I'm so glad she got this. She must have been somewhat anxious, BUT, overcame it !! Bravo ! Her dance partner, Mr Sleep was so kind to do this and share his memory. What a gift she got and so deserved.
She had said, that if she could be anything in life, she wanted to be a dancer, and so she was that night. Given the circumstances that followed, I'm so happy to hear that she was able to perform on stage and that it fueled her confidence in herself.
I have had this thought for years Diana is living somewhere with both her sons incognito or as they say in witness protection! and today just about every member of the RF are played by actors
Yes, the way the Royal Family handled the situation, especially prince Charles was awful. She was very strong, remarkably intelligent and charismatic woman who didn't deserve to be so ill treated. Probably she never saw herself that way. She was so insecure though she was so powerful. I love Di and it's a pitty because despite their differences they could have been quite a match. I do admire Prince Charles for his environmentalist interests and I wish people could see this other side of him. I did admire him when he mentioned that climate change was probably the reason for the conflict in Syria but nobody cares about this everybody is only interested in the gossip around his private life. I understand the curiosity but is that side of him only the one to be looked upon? We all have our faults, he was not in love with Diana, he was compelled to chose her by his family because it was the right thing to do, only it wasn't.

+Tina Rider Your heart maybe but not mine and many, many others who can see through that "I'm so shy!"persona. So fake. Please don't use the collective "our". Please don't count me in.
Her impact on culture is so widespread and timeless. I wasn’t even she died, yet I’ve grown up seeing her appear in TV (re runs and such) , be the subject of documentaries, have many super fans , even here in the US; and if she was that loved here in the states , i can’t imagine how loved she must have been in her country!
She was such an enigma. Shy and nervous but on stage the confidence of any professional star ⭐️ her sons are so privileged to have had her as a mother even for such a short time ❤️
While I miss diana , in this video i adore this cheerful man who is happily talking about her.... wish she would have had someone this enchanted by her side instead of that Charles.
I met Wayne Sleep on more than one occasion in theatres in London in the 80s/90s... I can confirm he really is a wonderful man and superb dancer! (You should check out his Jeremy Fisher/Beatrix Potter ballet :) )
Any husband would have jumped up clapping like a fool, beaming with pride and say, "that's MY wife!!!" But not Charles. He had no idea what a gem he had with Diana. Really, really sad.
Wy would he choose that dragon over her but lv has strange ways shows he's weak he could not stand up to his famialy and I think thats wy harry has seen the light ...
I'm sure he knew what he had, but I think maybe we need to understand that his heart was somewhere else. He didn't love Diana and I believe she knew that from the beginning. I believe it was all an arrangement for her to be the breeder of heir's to the throne for the royaly family while been treated respectfully. Just my views.
He knew what he had in Diana and he couldn't handle it. He wanted to always be the center of attention and when she entered the scene, he was forced into the background. The people wanted Diana,, not him.. His insecurity was only heightened when her star shone brighter and brighter. A very weak, insecure man who couldn't deal with her popularity so he constantly put her down. And, yet any normal guy would have been so proud to have Diana in their life...
He couldn't love anyone who wasn't a lapdog. Narcissists fool lots of good people. I can't imagine him as King in this era or creepy Camilla. He couldn't have a queen that outshined him and was so loved even in the hard times. It could have rubbed off on him but he chose to be aloof and judgmental. She didn't know she being manipulated. At least Diana's legacy is within her sons ... noticeable when they are smiling and when they make their own choices ! Good job! I'm sure they miss her every day. What a treat this video is! RIP DEAR DIANA.
She was a real gem. Loved her, so caring, so sweet, so loving. Charles couldn't see what he had. The world knew; he was blind to this wonderful, one of a kind, women!!!
This wonderful, kind woman had affairs with at least 3 married men. She didn't mention that when she did her interview about how awful it was that Camilla was having an affair with Charles.
They were just two polar opposites. Diana probably thought she could win him over. It is just so tragic that she died so young and did not get to see her children grow up.
'This guy' is Wayne Sleep - a former senior principal dancer* with the Royal Ballet in London (the best ballet company in the UK). [Edit: *and much beloved in the dance world]. In 1973, he established a world record by doing an entrechat-douze, a jump with 12 beats of the feet, on the British television programme Record Breakers. This record still stands.
she sounds like a wonderful person to be around , take away her misery associated with her marriage, she would have been much more thriving , maybe not popular but happy, but everything is already fated ............so sad ... what an icon ..may she rest in peace
I think this was just Diana showing she was brave enough to do what appealed to her and whether the Palace liked it or not she was going to have fun and do something out of the norm. I doubt she was trying to impress Charles at all, it was probably more to show him that she can enjoy herself and is quietly confident. She didn't embarrass herself, she clearly had a great time. Just my own opinion.
Class? She wrote a book and did an interview that hurt her young boys incredibly as well as embarrassed them endlessly by airing her dirty laundry in public. She wrote in her book that Charles was unhappy when Harry was not a girl. How hurtful to Harry! Diana had affairs with three married men and hurt those wives tremendously. Obviously you never read the books she wrote and what came out about her when people werent afraid to talk after her death.
Charles ego is too frágil, he’s so insecure that he couldn’t stand Dianas light, energy and charisma. She was a natural, spontaneous and as good cancerian woman very intuitive, sensitive and emotional. Besides that, the principal ingredient was missing: love. When you love your partner you want to see him/her thrive. He’s a poor little man with many complexes. He needs mummy ( Camilla) since his own mother was never there for him emotionally. What a tragic life really.
I actually keep thinking why he always runs back to camilla when diana is so much better than her in all ways..... then i now understand... its not a diana issue. Its HIM. He wants to be adored and babied and wants to still be 'better' than the girl. Something he cant be with Diana.
@@CJ-83 You hit this on the head. I've read people bashing Diana for dancing and how she's just such an attention wh*re at other youtube videos. Charles would totally appreciate it if Camilla was the one doing this for him. Diana has different way of expressing herself, obviously very different than what the Royals expected her to be. She's also very young and probably didn't think further, she just thought, oh I worked very hard to show him and the performance is for him, but she didn't the repercussion of it.
CJ 83 I see what you mean but this was her immaturity and poor judgement. It showed her lack of understanding her husband. This would have been lovely in a more PRIVATE setting. Not this.
@@tracys169 those ppl just jealous of her and this no diff with when someone singing or give a special tribute to their loved one. But he just dislike when the attention goes to her more.
They changed the time to make the story more dramatic. It didn't actually happen on his birthday rather a month or so after it at a some sort of VIP event.
We really do not know how this played out afterwards. Only Charles, Diana and the driver would have been able to tell us how Charles reacted and/or how Diana took what he said to her and how it was said. We take a lot of liberties but not having worked with the two of them (staff?) how can we really say what took place, how things played out. We heard the interviews given by Diana and believe that; we heard things from Charles and we believed that. So, I take all of these comments with a grain of salt.
This gave me goosebumps watching this. This woman was special. I don't understand how or why. But the whole world was and is of awe of her to this day. Maybe she is an angel in disguise and her children have angel DNA! 😁 Love always to the Princess!
Lady Diana, Princess of the World. She was loved by all and her constant presence will never fade. We love and miss you so Diana. You were family to us and your son's are our sons. You would be so proud of them.
@@venicawood3894 Maybe not by all but by most. I was in Asia when she died and even the poor people taped a photo of Diana on their doors as a sign of respect. Diana had kindness and compassion in a world where we find too little of it and the people loved her for that.
If this were done today, there would be 3 or 4 dozen, or more, people who caught it on their cellphones. I have always wished there were secret tapes of it too.
I think it was professionally filmed. Diana had this recorded dance (or a very similar one) done as a special gift for Charles. However, he was not as pleased / impressed as she hoped. If I remember correctly, she told this story and her disappointment in an interview.
Mikkibubble - I seem to recall the Prince's reaction from a biography of Diana: he was appalled. Afterward he sniffed, "Whatever could you be thinking? The Princess of Wales is not a showgirl." Diana was crushed, as she had prepared the surprise to impress him. She was competing with Camilla for his attention at the time.
Doesn’t matter where I am, what time of day, if I ever see those photos or hear that song, I cry, and I smile. They were a glorious dancing pair. Beautiful humans. Beautiful song. Princess Di carved out and created something extraordinary for all of us who love her.
This must have been beautiful. Wished we could see it. They just couldn't stand the attention she received from those who loved her. RIP DIANA You have been so missed.
@@taroman7100 , I just found this again. What a pity that she was told that she was too tall to be a dancer. This was true, with regards to Ballet, but she was obviously a natural when it comes to other forms of dance.
I really couldn’t understand Prince Charles. He married Princess Diana, Camila already married and have two children but he cant move on. Why Charles couldn’t forget camila, thats so strong
Such rubbish, she was mentally defective from the start CRAVING any affection, is awfully draining for anyone who comes in contact with these people from the start Charles was NEVER to blame for her inadequacies

Diana loves to dance. She was as aspiring dancer before she met him and she was even in a costume when Charles first saw her. This was her inner dancer breaking out exposing her genuine happiness of finally getting to perform and dance.
@@tracymcginty2242 You might be true but in my point of view she didn’t find. Why? Because nobody wants to sacrifice anything for her. She was willing to sacrifice herself for love. +Tina Rider Your heart maybe but not mine and many, many others who can see through that "I'm so shy!"persona. So fake. Please don't use the collective "our". Please don't count me in.
don't worry, you surely are not counted among the many zillions who love Diana...
Is that you Camilla Parker Bowl, masquerading as an old, dilapidated old hag, i mean wood
She lives on in Harry as well. You can see it.
Hello Tina
Who knew she could dance like that w/ out a choreographer, what a great story, she was very graceful..
Wayne is a great choreographer.
Princess Diana will be the best princess from all generations
She was such an enigma. Shy and nervous but on stage the confidence of any professional star ⭐️ her sons are so privileged to have had her as a mother even for such a short time ❤️
Too true.
She will always live in people minds.
Diana's Grace, beauty and her heart are timeless -- she would have been Queen for all..
While I miss diana , in this video i adore this cheerful man who is happily talking about her.... wish she would have had someone this enchanted by her side instead of that Charles.
She made almost everyone she met a little better . That was her gift.
earthdog1961
were you born in 1961 ? Sir/Madam did you, perhaps, met Diana ?
Well said! I totally agree!!! What a lovely man
I met Wayne Sleep on more than one occasion in theatres in London in the 80s/90s... I can confirm he really is a wonderful man and superb dancer! (You should check out his Jeremy Fisher/Beatrix Potter ballet :) )
She should have danced more....That was her true spirit....To be free and expressive.
Any husband would have jumped up clapping like a fool, beaming with pride and say, "that's MY wife!!!" But not Charles. He had no idea what a gem he had with Diana. Really, really sad.
He was probably acutely embarrassed, it was a very public event.
Charles knew very well what kind of exceptional wife he had. Therefore he berated her every chance he got.
She was a shining light of hope and beauty,so real,so beautiful,so deeply missed, love and peace
Princess Diana left us far too soon.
My mom read every book about her, and just adored her. She was very beautiful.
She was so lovely. I wish he had loved her like we did.
At least Diana's legacy is within her sons ... noticeable when they are
smiling and when they make their own choices ! Good job! I'm sure they miss her every day. What a treat this video is! RIP DEAR DIANA.
What a great surprise for everyone! We will always love our beautiful Diana. ❤️
@@sherrydrake9578 She did mention one of her affair.
They were just two polar opposites. Diana probably thought she could win him over. It is just so tragic that she died so young and did not get to see her children grow up.
Or see her grandchildren who she would have loved so very much
They killed her so Charles can have a good life with Camilla. It was the only way unfortunately...
@@JPontecore but that doesn't make sense because they were already divorced when Diana died.
@@JPontecore😂😂
Can we just talk about how this guy can still dance amazingly, and in jeans and sneakers to boot?
"Quietly confident" - yes! I think so too.
I believe the same.
Totally Melanie , yes indeed 😄

@@彼得傑瑞 how are you doing today look so beautiful 😍
It's a magical memory. Diana was proud of herself and he just crushed her. She deserved better.
She was class!
Hello christene
beautiful a woman with a beautiful smile how are you doing today how is the weather over there right now
You nailed it! Diana deserved so much better!
I actually keep thinking why he always runs back to camilla when diana is so much better than her in all ways..... then i now understand... its not a diana issue. Its HIM. He wants to be adored and babied and wants to still be 'better' than the girl. Something he cant be with Diana.
Of rubbish. She was a naive narcissist, too young to know what was required of her.
@@dorothysay8327 "too young to know what was required of her"!?!? So, you wanted to see her life exploited against her wishes???
@@gauravw6947 What about Charles having his life exploited against his wishes??? Or does that not count for some reason?
She tried and tried to give him something special but his jealousy and ego got in the way, such a weak guy.
That would have been special in a private setting - not this - nobody who knew Charles thought he would ever like something like this.
@@MTknitter22 she was young, she thought this gesture will make him happy, if this done by camilla he prob will be proud
What great memories he shared with the world of a decent, lovely woman. She was the people's princess!
Poor Diana- it was on Charles Birthday- she did this as a gift- he screamed and demeaned her for it. So undeserving of Diana
She just wanted to be loved when shes in the palace...even with his own husband. Im torn for her...
It's a drama; who knows what really happened.
Hey there
Lord, she was so lovely, lively, and amazing. Truly miss her presence, well deserved to be called 'Princess of the Hearts'
Princess Diana was Glorious that night! ❤️
This gave me goosebumps watching this. This woman was special. I don't understand how or why. But the whole world was and is of awe of her to this day. Maybe she is an angel in disguise and her children have angel DNA! 😁 Love always to the Princess!
Because of her heart, that’s why!
Charles didnt deserve our Princess Diana.
She lives in people's ❤️. Charles and his Camilla will never get that love n attention.
No woman deserves to be her husbands SECOND choice.
I would be so moved and impressed to see my love one perform for me. Ok it might a bit akward but at the end of the day it would make me so honored
He didn't and he doesn't. That's why karma decided that he won't be a king.lol
Charles was probably jealous of all the love, adoration, and attention Diana received. He wanted to be the center of attention.
This Wayne Sleep really beat the odds. Shorter than most male dancers, he showed what talent and perseverance can do.
WELL GUESS WHERE WE CAN SEE THIS NOW? THE CROWN!!!

I wish someone had filmed It! I'd love to see her in her glory!!!!
I guess Chuck would rather have seen Camilla up there. Ugh.
Ann Chovey i fervently agree! Milla is no beauty and *definitely no Queen of Hearts*
