Lucas, while you say this is mundane, these are some fantastic tips for every day things that make your stay hassle free and an easy transition. Thanks
Excellent content Loucous and loved all the detail, especially the deep cleaning of the condo and the bed. Many dont think of the tenant who lived there before you. Nicely done 👍
Good to know about the mattress cleaning services. A deep clean with steamed the special vacuum cleaner head you showed re4ally takes out the bed bugs.
And don't forget if you are buying your own towels and bedding you will need somewhere to store the owners stuff. Also you will need to have two of each after all what are you going to sleep in when you do decide to launder your sheets. If you are renting for two or three months a year is there a company that stores all your gear whilst you are away and do/can they set up your accommodation the day before you arrive.. sounds like a business plan!
Yeah ~ I wondered if Lou signed his reantl contract and it has list of all the materials in the condo unit like all the utensils, plates, pots, sheets, etc. so when he moves, they do a check off.
I watch your videos here in Phnom Penh. Can't wait to come back to Patty. You are such a relaxing guy! Love your content. Keep it up brother and hope to see you someday!
Thanks for taking time to share this valuable information. In your current condo ~ 1. What is the process to have something fixed that breaks? Such as the toilet? 2. If you use the dishes and kitchen electronics supplied in your condo and one breaks, are you responsible for replacement? 3. Does wifi come automatically in your new condo or did you have to set that up?
Contact the Juristic office if you need repairs, if you break it you may have to buy it, and there is usually free wifi in condo buildings but I always opt for my own secure connection.
Phenomenal advice 👍 Never considered having someone clean the mattress. Never had bed bugs at any hotel or place ive stayed at and would freak out if I did
@@Rides4Kickz I just bought a new mattress here in the UK and donated my old one to Oxfam (great condition but sagging). I asked the guy who collected it what they did with them and he said they sort the best for recycling and put them through a huge steam cleaning type machine so they come out like new. Great advice about cleaning and the topper. Thai mattresses do tend to be very hard. Thanks.

Hi Lucus, thank you for your insights, those Dollar stores are ideal for your basic set-up and you don't need to spend a fortune. My suggestion is to get the basics and then add to them as time goes by and you know your needs better don't go buying expensive items in the short term because you might move two or three times before you find the perfect place for you. 8:20 That rice cooker I blew up on the second use. The one I bought in the UK - German made - is a lot more idiot proof. The Thai one can't cope with drops of water inside, or mine couldn't. Blew the circuit breaker. If you're a cheap Charlie that rice cooker is your friend. Five baht of dry rice, one baht of electricity, you've got 825 kcals of starch. Chuck a 20 baht bag of curry on it, and it's your evening meal for 26 baht! The little bags of rice from the street carts are way more expensive than anything else for what you get, and fluffy, fresh rice cooker rice is better. I used to put the rice on when I went to the gym, and the "stay warm" function clicks on and keeps it warm. Come back having picked up a bag of curry and you can eat right away.
@@DRock7977 There's a whole load of RUclips stuff on that, but I wouldn't! It's a boiling vessel that shuts off when the vibration stops. Mine has a Teflon pan, so the rice comes out when I invert it as a big white disc. Once you add anything else in there you've more of a cleaning problem. The other big thing is a $30 induction plate and a cast iron (or other compatible) pan. That's the way to go for other cooking. A kg of chicken breasts is TescoLotus is only 60 baht. Interesting. Make me think back 25 years to my first purchase a townhouse from a New Zealander to take over his 30 years lease. Only thing I bought was a washing machine, Even right now in my current owned apartment I still have some of the nice lighting fittings.

To give a comparing idea. Setting up a house and How Much. I think we spent about Thb 550,000 to decorate a whole house. 3 bed and 3 bathrooms. I have never moved into a home that comes with all the things that it sounds like Thai condos do! Bed & Mattress?? Small appliances? Furniture?? No chance. I really think I would prefer to buy a brand new mattress, and maybe furniture anyway tho. I really don't like the thought of sitting or sleeping full time where others have. What budget to rent a room, instead of an apartment, in Pattaya - no A/C, communal bathroom, electricity for fan and phone charging ? I'm thinking that I want to own as little as possible in the early days.
Excellent stuff Lucas. Would never have thought to get condo/bed deep cleaned prior to moving in. Big thumbs up from me. By the way I see so many people spelling your name differently. What's the correct way?

I think it applies to owners who have 5+ condos (saw that somewhere).
Interesting. Just watched a video on Mackem and Thai channel with interview with a guy who just got a new condo and said he had to pay 2 months rent deposit. Cant remember name of place but in Pattaya and he said it was nice and quiet. 10,000 baht a month and before covid they were going for 20,000 +, so rents halved in a year
Interesting video.
What budget to rent a room, instead of an apartment, in Pattaya - no A/C, communal bathroom, electricity for fan and phone charging ? I'm thinking that I want to own as little as possible in the early days.
as little as 3k baht per month for no frills basic room.
Thanks ,very useful 👍
Quality video 🤩
Excellent stuff Lucas. Would never have thought to get condo/bed deep cleaned prior to moving in. Big thumbs up from me. By the way I see so many people spelling your name differently. What's the correct way?
How did you go about looking up mattress cleaning service company? I didn’t know that was available. Very useful video.
facebook, they were called Mattress Clean Pattaya I believe and I sent them a message on FB and they came right over.
We use Dream Hygiene a Bangkok based company with a team permanently working in Pattaya.
@@bloomy14 Are you happy with their service?

Whats your views about the grand Solaire project mate.. Your views would be much appreciated mate.. 👌🏼👌🏼
Curious about other set up fees like internet hookup charges and the like. If you move your acct from one side of town to another what are the fees for something like that?
Very helpful!
Lucas, where do you find a mattress cleaners in Pattaya? TIA
Great info. I'm in the process of finding my 1st condo now. Can you recommend a Property Agent? How does it work here in Pattaya? Seems like the Agents I have found only have a couple properties. Is there anyone who can take me around and show me several different condos around town?
Found your membership page, lot's of great info and well worth the money. Thanks Lucas.
Great video , very helpful
Glad to hear it!
