For anyone who has done everything correctly and the faces haven't changed, go to preferences in your save and search for ' use caching to decrease page loading times ' and turn it off and reload the skin and they will change, you can then change that setting back to on and it works for me :)

@@Rickon2506 if you're using a custom skin try changing to the default skin, clearing cache, reloading skin, and check if they load. if the have then you can change back to your regular skin
That's okay tho, when you're in your 8th year in in-game time inside FM, you'll never bother because they will be at least 24 years old which suits the face very well. But yeah, good suggestion tho
GANs are great at that kind of thing, I think that's what snapchat aging filters use. Anyway yeah I second this, would be great to start them looking young then use filters to age them very slightly each season, then if you do long term saves or experiments they end up looking 60 if they have gone into scouting or coaching or whatever. I'm getting waaay too ambitious here, but it would also be amazing to superimpose their club shirt on the picture too. That's asking too much though, this is great as it is.
Yes the mod is very cool , but there are also some 16 yrs old´s that easily have the face of someone who has 30 years old ahahahah . But anyway , this is the first step of something that in the next FM or FM that´s coming in 2 years would be way better .
This is single-handedly the absolute best thing that you can add to your FM playthrough. I can't stress enough how much immersion this provides for me, and how much i actually care more about every player when i see their stupid (faces are amazing btw) faces. A huge Thank You!
This is how you add faces to new regens in second year: 1) Do the same steps in the video 2) When you saving your RTF file, choose your old RTF file and overwrite. 3) Choose Preserve in mode section. 4) Allow Duplicates > Replace Faces
Hey Zealand great work. Might I add: when you are searching for newgens in the game using your filter, ensure Exclude >> untick players from your club. This will make sure your own newgens are included in the search. If you do not do this, your own newgens will not get new faces.
@@JuanHernandez-uh5fz I think he does that just because you have certain limitations as a coach (less global knowledge=less players that appear in your search). As the manager you add isn't coaching, he'll have access to every player in the world (I think), so every player will get a face.
Played this game since Championship manager days on the Amiga, this is hands down the best facepack I have ever seen introduced. Amazing job everyone who was involved in its creation!
Pro tip: make sure that when doing the ctrl/cmd+A part to make the rtf file, that you go into the search menu and un-click "exclude [your team] players" so that you don't spend 15 minutes like me wondering why ONLY your newgens didn't get the faces.
FM24 is my first new FM in over a decade and thought I'd splash out on graphics - this was a long process but I followed every step and it worked like a dream. Great video, thanks a lot!

For anyone trying to repeat the process the second season. If the replace faces button is grayed out and you can’t change image directory file or rtf file. Click on your profile name and change it to no profile, and then back to your profile name. Should work then.
If you do all the steps and it still shows old regen faces do this: FM -> Preferences Select "Interface" in top drop-down Under "SKIN" make sure you: UNTICK "Use caching to decrease page load times" TICK " Reload skin when confirmin changes in Preferences" Enjoy! ;)
This is incredible Zealand. I hope one day you could present this to SI if you wanted to incorporate this cool feature for everyone since downloading is quite convoluted which isn't necessarily a bad thing, other people might just not understand it. But also if you wanted to keep it independent from SI that's completely fine. Again, amazing work this is really cool as far as advancements go in FM.
For me, the final step was to reload the skin and clear cache. Lmao I started laughing like a madman when it worked. These regens that I've had for 10+ years actually have a recognizable face! lol!
@@owenfalconer4257 Check your preferences. Theres a little reset button in the bottom right. Click it and a menu will drop down and there will be a clear cache button. Clear it and press reload skin.
A word of note for some who - like me - took 6 days of deleting & reinstalling to figure it out: certain 'skins' stop these faces from showing, no matter how many times you reload skin or clear cache (the FM Scout Instant Result skin was my issue). First make sure you switch to the original FM skin - reload, clear cache, etc. and the faces should show if you've done it correctly. Then you can switch back to whatever skin you want.

This is a real gamechanger, absolutely fantastic. In previous versions I turned off the newgen faces because I can't stand them. This is so much better. Everyone should use this instead of the build in newgens.

Can you include how to import the faces player search view as some have been asking why the view doesn't appear to them? As well as the need to untick the filter for excluding your own teams players? Otherwise your regens are the only ones without faces! Keep up the great work!
He covers how to import the view. The coach you're using should have just been created and have no job. The search would be from that perspective, meaning your players with the main coach get included.
Zealand, do we have to export the text file again when we get new youth intake and then preserve, or just preserve on the first one? If we have to, do we overwrite same text file, or make new one?
I tried and it worked, just export the file again and overwrite, and then preserve. This is the best mod ever made for not only FM, but in history of games. Well done, and thank you.

Awesome stuff man, this is one of the most insane mods i know. I just tried to manually add non regens but still players without a face to the .rtf file to get them some new shiny faces. Unfortunately that did not work. Should that generally be possible or are the faces limited to actual regens only?
How have I only just found this. Incredible stuff. Now, if you can automate it so it just does the regens automatically (Or sell it to SI so they can just include it in the game rather than their Microsoft Paint generator that would be spiffing).
Hi, First of all, this is an awesome feature. I'd really like to use it, but I'm experiencing a problem. Is this installation method FM-Touch (21) compatible? I understand all of the steps, however I can't import the 'views-file' (probably because it is designed for the full version?). I tried doing it manually, but it seems I can't copy all of the needed categories. The error I get presents itself in the NewGAN Manager-app (I'm using Mac btw); it says my .rtf-file is invalid, when trying to generate the faces. I think this is because I ctrl+P it without the correct view. Is there anything I can do to prevent this or is there a way around this? Thank you & keep up the great work!

Honest to god, this is such a critical addition to the game. I just added it again for FM23 after having it for 22, and the difference is just night and day. SI should 100% buy this off you and the creators to implement into the game
Yeah, I found a little workaround. What I did was used the FM Genie Scout 20 because it has a "Is Regen" Filter in it. It's as simple as loading your game into FM20. Then opening FMGS20 and loading the game, then use the filter in the Player List tab, check the 'Is Regen' option, select all players, right-click them and add them to the shortlist, Go to the My Shortlist tab and export the shortlist, Import the shortlist into the game, SELECT the view Zealand has given and follow the steps he has told.

@@MrKala06 It worked for me after deleting the cache and then reloading the skin. Also for your own players appear in the shortlist you import into FM20 you have to use a manager without a club (like Zealand did). Then choose the short list version of the view and make your text file. Then use the generator. Then clear the cache and reload the skin.
@@xjunker If you're still having the problem you will find the newgen is folder inside the 'filters' folder. Just spent 20 minutes trying to work it out myself
Thank you for this, it's amazing. I wonder if the faces would be updated again further in the future. If so, it would be nice to have that rare cool hairstyle in every ethnicity as I don't see pictures with long hair, afro, braids, mohawk, bald hair etc. but definitely should be rare to come across and not on a lot of pictures. Hey Zealand, great work here. I am trying to use it on mac FM19 and it keeps getting stuck on "Map player to". The bar fills up around 25% right away with no progress to come. I noticed that the rtf file I created just has 2 instead of 3 columns with numbers at the end. Couldn't figure out why, though. Any idea if that might be the problem and why it's happening? Thanks in advance.
I don't have the filter available to import, even though it is saved in the correct location. Unfortunately had this issue with a lot of skins and tactics since switching to Mac. Anyone know of a fix? Thanks in advance!
In notepad, open the rtf file that you save with all the newgen players in it. You'll see a row for each player contains their ID in the game. You need to add "r-" in front of all of those IDs. From what I can see they mostly start with 2002 so I just replaced "2002" with "r-2002". There is probably one or two players that hasn't worked for but if I spot any, I'll just go into the rtf file and update manually. Save that rtf file and it seems to have worked for me
Can confirm this saved me a lot of headache. I had players with different numbers not just 2002, so in notepad I just CTRL + H and replaced /1,/2,/3 etc with /r-1,/r-2,/r-3 and so on. Cheers dude
Can confirm this does work with the Game Pass version of the game, just make sure to put the facepack files in C:\Users\[User]\Documents\Sports Interactive\Football Manager 2021\Gamepass\graphics Also extract the filter & view folders into this folder ^^
Will this process be simplified in future? Is there plans to improve process or is this it. Would def be interested if it automatically done it each year to regens.
I'm also having this issue. Using the correct view etc. and the .rtf appears within game as it can be overwritten but it won't appear to put into the profile on NewGAN-Manager
The pack is great! It has made its way into the small cicrle of mods I can't play FM without. I tried to replace staff faces, but failed. I'm far from a technician when it comes to computers, but even I pulled this one off in FM 2020. The filter wasn't visible, but I just exported a list of players younger than 23. This works fine as well and you don't have to be afraid it replaces already existing player faces. They just replace the newgen faces. Furthermore i put the original skin back in order for it to work and i needed to reload the skin as well at preferences (advanced). I'm so happy now :)
@@synapsenfick6841 provided filters doesn't work with versions older than FM21, how did you bypass that to get list of newgens with proper filter applied?
boggles my mind, utterly, that a group of people came up with this, it's genius, just taken the dive. SI should go all in on developing this for the games properly (they won't) but just looks a million million times' better than the awful (they even got worse for 22) regen faces.
Zealand has already a Regen Facepack for FM20 on FMBase . You go into the FM20 Forum, and then FM20 Downloads. One of the first Posts is Zealands Real Faces on Regens. He also has an Installation Guide Video on the Channel.
EDIT: skip that step, that's just a filter to search for newgens. You can replicate it yourself, just search for players under 17, or if you're in season two, then under 18 and so on. You can create your own regen/ newgen search filter and save it if you want, but it's not necessary to get the facepack working I don't think.
It looks fantastic, doesn’t work for me yet. At clicking ‘Replace Faces’ , I get the pop-up with ‘The RTF file doesn’t exist’ . Anyone knows what to do?
i seem to be having an issue where the bar after i click the generate faces button doesn't change and i get no message saying it is done. Any ideas people?
@@WanderLucifer This was the KEY error for me. Did not pick up on that the new "player search view" in views had to be placed in the GAME within views. This is an extremely important step that seemed to be glossed over. I proceeded onward after this and with some trial and error, ACTUALLY GOT IT TO WORK. Yea.. Thank you for pointing this out.
Pasting a comment I saw on the Download page, TO MAKE IT WORK IN FM20: "Seeing as I've gotten it to work perfectly on FM20 and have helped others to do the same I thought I'd post instructions on how to do it here. The issue on older versions of FM is that you cannot import the "is newgen" filter provided and the tool only works on 10-digit UIDs so there cannot be any real players in the .rtf file you save, so you have to make it yourself which requires the in-game editor so you can filter for hidden variables. Follow the instructions provided, but on step 13 instead of importing the filter you go into "Edit Search", click the arrow next to "Add Condition" -> "Hidden" -> "Is newgen". Then you set the condition to "Is Not" and leave the field blank. That filters the search to only newgens (this is exactly what the imported filter does). Make sure this is the only active condition, so you don't filter away any newgens (and that you don't exclude your own players, the provided instructions tell you how to do this). Then you continue to follow the steps in the provided instructions as written. I got this to work on FM20 but it should work the same on older versions of FM as long as the newgens have 10-digit UIDs and you can import the "SCRIPT FACES player search" view so the correct variables are included in the .rtf file." by A.Fant @ FM Base I followed the advice and can confirm it works.
Great work Zealand and I'm really excited to use it! However, when I'm searching for the NewGAN manager in my PC it won't pop up. I have downloaded the files over and over again, but it doesn't seem to work. Any idea how to fix it?
You hsve to search in the search bar in the bottom left, not in file explorer. That happened to me. You also probably need to download it through the installer inside the .zip file.
Important detail: your own youth players will not be listed, if you use your own manager. So I advise you to always use the additional manager workaround.
I assume you can't filter for staff in the player search, so how do you replace regen staff faces? Or does the filter work in the Staff Search as well?

First time I've ever played beyond 5 seasons without getting bored due to regens. Absolutely great tool, awesome work!
This is how you add faces to new regens in second year:

Awesome stuff man, this is one of the most insane mods i know. I just tried to manually add non regens but still players without a face to the .rtf file to get them some new shiny faces. Unfortunately that did not work. Should that generally be possible or are the faces limited to actual regens only?
How have I only just found this. Incredible stuff. Now, if you can automate it so it just does the regens automatically (Or sell it to SI so they can just include it in the game rather than their Microsoft Paint generator that would be spiffing).

First of all, this is an awesome feature. I'd really like to use it, but I'm experiencing a problem. Is this installation method FM-Touch (21) compatible? I understand all of the steps, however I can't import the 'views-file' (probably because it is designed for the full version?). I tried doing it manually, but it seems I can't copy all of the needed categories.
The error I get presents itself in the NewGAN Manager-app (I'm using Mac btw); it says my .rtf-file is invalid, when trying to generate the faces. I think this is because I ctrl+P it without the correct view. Is there anything I can do to prevent this or is there a way around this?

Honest to god, this is such a critical addition to the game. I just added it again for FM23 after having it for 22, and the difference is just night and day. SI should 100% buy this off you and the creators to implement into the game

The views and filter files don't appear within their folders for me on FM20 and MAC. Any work around?
Yeah, I found a little workaround. What I did was used the FM Genie Scout 20 because it has a "Is Regen" Filter in it.
It's as simple as loading your game into FM20. Then opening FMGS20 and loading the game,
then use the filter in the Player List tab,
check the 'Is Regen' option,
select all players,
right-click them and add them to the shortlist,
Go to the My Shortlist tab and export the shortlist,
Import the shortlist into the game,
SELECT the view Zealand has given and follow the steps he has told.
@@UdaySaini11 Hey man, how did you get it to work? I followed alle steps, including your workaround. The NewGan program finishes, but the faces stay the same (yes, I reloaded my skin). Could you maybe help me out with this? :)

@@MrKala06 It worked for me after deleting the cache and then reloading the skin. Also for your own players appear in the shortlist you import into FM20 you have to use a manager without a club (like Zealand did). Then choose the short list version of the view and make your text file. Then use the generator. Then clear the cache and reload the skin.

Done all the steps in the video and when it says finish and go back into the game it doesn't work the regen faces are still the same

After I hit import on filters I don't have any options for "is newgen search filter" I have done all other steps, but nothing shows up at this part.

@@xjunker If you're still having the problem you will find the newgen is folder inside the 'filters' folder. Just spent 20 minutes trying to work it out myself
Thank you for this, it's amazing. I wonder if the faces would be updated again further in the future. If so, it would be nice to have that rare cool hairstyle in every ethnicity as I don't see pictures with long hair, afro, braids, mohawk, bald hair etc. but definitely should be rare to come across and not on a lot of pictures. But yeah, it's just an idea I thought id share. Thank you for this and stay awesome
Hey Zealand, great work here. I am trying to use it on mac FM19 and it keeps getting stuck on "Map player to". The bar fills up around 25% right away with no progress to come. I noticed that the rtf file I created just has 2 instead of 3 columns with numbers at the end. Couldn't figure out why, though. Any idea if that might be the problem and why it's happening? Thanks in advance.
Yeah I have the same issue on fm 21, just keeps getting stuck on "map player to" and I can't figure out why its not working either

I don't have the filter available to import, even though it is saved in the correct location. Unfortunately had this issue with a lot of skins and tactics since switching to Mac. Anyone know of a fix?

In notepad, open the rtf file that you save with all the newgen players in it. You'll see a row for each player contains their ID in the game. You need to add "r-" in front of all of those IDs. From what I can see they mostly start with 2002 so I just replaced "2002" with "r-2002". There is probably one or two players that hasn't worked for but if I spot any, I'll just go into the rtf file and update manually. Save that rtf file and it seems to have worked for me
Can confirm this saved me a lot of headache. I had players with different numbers not just 2002, so in notepad I just CTRL + H and replaced /1,/2,/3 etc with /r-1,/r-2,/r-3 and so on. Cheers dude
I couldn't get NEWGAN Manager to accept the altered .rtf file, so I just edited the config.xml I had already generated and it worked fine.

you hero, this sorted for me, easiest was is is replace the path, for me that was faces/ with faces/r-
the new release of newgan manager supposedly fixes the need to do this but I haven't confirmed it yet
Can confirm this does work with the Game Pass version of the game, just make sure to put the facepack files in C:\Users\[User]\Documents\Sports Interactive\Football Manager 2021\Gamepass\graphics
Also extract the filter & view folders into this folder ^^
The filter and views dont show in game so how do I select them in game?

Having an issue with Rtf file not appearing after saving it. Any suggestions? On Mac.
I'm also having this issue. Using the correct view etc. and the .rtf appears within game as it can be overwritten but it won't appear to put into the profile on NewGAN-Manager

I'm far from a technician when it comes to computers, but even I pulled this one off in FM 2020. The filter wasn't visible, but I just exported a list of players younger than 23. This works fine as well and you don't have to be afraid it replaces already existing player faces. They just replace the newgen faces. Furthermore i put the original skin back in order for it to work and i needed to reload the skin as well at preferences (advanced). I'm so happy now :)

I know it is a bit late but I got it running on FM19 so I guess it should work on FM21.

boggles my mind, utterly, that a group of people came up with this, it's genius, just taken the dive. SI should go all in on developing this for the games properly (they won't) but just looks a million million times' better than the awful (they even got worse for 22) regen faces.

Zealand has already a Regen Facepack for FM20 on FMBase . You go into the FM20 Forum, and then FM20 Downloads. One of the first Posts is Zealands Real Faces on Regens. He also has an Installation Guide Video on the Channel.

Does it work for FM20? Because I am trying to import the filter but it doesn't apper..
EDIT: skip that step, that's just a filter to search for newgens. You can replicate it yourself, just search for players under 17, or if you're in season two, then under 18 and so on. You can create your own regen/ newgen search filter and save it if you want, but it's not necessary to get the facepack working I don't think.

Maybe you saved you new RTF file in a different location? Just select it again and try again

I had problems with doing it for the third time. Deleting prewious rtf files helped. i also did generate preserve and overide :)
The face pack was working well up until the UI stopped opening, I deleted and redownloaded but now it won’t install, anyone know any fix?

i seem to be having an issue where the bar after i click the generate faces button doesn't change and i get no message saying it is done. Any ideas people?
Fixed now if anyone else is having the same issue you use the folder that contains update in the name not the base folder shown in the video

@@WanderLucifer This was the KEY error for me. Did not pick up on that the new "player search view" in views had to be placed in the GAME within views. This is an extremely important step that seemed to be glossed over. I proceeded onward after this and with some trial and error, ACTUALLY GOT IT TO WORK. Yea.. Thank you for pointing this out.

Pasting a comment I saw on the Download page, TO MAKE IT WORK IN FM20:
"Seeing as I've gotten it to work perfectly on FM20 and have helped others to do the same I thought I'd post instructions on how to do it here.
The issue on older versions of FM is that you cannot import the "is newgen" filter provided and the tool only works on 10-digit UIDs so there cannot be any real players in the .rtf file you save, so you have to make it yourself which requires the in-game editor so you can filter for hidden variables. Follow the instructions provided, but on step 13 instead of importing the filter you go into "Edit Search", click the arrow next to "Add Condition" -> "Hidden" -> "Is newgen". Then you set the condition to "Is Not" and leave the field blank. That filters the search to only newgens (this is exactly what the imported filter does). Make sure this is the only active condition, so you don't filter away any newgens (and that you don't exclude your own players, the provided instructions tell you how to do this). Then you continue to follow the steps in the provided instructions as written. I got this to work on FM20 but it should work the same on older versions of FM as long as the newgens have 10-digit UIDs and you can import the "SCRIPT FACES player search" view so the correct variables are included in the .rtf file."

Great work Zealand and I'm really excited to use it! However, when I'm searching for the NewGAN manager in my PC it won't pop up. I have downloaded the files over and over again, but it doesn't seem to work. Any idea how to fix it?
You hsve to search in the search bar in the bottom left, not in file explorer. That happened to me. You also probably need to download it through the installer inside the .zip file.

Important detail: your own youth players will not be listed, if you use your own manager. So I advise you to always use the additional manager workaround.

I assume you can't filter for staff in the player search, so how do you replace regen staff faces? Or does the filter work in the Staff Search as well?
