    There was absolutely NO misunderstanding here. This was going to be a full on attack/bite from this shark. You can't listen to these people who over sympathize with wild animals claiming that sharks are "misunderstood" creatures. They forget that sharks are wild and will do whatever it feels like in a given moment.

      Please tell me who is saying that in this situation, in every situation there is a right and a wrong that changes with context and there are situations where people kill sharks that don't have to, this is obviously not one of them.

    • @BU_IDo
      @BU_IDo 2 года назад

      @@v.richard9993 LOL wait what? That doesn't make sense. If your side or my side doesn't align with the truth then we're both (whether intended or not) lying about the situation. We shouldn't allow our perceptions or feelings to take precedence over what has been observed. Sharks (depending on the type) in some cases don't attack people and in other cases they do. We shouldn't lean hard to any one of those two sides. That's how the truth comes in and give us a wakeup call.

    • @nicolassenmartin1018
      @nicolassenmartin1018 2 года назад +48

      Yeah, the shark was aiming for the person but not because it is a human, they don't know what we are for most.
      As we can see it is a spear fisherman so he probably caught a bunch of fish nearby, which the shark surely smelt and so thought there'd be food.
      Then it saw the person and thought it could be something edible, associating it with the things it knew, and charged. Generally sharks aren't dangerous but the situation you create can make them so. Spearfishing, swimming in murky water or at dawn, wearing black suits or jewelry all of those can be factors for shark attacks.
      They may also be curious and so bite to look at what you are or if you let them do so, which isn't the case here. The bull shark indeed aimed for the person but it is not a reason to make it a monster. Though people saying the man could do something else are wrong as there were no other solutions in such a situation.

    The scary thing is that it's all about environment awareness in the first place. Had the diver been distracted from what was in his surroundings for 5 seconds (which he undoubtedly sometimes inevitably is during his dives...), then it would have ended up very differently for him. In that sense, there was a component of luck in what happened... (even though of course he handled it unbelievably well once he processed what was happening)

    • @sealard2279
      @sealard2279 2 года назад +27

      @Loj84 2 года назад +25

      This is one of the reasons why you should always have a dive partner, if not several. If you’ve got a few people with you and you’re all paying attention, it’s pretty unlikely that you’ll all miss something coming at you.

      Lol, you really think the shark saw a diver with a gun and went “holy shit I’d like to take a bite out of that!”.

      Noah it's apparent that you don't know much about shark species. Bull Sharks, Tiger Sharks, Great Whites, and Hammerhead sharks are the most aggressive types of reef and deep salt- water sharks. There have been multiple incidents of Bull sharks attacking divers and snorkelers unprovoked, and there's a very simple reason why: they're hunters. Instincts get triggered by simple movements, such as bubbles or disturbances in water, glinting in the water (such as off a watch, spear, or even off of the reflections from your mask), etc. This guy could just as easily have been snorkeling over the reef and the shark still would have attack him unprovoked. Why are Bull Sharks and Hammerheads more aggressive than other predatory sharks? Good question. I just gave you the facts I know. Please take into consideration here that I know what I'm talking about: I'm a licensed SCUBA diver and I've spent plenty of time in my life snorkeling and sailing.

      Everything has been said above except one thing I'd like to add: the camo is effective when you dive among the shadows of a reef or in a kelp forest. It is of no use when you are at the surface and the sunlight draws your shape in contrast to the water uniformity around you.

If you were walking through a forest with a gun on your person & a bear attacked you, would you use the gun to save your own ass or would you leave it in the holster & let it maul you to death because you're invading its territory? @johankiwii 7 лет назад +25

      No I would never wanna swim with sharks. They are wild animals after all and unpredictable even though they generally leave people alone. The most a shark will ever do is inspect you to see what the fuck you are. But since they lack arms they are limited to the use of their mounts to inspect with a tiny bite. To them it's barely a nibble compared to what they are capable of, but it's still enough to leave a big wound on our bodies. Since most of these "shark attacks" happens far out in the water, most people won't be able to swim to shore before they bleed out in the water. If a shark really wanted to eat you, there wouldn't be much left of you afterwards.

    The problem with sharks and less than great water visibility is these things just glide in and out of view so quickly. You could turn around and see nothing for 20-30 yards, then quickly turn 360 degrees and a shark will be there. Everyone knows to remain calm and don't make sudden movements but it's hard to remember this in a flight or fight moment.

      I saw a 8' bull shark swim by me while diving in the Chesapeake Bay with visibility of only about 15'. I left the water quite rapidly after that. There's never been a confirmed bite on a human in the Bay, but I wasn't willing to put that to the test.

    Anybody attacking this guy in the comments for what happened is either just flat out dumb or terribly uneducated on the subject. To attack him for killing it because it belonged there and he didn't is just an incredibly uneducated and ignorant response. Society needs people willing to step out and explore the unknown, it's how mankind evolves and gains knowledge.
    I also found it absolutely hysterical reading the comments from people who didn't like how he handled the situation and proceeded to break down, point for point, exactly how they would have handled it. Like the PowerPoint presentation they've concocted in their mind would help; A) in an adrenaline fueled fight or flight, potential life or death situation, and B) like they'd even be able to create a step by step plan in those precious few seconds. Anyone in that situation would have at least attempted to handle it the way he did and anyone who says otherwise is either lying or just terribly ignorant.
    The fact that it even needs to be explained is just sad. Thank you for sharing this video, it was incredible.

      Taylor Clark to step up and explore the unknown? with a speargun, you are fucking ridiculous. A speargun is meant to kill fishes...you can still use other means of protection and have also an u/w camera to explore the unknown.

    I hate all the people who get pissed off about this, the lad was clearly defending himself nothing more. And for the assholes who say that he shouldn't had been there, why? What's wrong if a human decides to go in the middle of the ocean? Is there a general rule about nature that I'm missing? If i see any marine animal in land I don't make a retreaded comment about why is shouldn't be on land.

    • @NS-bg5el
      @NS-bg5el 6 лет назад +7

      I think it was fine since he was defending himself, but his diving attire is not appropriate for diving with any kind of fish, and is probably what caused the shark to attack him, because of how their senses work

    • @RandomWatcherofVideos
      @RandomWatcherofVideos 6 лет назад +20

      Bull sharks are territorial, so it probably wanted him gone, or killed, as well as their higher level of testosterone.

    • @Whitesharkvideo
      @Whitesharkvideo 6 лет назад +7

      Yes, you're missing a general rule of creatures that don't want to encounter other predators. Don't attack food that they want to your body. Does this seem like strange shark behavior to anyone? A small to medium sized shark charging an animal bigger than it is? Yes, divers in full gear, especially free diving fins, are quite large relative to many sea animals). Scared as you may be of sharks, it just doesn't work that way in the real world where a shark that size charges a diver at full speed. That shark was after the shiny, dead fish that the guy had attached to him. Dragging fish behind you, or worse yet, up against your torso, is asking for problems. HE certainly didn't have to pull the trigger after he'd already rammed the spear in its throat.

    • @DamiNym

      Hound Life Vlogs I swam with the sharks when I visited Australia. No joke. But it was controlled in Sydney Aquarium haha. Still, the adrenalin being so close to a shark in their territory. I don't know how some people go out and swim with them deep in the ocean. Stunning animals.
