This worked! I've had the Cobb Stage 1+ Big SF going for around a year now, when all of sudden the DAM started dropping with FKL going erratic with a few -4 Feedback Knocks here and there. I read somewhere else about the MAF sensor and the filter position, but thanks for pointing out the MAP sensor. It was covered in oil and black stuff too. Now my DAM is happily on it's way back up with no knocks (other than phantom), and positive FKL values.
I was just tuned by JR, so I haven’t checked any numbers since then. The other day, I was changing my low beam bulb and am 90% sure I knocked the Cobb filter and moved it out of position. I used this video to also clean my MAF and MAP at the same time. Had to readjust my filter several times, but my numbers are finally closer to zero. Thank you!!
Just for added measure for anyone else experiencing -11 or higher af learning: For me, anything further than -10.16 is usually the result of a coupler coming loose on my charge pipe where it meets my turbo. I have a Perrin FMIC. For example: if I start getting -11.xx, -12.xx, or more af learning 1 readings, my coupler has been the culprit every time 😂 Hope this helps.
Brooo thanks so much for watching!!! Feel free to share to spread the word! The intake filter placement is something people overlook. I’m glad it worked it for you.
Had similar issues on 13wrx with a ej257. Stay away from the cobb intakes. Make sure all pipes and hoses are tight. Be careful with aftermarket 02 sensors or maf sensors. Inspect sensors for dirtiness and clean with correct chemical. If you do have a cobb switch out the filter to aem or k and n and get a t style clamp. Make sure you get a tune!!

I cleaned the map sensor. It was covered in black oil. I also recleaned the maf sensor and repositioned my air intake. I also reflashed my tune. I have always just put the intake on exactly 1 inch. But this time I tried it in different positions as you've shown. It turns out that on my car it works best at just over 1/2 inch. I've put over 100 miles on since and my A/F readings have been looking great. Again thanks so much for the video and the information.

I have the same issue on my 2021 WRX, I recently got a new replacement filter for my Cobb Big SF intake, and I cleaned my MAF a few weeks ago, but my AF is still -20 to -28 when idling sometimes. I'll try cleaning the MAP sensor.
@@blackdiamondyt2838 I pretty much tried everything I saw on NASIOC and other forums regarding this issue. Long story short, a walnut blast fixed the P0172, which by the way is necessary and very worth the money for many other reasons. However, my AF learning still dips below -10 sometimes, but never below -18 anymore. The BigSF intake is the biggest culprit, since it has an inherent design flaw in its piping layout and MAF mount, and my tuner and shop both recommend going to the new SF intake. I'm still saving up for that as well as a couple other mods, but in the meantime it's been running fine.

Reset the car computer by disconnecting both terminals and then touching them together for 30 seconds. Alternatively, if you are running an aftermarket tuning device (such as the Cobb Accessport), change the map to 'Stage 0', then reset the ECU (via the Accessport) and then change the map back to the original. This should temporarily resolve the issue for a week or so, at least well enough to let you drive from A to B for a while 4. Perform IAG EGR delete, see ruclips.net/video/gvVmCU2ElN0/видео.html for instructions 5. Replace upstream O2 Sensor (pre CAT). Replace the downstream O2 sensor (post CAT). While highly unlikely that this will be the culprit, in some rare cases this sensor can be problematic. My af correction is at 20-30 at idle, what would be the cuase of that, I checked vacuum lines all seem good. Also when I rev the car up and let go of gas the rooms drop and feel like the car is going to turn off

No problem, thanks for watching it! Yes, definitely. Any leak Pre-catback may cause af numbers to be skewed. I only know from experience because when my tmic coupler popped off during WOT, my Af correction went to -50+%. But yes, any leak pre-catback can cause abnormal numbers.
Would replacing o2 sensor would work? My car it’s at -20/-32 and when I accelerate slowly it stays at -18 it’s kinda misfiring but I have no codes I’m guessing my tuner (Mikey) disable that any suggestions?
If it’s misfiring then I would check the spark plugs and coil packs. Mine recently shut off after a WOT pull in 3rd and I’m thinking it’s cutting out due to the plugs. Hard to say if it’s due to the o2 sensor or not.
That’s exactly what mine did and the intake filter placement fixed the issue. It took a while to find the “right” spot but once you do, your numbers shouldn’t exceed that amount anymore.

Today I drove it & I had some noise coming from my engine bay in 1st . Any ideas ?
Seems like you have an exhaust leak somewhere, especially if you hear a clunk. I would make sure your bolts on the j-pipe to catback connection is tight. If they’re tight already, you probably need a donut gasket or adapter of some sort to ensure that it’s fully sealed.

Hey man so before i change my sparkplugs i was running at -8.59 to +8.59 af learning 1 readings. But when i changed my sparkplugs it rose up to 0.00 to +30. What do you think would be the problem? Earlier today my car got stall when i was at stoplight then i got a cel code p0171. Then i tried deleting the code then kinda fixing the positioning of my intake and cleaning the maf sensor then reflash my ots tune. Now i have -4.59 to +10.59 readings and when im driving i have 0.00 af learning 1. Do you think is it normal now? Or should i try cleaning the map sensor too
Cleaning the map sensor wouldn’t hurt. Just be very careful with that bolt on the intake manifold since it’s very easy to strip. Are you sure the spark plugs were properly gapped?
2018wrx just got pro tuned and my af reads -20 and idle and then when I give it gas it goes to normal do you think that’s normal ?
-20 isn’t the worst but I would suggest looking into possible leaks. Here’s the latest issue I found with my car: ruclips.net/video/lDGN-05stKs/видео.html
I just installed my Cobb Sf big intake and IAG AOS and im having code p0171 issue so ill be falling these steps and my AF is high during idle like 30s and 40s.
Willing to bet you have a vacuum leak somewhere, especially after installing the intake and AOS.
@@ronfromportland Yea that was my first thought so Im going to do a smoke test along with going over cleaning the MAP and MAF sensors just to make sure.
Can I refer to this video in a 06 legacy gt? It has the ej 255
Layout will be different but concept should be the same, depending on your intake. I had an 08 Legacy GT but it never had AF issues.
@@ronfromportland mine has af issues, driving it it’s around -7% then when idling it goes down to -13%
@@ronfromportland the problems are kicking up, just got a code for running too lean, along with a code for running too rich. I take that I should be worried about this but what causes this because I really got the 2 codes at the same time?
@@carlitos.1 that I’m not entirely sure since I’ve never had both codes at the same time. Can start by cleaning the MAF extension harness. Those often get corrosion which causes these types of issues.
Good content
Thank you 👏
My af learning is always 0. My corrections is running up to -50%
Af correction is -31 and all he told me is I have a af leak
Are you tuned by Clint Summerfelt?
I am not but I’ve chatted with him here and there.
I just got the code p0171 help
Running lean. Follow the steps and see if that helps.
fk the cobb intake. its junkk. i hate myself for buying it. what a waste
Here was the latest issue with mine ruclips.net/video/lDGN-05stKs/видео.html
Don’t but these, complete waste of time and money
@@kcovac2029 I mean, if that’s how you feel !
