The light notes of flute throughout most of the song resembles the lightweight and freedom of flight while being in a hurry, while the vocal brass being a reminder to the audience that the ornithocherius is on an epic journey across the atlantic ocean.
Even worse: the fossil that inspired this episode (a giant Tropeognathus, which was once thought to be a species of Ornithocheirus and oversized in the show) was destroyed when the National Museum in Rio de Janeiro burnt down. So even his fossilized corpse was destroyed.
LordOfThe Flightless Even worse when we realize that the fossil behind this episode (which isn’t that big, but still huge) was destroyed recently due to fire.
This actually sounds kind of scary. Really emphasizes that the giant pterosaurs were something to fear due to their immense dominance and almost dragon like appearance. What a sight, seeing something like this flying through the skies.
this soundtrack stuck with me for the 15 years in which I didn't watch this series, and I forgot what it was from, but I could have sung the melody to you at any point. I freaked out when I rewatched the series the other day and heard this again for the first time in over a decade

I agree. I still the ice forest episode is the weakest of the series, and Time of Titans was always my favorite. Death of a Dynasty was great too, and so was New Dawn. I think I watched Prehistoric Beasts more when I was younger, because I liked that before dinosaurs. The episode with the Indricothere was my favorite of that series.

This is the soundtrack from the 4th Episode of BBC'S Walking With Dinosaurs where the male Ornithocheirus is flying to his breeding site on the other side of the world so he can mate with a female
Jeffrey Gao Yeah, Argentavis was more massive, but the Pelagornis had a longer wingspan. Same can be said for Quetzaquotlas and Hatzegoptryx. Quetza had a longer wingspan, but Hatze was overall more massive.
Ding dong so long they call it long schlong we don't know if hatzegotryx was bigger all we have is some vertebrae so please don't spout out lies like that,
I remember me watching it while being 5, covered with goosebumps. Feeling the same right now in my 22. No fuck, I don't really know any OST from a single documetary that would be as atmospheric and appropriate for its plot. As for me, this stands on the same level with Zimmer. The life, the power, prehistoricity, space. The hope. The obscurity.
This brings back memories though this episode has a very sad ending. My favorite prehistoric creatures in this episode is Tapejara, Liopleurodon, & Polacanthus
Of all pterosaurs who appeared in the serie, the most well-known, the Pteranodon, was never named Peteinosaurus Anurognathus Ramphorhynchus Ornithocheirus Tapejara Quetzacoatlus
There were also 2 unnamed pterosaurs in Giant of the Skies and Spirits of the Ice Forest. The one from Giant of the Skies is seen flying at dawn just after the storm, flying in the cliffs later that day, and the Ornithocheirus later steals a fish from one. The one from Spirits of the Ice Forest is seen migrating south for the summer.
Karen Chin: (with her Tiara on her head) Spread out below down, dinosaurs. I am the majesty and spectacle of a world ruled by dinosaurs. Queen of the Giants! Tapejara: Your majesty! As Queen of the Giants, I command you to go to the forest!
Ornithocheirus was not knowed of so much people, but he need it, because THE ORNITHOCHEIRUS was the LARGERST flying creature ever exist!!! Edit: I know now that he not the largest, sorry!
Not to be that guy but both of you are running on information that was inaccurate a good 10-20 years ago. First off, Ornithocheirus was overblown in WWD, the specimen the WWD animal was based on was fragmentary and were hastily put into the Ornithocheirus genus due to vague similarities, after more in-depth study they were later found to belong to that of Tropeognathus, and due to the changes in proportions in the animal, the size was reevaluated to eight meters, still large, but not the twelve-meter animal seen in WWD. (Accuracy wise, WWD aged arguably just as bad as Jurassic Park). Ornithocheirus is now believed to have been around six meters in wingspan, so slightly longer than Pteranodon. Secondly, Quetzalcoatlus isn't the largest pterosaur either, that would be Hatzegopteryx, which while a few meters shorter, had far more muscles and was built much stockier, so may have weighed up to twice as much as Quetzalcoatlus. the wingspan of both animals are similar, with estimates ranging from 10-12 meters, however, due to their fragmentary nature, an exact value cannot be deducted.
