The best part of Unova's Victory Road theme was how at the badge gates, an instrument of the song was added for each badge gate you passed through, with the main tune kicking in once you passed through the last one and got to Victory Road proper. This was only in the first B/W, of course.

In my opinion, hoenn is probably the best for me. Because of it's intense theme, it makes me have a flashback on everything I did to reach the victory road.
To those who say Alola doesn't have a victory road, let me ask you this, what is victory road? Victory road is nothing more than the last road a trainer travels before the Pokémon league. Now, developed leagues tend to have plenty of trainers and other challenges as people journey through and train. But, Alola's league was just created, there hasn't been any time for a road to be properly made, and no time for trainers to come there, especially if they're all in Poni Canyon. Alola has a victory road, it's just not developed yet.
I guess that if what is said above, then that means that the gen 1 music is victory road's music, however it is not truly as that is only the route 23 music and the indigo plateau theme. The real theme is the cave theme.
To all the people saying Mt. Lanikilla isn't a real Victory Road: You are literally the first person to become Champion. Few have heard Alola has a Pokemon League, even less are actually there. While Vast Poni Canyon fits the more traditional style of a Victory Road, it isn't one. Mt. Lanikilla is.

Honestly, my favorite out of all these is probably Gen 5's theme. It's very uplifting and the beats make you feel you're climbing a mountain, which is literally what Victory Road is in Gen 5. The wind blowing sound effect, playing in the background, really adds that tension to it which I really like. Almost as if a storm is coming. Though if I had to pick my least favorite it would probably be Gen 4's theme. Don't get me wrong, it's good and I like it, but when you listen to it and compare it to the other generations Victory Road themes you kinda get a sense that the music in it feels completely different from the rest. All of them feel upbeat and makes you feel "You got challenges ahead. Stay sharp." Gen 4's theme doesn't feel like that. It feels more so ominous and not as grand. I'm not exactly sure how to explain it further, but I would definitely say Gen 4's Victory Road theme would be my least favorite of all the generations.
Man Hoenn and Sapphire in general has a stellar soundtrack across the board but damn, Unova's Victory Road just can't be beaten. It's one of my favourite game songs of all time. It sounded like a cave music, so I checked every cave's theme, but found nothing. So I had to check the whole soundtrack. Only to find out, that it was Victory Road's theme x'DD
Its unfortunate so many people dislike the Johto victory road music, while I acknowledge why people dislike it, I feel like the short and triumphant tune is perfect for a victory road, you traveled through the region with your party of trusted pokemon, and the last leg of your journey is here, and the triumphant music that plays as you take your final steps really feels like you are so close to complete your journey.
My Top 3: 3. Gen 6 It conveys the feeling of challenge and competition quite well, but kinda leans towards the legendary fight a bit. 2. Gen 1 (Particularly the GBA games) It's again, a really intense and challenging music. With the implication that the competition is literally the world. They are the first ever Elite Four, and it fits really good, considering you don't know what's about to come. 1. Gen 3 Okay, the GBA version is really epic, it's like literally pumping you up for the ultimate challenge, with challenging trainers from all walks of life. The Elite Four is definitely no more spooky as Gen 2, but it's still no joke. but, But, BUT. Just listen to the 3DS theme. It's so, SO much more epic. Just built up on it and improved the feeling of that ultimate and final challenge. Especially hits when you're standing in front of the Champion, Steven. In that room of grey concrete, with those tall windows leaking light. You're finally there. This is the chance. The way the music builds up slowly, it's just perfect.
The Alola ost is wonderful, maybe the best. That music when you fight against the last trainer to become the first Alolan champion... The feels That fight is amazing.
With all the callbacks to Gen 1 in Sun and Moon, I'm honestly surprised we didn't get a kick ass remix of that for Mount Lanakila. But I do love it's theme. Really encapsulates that feel of the lonely walk up the cold mountain. A solitary climb with nothing but your team and your determination... and the occasional wild encounter.
Hoenn is probably my favourite one out of all of them. Kalos and Alola are epic too. The other ones don't make you scared of entering the Pokemon league.....
Honestly same for the Hoenn theme though. It's not really 'intimidating', but it does feel triumphant, I still love it alot. Edit: (if anything, the original Kanto one probably feels more "intimidating", as it really sells the fact that these are the final challenges.)
@@setesh1294 A victory road needs to sound triumphant and exciting is the culmination of your adventure, sinnoh victory roads sounds like a generic cave with a lot of zubats it's not even ominous is boring.
This is my personal opinion of how they rank compared to each other: 1) Alola; if this doesn't scream "your journey is coming to a dramatic close," I don't know what does. It was written extremely well. 2) Hoenn; this is slightly biased, as Kalos is very close behind, and I started in gen 3. It's got that feeling to it of being victorious, and is a really good fit for being in Victory Road. 3) Kalos; it definitely feels like one last push to victory, with a little bit of *flare* to it. It's a masterful use of compound meter, too. 4) Johto; it's so simple, but I think that simplicity really adds to it. What puts it above Kanto for me is I love the dissonance. 5) Kanto; very similar to why I liked Johto, the simplicity here adds a lot to it. It definitely feels like a final march to the end. 6) Unova; this was close behind Kanto. It feels like a nice calm before the intensity and insanity that follows. 7) Sinnoh; the only thing I really hold against this is that the music feels out of place to me. I just think that this music belongs elsewhere, as this held no value to me honestly. Also, is it just me, or does anyone else hear Super Mystery Dungeon a little bit in Alola?
I know this comment is a year old, but I agree that alola's victory road theme sounds a lot like mystery dungeon style- especially that flute. That flute sounds the *exact* same as in super mystery dungeon.
Victory road theme in a nutshell Kanto :- a Hugh challenge ahead Johto :- something mystery Hoenn :- let's work your ass off Sinnoh :- some underworld business happening here Unova :- you got this , you can do it Kalos :- honor is earned Aloha :- some mythical fantasy about this place My ranking from worst to best 4,2,1,6,7,3,5
Y'know I enjoyed the Johto Victory Road theme, but the fact that there's literally no trainers there made it super underwhelming. Like what? All I get is a Rival Battle?
Especially the gen 3 rendition of it. Sure, It's the most repetitive, but that kind of helps it. Kind of like how the Halloween movies has that song that repeats, but Kanto's a little less threatening than anyone in a hockey mask.
Worst Victory Road was Johto’s because there were no trainers but the music is memorable. Unova victory road is the best one because it’s like a maze and the wind is the interesting part before the instruments get the cue when you used a badge.
Gen 3 and 5 are the best. Gen 3, that badass, but intimidating vibe. Gen 5, majestic, yet, hinting of a heavy challenge. Not to mention if the build up of the music at the gates
Unova is my favorite one. Alola is my second favorite. Kalos is my third. The others were good don’t get me wrong but the build up for victory road in Unova was what made me like it so much. Alola and Kalos just didn’t compare well with me despite an awesome soundtrack and how great gen 5 was for me.
The x and y one is the sound of 11 year old me with a them that has 4 pokemon that are weak to fighting, getting destroyed and refusing to go to the poke center bc I'm "too far to go back" and barely defeating Serena Alola is my fav tho
Unova is what the victory roads should be, I understand victory road is a challenge but it shouldn’t sound like your about to go up against a legendary like the rest, it should sound up beat and adventurous like unova
Kanto theme like at a psychological level makes me serious, like this is it, long road to get here, gonna test the 6 Pokemon in your party. It was also I'm Pokemon Stadium games way back when. It shows how well built the original themes were and were slightly modified but still sounded great over various games.
+Andrew Ruffing More that you're taking an elevator up the mountain... Still a kick ass theme, and I dig the solitary, lonely aspect to the journey. Just wish it was longer.

It's again, a really intense and challenging music. With the implication that the competition is literally the world. They are the first ever Elite Four, and it fits really good, considering you don't know what's about to come.
1. Gen 3
Okay, the GBA version is really epic, it's like literally pumping you up for the ultimate challenge, with challenging trainers from all walks of life.
You are the chose one for me
Alola, Unova, Kalos and Hoenn have the best ones no doubt
NinjagoandPokemonFTW PeppapigandLittleeinsteinsFTL i forgot just how bad the sinnoh one is
Have to agree with you, but I prefer alola the most. Not saying your wrong. Just sharing my opinion.
*My Favorites themes:*
1. Alola
2. Kalos
3. Hoenn
4. Kanto
5. Unova
6. Sinnoh
7. Johto
The Alola ost is wonderful, maybe the best. That music when you fight against the last trainer to become the first Alolan champion... The feels
That fight is amazing.
11:41 I was doing a nuzzlock on gen 6 and got to elite four and the theme made me remember I'm cooked 😢
A real victory road theme has to have an epic.victorious and brave feel into it.
*and slightly terrifying. Like you have to fight through the ultimate obstacle very soon.
@@utisti4976 perfect example is the hoenn one
@@idisseddemonslayermugentra2962 also the alola one
Kanto will always be my favorite for that theme, forgot Johto was jamming though
Gen 3 & 4 are my favourites, but damn, HG/SS Victory Road theme it's so good
Gotta say, gens 3, 6 and 7 are by far my favourites
let's admit it. every victory road theme is thr best. i love all of em
Ehh… Johto’s and Sinnoh’s Victory Road themes were weak and Unova’s was mediocre.
Gen 4's victory road's music fits how confusing the layout of the place is
Meanwhile Scarlet & Violet:
What’s a victory road?
kalos’s theme felt anticipating as if it was saying “the challenge has begun.” and then serena comes up to battle you too? like wow.
the only thing wrong with it is that it wasn't a challenge
@@boppo16 its still a fantastic theme, though. Sakurai is an absolute gigachad for putting this in smash lol
Hoenn is my favorite followed by Unova (Nostalgia Sake) and then Kalos
Hoenn is probably my favourite one out of all of them. Kalos and Alola are epic too. The other ones don't make you scared of entering the Pokemon league.....
Honestly same for the Hoenn theme though. It's not really 'intimidating', but it does feel triumphant, I still love it alot.
Edit: (if anything, the original Kanto one probably feels more "intimidating", as it really sells the fact that these are the final challenges.)
Gen 4 is my favourite gen, but it's victory road theme is trash. Luckily it makes up for it with the best champion theme.
It's more mysterious and ominous sounding, in line with the theme of the main storyline.
Jarls Terra best champion theme is easily diantha from kalos or steven from hoenn
@@setesh1294 A victory road needs to sound triumphant and exciting is the culmination of your adventure, sinnoh victory roads sounds like a generic cave with a lot of zubats it's not even ominous is boring.
@@justanotherguy7984 it's tense, if nothing else.
Claudio Uchiha or N
My favorite gen will always be Hoenn but that Mt Lanakila theme is just too awesome, the best VR track in the entire series imo.
Unova has by Far the Best Victory Road Theme
Thank you so much! I find the pokemon themes to be very soothing.
Original victory road pokemon theme...legendary and a classic.
This is my personal opinion of how they rank compared to each other:
1) Alola; if this doesn't scream "your journey is coming to a dramatic close," I don't know what does.
Woof1212 Actually even the story of Sun/Moon really have me a Mystery Dungeon feeling as well as the music.
I know this comment is a year old, but I agree that alola's victory road theme sounds a lot like mystery dungeon style- especially that flute. That flute sounds the *exact* same as in super mystery dungeon.
Wolf kalos has a bit of *flare*
Me: aaaaayyyyyyyy
Gen 3 will always be my no 1
PentagonThief1 same
I found it a nice touch that in Hoenn the Pokemon League (Inside) had the same theme as Victory Road
Mi top:
1. Alola
2. Kalos
3. Unova
4. Hoenn
5. Jhoto
6. Kanto
7. Sinnoh
The fact that Sun and Moon are the last games to ever have a victory road theme
The best victory road theme is and always will be Alola's Mount Lanakila Victory Road.
I agree
Agreed.
Gen 5, the far you get, intese the music is!
Beautiful compilation of the songs
The best Victory Roads Themes:
1º Yellow
2º Black/White
3º X/Y
Mount Lanakila doesn't deserve this epic of music
Hoenn's is incredible
Victory road theme in a nutshell Kanto :- a Hugh challenge ahead
Johto :- something mystery
Hoenn :- let's work your ass off
Sinnoh :- some underworld business happening here
Unova :- you got this , you can do it
Kalos :- honor is earned
Aloha :- some mythical fantasy about this place
My ranking from worst to best
4,2,1,6,7,3,5
2 is best
Y'know I enjoyed the Johto Victory Road theme, but the fact that there's literally no trainers there made it super underwhelming. Like what? All I get is a Rival Battle?
It sucks that gen 2 and 7 have no trainers in victory road especially since the games themselves were great
In USUM there’s plenty of trainers on Mt Lanakila
how is no one talking about gen 1??? it still sends chills down my spine!
Especially the gen 3 rendition of it. Sure, It's the most repetitive, but that kind of helps it. Kind of like how the Halloween movies has that song that repeats, but Kanto's a little less threatening than anyone in a hockey mask.
because gen 5 fans will not shut up about how good gen 5 music is
@@TriiipleTakebitch about it
Can't believe the best victory road theme is the first one we have, 8-bit still hit harder than technologies nowadays.
Gen 6 VR Theme top tier hands down!
0:00 to 1:08 GEN 1- Kanto Red, Blue and Yellow is my favourite out of all of the Gens
Hoenn is just ICONIC
amazing job i`m subbed awesome channel dude!
The Victory Road of Pokemon Ruby/Sapphire is the Best of ALL The Victory Road ever. (It's like an Army Battle Theme for WWiii)
Gen 7 is the best one... for me ^^
When she says, "I want to lose my virginity tonight!"
*Theme kicks in*
my goodness the theme of victory road in oras is so intense
1-Hoenn
2-Kalos
3-Alola
4-Unova
5-Johto
6-Kanto
7-Sinnoh
Unova is my favorite one. Alola is my second favorite. Kalos is my third. The others were good don’t get me wrong but the build up for victory road in Unova was what made me like it so much. Alola and Kalos just didn’t compare well with me despite an awesome soundtrack and how great gen 5 was for me.
good job :)
(no hablo ingles pero me gusta mucho éstos últimos videos de pokémon que has subido)
The x and y one is the sound of 11 year old me with a them that has 4 pokemon that are weak to fighting, getting destroyed and refusing to go to the poke center bc I'm "too far to go back" and barely defeating Serena
Alola is my fav tho
Unova is what the victory roads should be, I understand victory road is a challenge but it shouldn’t sound like your about to go up against a legendary like the rest, it should sound up beat and adventurous like unova
Ayo the gen 3 kanto one be hittin so hard like "this is it"
Alola's theme sounds like something out of Mystery Dungeon. I like it.
Kanto theme like at a psychological level makes me serious, like this is it, long road to get here, gonna test the 6 Pokemon in your party.
It was also I'm Pokemon Stadium games way back when. It shows how well built the original themes were and were slightly modified but still sounded great over various games.
People be talking about the favorites but honestly all of them slap
4:52 trumpets intensifies
Gen 7 sounds the best imo
+Lelouch Vi Britannia The gen 7 victory road was painful, so long and so many trainers, it was tough as hell. ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)
Kyeshu Well, is probably more of the experience that you are CLIMBING A MOUNTAIN!
+Andrew Ruffing More that you're taking an elevator up the mountain... Still a kick ass theme, and I dig the solitary, lonely aspect to the journey. Just wish it was longer.
