as blondie and the cars. Yet it keeps being compared to crapo recent dance music. Well if you like that, you won't like this. And if you like that, you really don't like music. You just use it to accompany your dancing. As long as you can move to it, it might as well be rhythmic farts, right?
no reason to be patronising everyone has different tastes! no ones better or worse for liking/not liking different types of music :) just wish everyone let people be themselves no matter what. (at comment above mine)
Ohh come on now, we can't all be musical puritans. :P I, for one, enjoy both "crapo recent dance music" and La Roux's music, as well as many other genres of music. I like "crapo recent dance music" for when I'm doing something physical like dancing or working out. It generally has a lot of energy. I prefer La Roux's music when I'm doing something more relaxed and cognitive like drawing, writing, or studying. Now, some of her more energetic songs make it on to my mp3 player. However, some of her songs just don't have enough bpm for a good run.
This makes me feel so happy and free. Like I just imagine a group of friends driving through the city at sunset, wind blowing their hair while laughing and stopping at random destinations, pushing each other around in shopping trolleys while eating snacks on the bonnet of a car and star gazing. Just cruising around, aimlessly finding destinations. Happy times
I love this band so much... The first time i listen to Laroux was when im working at a coffee i stop whatever im doing to listen the incredible sound, when im at home the firt thing i do was turn up my laptop and searching for Laroux and since then i always come to hear his incredible voice and the magic produced by every note from its synths
La roux definitely is staying out of the public eye I assume producing another fantastic album!!! Shes one of the goats in her style of music if not one of the greats o.a.t period. Highly underrated overly underappreciated.
@@ladedade23Blunticus She got it back. Took years of therapy. By the sounds of it, was mostly psychological. Her meteoric rise to fame, crazy schedule and stage anxiety got to her. She ended up doing lots of therapy. But she's making and performing music again.
Love her and her band 20023 and beyond and I'm still rocking out to this song. And others by her. I love you I love you I love you. ❤️ ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Bought this album, listened to it once then forgot about it. now after a few weeks Im listening to it again and it's just sunk in how wonderfully subtle and groovy it is!
I see so many Lady Gaga fans commenting on the videos of her two new songs :P I guess we all like TRUE artists in today's boring lineup in the charts ;) La Roux and Lady Gaga, I have loved so much since the beginning of their career's in 2008! 6 years and going!
I LOVE Lady Gaga and La Roux!! It's refreshing to see someone else with the capability to love more than one artist and not feel the need to insult fans of other artists. Plenty of love to go around!!!!! ps. this song is AMAZING! Can't wait to see La Roux next week in Boston!!
So underrated To the point that Is Quite disgusting how People ignore A good Band In times Where Mediocrety Is praised ( Taylor Swift , Selena Gomes, Billy ellish ETC ETC ).
fantastic sound-craft, the tonality of this track is mesmerising. The attention to detail brings me back to this song time and time again. magical artistry. :-)
Could have been a top ten hit in 1984 - Great compliment. Million times better than the fucking shit that excuses itself as music in the charts these days.
Bran Kep Even though there is an overwhelming amount of shit in the charts, there are diamonds in the shit. It will only take time for us to realize that they're there, it always does.
+salvadormarley Good song and better than the fucking shit that excuses itself as music on the charts these days -- but it wouldn't have gotten much airplay in 1984. Trust me.
@@ChevyBM oh you forgot how Trump released the leader of the Taliban & 5,000 members and how he failed to bring back the troops in 14 months as he kept “promising” and signed on that treaty agreement on Feb 2020 with the Taliban but please keep blowing your dog whistle.
This is what good music sounds like. Perfect harmony between her awesome vocals and the instruments.
I do agree....
The 1975 is also very harmonious and upbeat - love them too
Agreed! got it on repeat!
She's a tremendous artist. Wish this had become bigger.
Its underground basically
We love it so it's big enough to me. 🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
80s synthpop style ftw! I'm in heaven!
So true!

Her music and her personality are so alluring.
Damn... talk about a comeback. She is killing it.

yumboom Because it's not fucking Pitbull or Lady Gaga
yumboom Add Tropical Chancer and Silent Partner to that list. This album is a classic, period.

I’ll never forget the extreme joy of when she released this & let me down gently. What a great way to end high school with such a PHENOMENAL album!
I wake up with this in my head quite often, it's ace.
OMG, she got sooo much better after all this time. Really enjoy the songs! Keep it up!
Our #tomboy queen! LOL! Yes, worth the wait!

thank you La Roux...its my honor to listen this song
So sad to see the album is not doing so great in the UK. 1st week got to No.6, then 43, now 77 😪
wtf its good af! hopefully she chooses good singles, this song and Tropical Chancer Sexotheque and Cruel Sexuality
Eddy Escobar
I completely disagree. This song is very catchy :)
pilgim
Touché.
Music should be judged based on how expressive it is. As for me, I am terrible at interpreting song meanings so I have no idea XD
*****
That's why I don't like country music. It has nothing original.

Really talented. This should top the charts.
+black1582 maybe back in the day lol, I thought all her songs were made back in the 80s

La Roux just put out a new song recently!
I´m loving the 80's/90´s revival.
One of the best pop-synth songs ever written. She is so good and underrated....
I saw her in 2009 Toronto Canada in Chinatown
singing and dancing to this in the car all week.. LOVE IT
Nile Rogers production, A huge step forward for this girl! I love her, she is the artist of future

OMG! This Song is Amazing! Amazing, amazing and amazing! Congratulations La Roux, I Love You ♥
She’s absolutely the best
I'm all about rock n roll personally but this chick is some real talent
beautiful
this song is kinda giving me ABBA vibes, like the base-line from Lay All Your Love On Me. not a bad thing, i like it
I felt the same thing the first time I heard it.
"Giving me" reminds me of queens at rupaul's describing their fashion hahaha
Alonso M that's probably where i got it from haha, that show is 'giving me' life
i luuuv it!
La Roux is awesome because they basically feel like a modern version of Eurythmics. But ABBA is cool too.
Bought this album, listened to it once then forgot about it. now after a few weeks Im listening to it again and it's just sunk in how wonderfully subtle and groovy it is!
This & "Kiss and not Tell"
THE BEST!

Tropical chancer would surely get this amazing album to the top ! Come on La roux :D
I'm glad they got a better camera this time around.
Obsessed with this song!
How does she manage to remain so still??
its an image but they animate the one part of her hair!
You couldn't tell by the lights in her sunglasses?
Thanks, it was animated pretty well. The hair looks so natural. :)
You are dumb... and by you I mean the two people who replied to the OP.
I'm pretty sure they take like a three second video of her and repeat it, you can tell by the light in her sunglasses.
This album is a classic.
Your style is the best
Love you!
Well, well ! Restored my faith in 'modern' music
WHY ARE WE FIGHTING, I DON'T UNDERSTAND? OH BUT THE TEMPERATURE'S RISING TONIGHT! #TUNE
this song is so catchy, i hope the new album is just as great as her first album, hearing this song makes me think just so
I previewed the album and I would say it's gonna be a great album
