  • In deciding whether to get another DJI Action 4 to keep in our current camera inventory, we've decided to do a side by side compare between the Action 4 against the much older Sony FDR-X3000 action camera. We liked the look of the Sony FDR-X3000 because their colour science matches our Sony broadcast cameras pretty well. Back in 2016, it was also one of the better stabilised cameras using optical stabilisation. Plus the Sony's live HDMI output capabilities made it one of the better tiny POV cams for multi camera live applications out there till today. As for the DJI Action 4, after encountering hot pixel issues during long exposure modes, we were very disappointed with the level of service and support given. The result of the footage compare is making us envy of the Action 4's 10 bit codec, great dynamic range, smooth gimbal-like stabilisation....but the unnatural sharpness makes the footage look a bit strange. overall, it still doesn't warrant an urgent need for us to ditch and retire the Sony FDR-X3000. We think they can still pretty much hold up in good lighting conditions since we are mainly using action cams as B-cams or C-Cam footage.
