You missed the mark a little when you explained the button on the pump of the super nova. Imo, a better example of the benefits of that button would be having a tube full of buck shot, and pressing the button, pump (with no buck shot coming from the tube) and tactically inserting a breacher round to open a door, a slug to take a precision shot of 100+ yards, or even a bean bag round for non lethal application without having to empty your shotgun. The benelli supernova can switch amo on the spot without unloading the tube, and it's the only pump action shotgun that can do that.
You are right it can do those things in those situations, but those situations are so rare, and other shotguns can do it too (just slightly slower), that I don't think it's worth mentioning. Most civilians will never encounter two of those situations. The slug one might come up very infrequently. It IS something the Supernova does, and no other shotgun does, but I don't consider it an especially useful feature--especially when most other shotguns can accomplish the same thing, just a little slower. I don't usually consider the LE or military applications for my reviews, but in those cases, the Supernova's button might come up more frequently, and is therefore more useful.
I own the Benelli Supernova Tactical and Stoeger 3000 Freedom Folding stock. The Supernova comes with a 2 shot plug while the Stoeger does not. The Stoeger 3000 Freedom did not have instructions on how to install the barrel. Good thing someone posted a video how to assemble the barrel. The Benelli Supernova requires you to carefully remove the retaining spring cover to remove the plug. It’s a bit tedious using needle nose type pliers. The Stoeger 3000 is a good shotgun but the Supernova is a better, quality made shotgun.
922r is some unconstitutional bullshit. I should be able to get in ebay and order a PKM if I want to from or to anywhere in the world. The right to own weapons should be universal for every person. That being said, Stoeger makes great firearms. I have an M3k tactical and I love it. Hundreds of fill power loads through it and if runs great. I would trust in in a fight without a second thought. Only ammo that gave me problems so far was Walmart bulk pack Federal 7/8 ounce trap loads, Bio Ammo. The pump guns they make also seem like fantastic shotguns, especially for the price.
Got my stoeger for 180, but out of the box the tube catch was broken and the lifter was bent. Had to send it to benelli to be repaired before I could fire it. Works fine now though. Also seems to not always fully eject 3in shells.
@@steelbearacademy8855 Yeah. When I contacted customer service, I was told to send it to Benelli USA for repairs. 12 days total Shipping included. Works fine now. It handles 3in no problem, but sometimes the shell hangs on the ejection port til the bolt carrier slides back forward. It bugged me deep in the pandemic due to being able to find nothing but turkey magnums at a decent price. Only thing I haven't fired through it is slugs, but everything else seems to work.
@@zachduncan7150 So long as it isn't the side folder one--I hate that one's feel. That's the cheapest I've seen them for. I doubt they get much lower. I think its a good budget shotgun. If you want to buy something better though, I'd get the Mossberg 590/590a1, or a Rem 870 with a factory extended magazine tube.
K so I don't understand that capacity compliance law you mentioned. I'm in Canada but you said that you can't buy a foreign gun that's over 5+1 unless it's outfitted with domestic parts? Like what? I'm currently trying to order the Benelli super nova through my gun store and they Saud I couldn't order the LE model but benelli wouldn't say why. Is it the capacity cuz the LE models are 7 +1
the 922r is a US import law. I dont know anything about canada's gun laws. Benelli probably could sell the LE one to civilians, but choose not to. You can buy them on gunbroker occasionally--brand new.
Not sure if I mentioned the side folder stock in this video or the p3000 video, but that supreme stock design is all wrong. The thumb rests right where the pin would come down to side fold it--very uncomfortable to hold the pistol grip. Now, who cares with a home defense shotgun, right? It's just comfort. but I wouldn't get a gun with that design flaw.
@@steelbearacademy8855 I agree. I'll skip it then thanks. I'm really struggling with deciding on a mossberg 590a1, remington 870 tactical or benelli supernova at the moment. I'd prefer the supernova but I'm in Canada and by the time I get the +2 capacity from nordic it'll be like $900 but I'll have it in a few months. Plastic trigger guard bothers me. Mossberg I'd have to wait till next year but it'll be around $900 as well but I wouldn't have to mess around cuz it comes 9+1 standard. It has a speed holder stock and m lok foregrip for attackements. Metal trigger guard and safety too. The Remington is almost impossible to find in Canada. It'll be $1000 for the tactical model and it's a plastic trigger guard. Capacity is only 7+1.
@@chadcowman6293 sounds like the metal trigger guard is the main sticking point for you. An 870 police, which you could buy on GunBroker, or a new 590a1 would be the ticket for you. If that's the most important difference, then the 590a1 is probably the one for you
@@steelbearacademy8855well not necessarily. The main reason I mention the trigger guard is cuz alot of reviews complain about them breaking if they're polymer. I don't have enough experience to know if it's true but it sounds like it's a big design flaw.
@@chadcowman6293 I've heard that criticism on one of Iraqvet8888 videos but I don't have enough experience with hard use of a Mossberg to know if that is true or not. I've had all 3 at this point, and I think all are good, so I wouldn't worry too much about making the wrong choice, but more people in the comments seem to be steering toward the mossberg than either of the others.
Thanks for the info Jonathan. Helpful as always pal!
Thank you, my friend! =)
Can you pull trigger and drop the hammer when the bolt is not fully locked to the bolt?

What do you think of the p3500? Really struggling between the supernova, 870 fieldmaster and p3500.
All 3 of those are good. I'd pick the Supernova, personally. 870 wouldnt be 3.5 inch capable.
1.25 playback is recommended. Just a little too slow for me, but good info! 🙂
Great video

Looking at the freedom edition on sale for $300. You think it’s worth it?
