I’m an old soul! I’m also 53! I grew up listening to my mom sing these songs while she ironed dad’s work shirts. Wow anyone still iron out there? Mom would have been 82 yo, but she passed earlier in the year. Man, I can’t stop crying. These two had the most beautiful harmonizing I think I’ve ever heard. Mom loved these two and so did I! Miss mom as I try to relive those great old days. Peace everyone.

I am eighty now, and can't listen to them without having to wipe my eyes. In 1960, a friend and I performed three of their songs to an audience of about seven hundred in the southern part of the Netherlands, where I grew up.
I stood right next to Phil looking into a shoe store window in Georgetown in 1973. I said hello and he said a few words to me. It was surreal ! What a gorgeous head of hair!

I'm not late in writing this. Even though it's been 20 days since Don Everly died. I've been very much moved; to say the least. I learned to enjoy The Everly Brothers in early 60s. Even then; as a youngster, I saw the immense talent and awesome beauty in their music. Rest in peace Don and Phil Everly. The magic you created and that lives in me WILL NEVER CEASE. We'll be in the same realm again. In due time. God bless you brothers.
I stumbled on an old records song book in 1967during Nigeria civil war, 1was 11years then and was taught all their songs. I grew up and it has not left my collection till tomorrow.❤
The Everlys’ producer for their LP ‘EB84, Dave Edmunds said: “They just look straight into each other’s eyes and sing. Then for twenty minutes you think this is not going to work or maybe this isn’t the right song, and then suddenly it clicks. It’s like they’re free-falling and suddenly their parachute opens, and when that happens, look out. You’ve never heard singing like it. They’re the best. They’re natural singers, the only natural singers I’ve come across. All the people I’ve worked with, and this includes myself, have learned the musical terms and how to do it but Don and Phil don’t work like that. It’s fascinating to see it. When they hit their stride it’s genius working. It’s two and two equals five and it’s wonderful when it happens.” In another interview he said, “Don and Phil are intuitive singers. People like myself and others that I know in the business who sing...we learned how to do it; we learned how to hold a note, or to control a vibrato, or to count bars so you know when to come in. They never did - it’s all intuitive. Especially with Don - the solo bits he does. If you ask him to do them over and over again, they’ll be completely different each time.”
Unbelievable harmony from the late and great Don and Phil THE EVERLY Brothers. RIP play them on my internet radio show Classic Soul me the Masterblaster.
They inspired so many great talents. Their songs of the fifties and sixties unforgettable. I met Don at a solo gig in Berkeley, Ca. He was a beautiful warm man, so down to earth, and still a monumental talent.
So sad to learn of Don s passing. I was privileged to meet Phil and Don after their concert at the Spektrum Oslo Norway on 24 July 2004 when they appeared with Simon and Garfunkel in concert. I had the greatest pleasure having seen them previously at the Royal Albert Hall London on September 23 1983. I had followed their music closely since my early days at Grammar School in England from 1957. Together with the Byrds and the Moody Blues they were my all time favourites and they will be sadly missed but their music lives on. A brilliant duo!
They may be in harmony while singing but away from the stage, they despised one another. Completely different personalities. Different politics. They never got on. Rarely spoke. Only met when they were on stage. Separate dressing rooms. Separate tour buses. Yet when they sing....Magic
@whatsnottohike - Please don't believe Hollywood lies and rumors that were spread to hype sales and publicity. Don and Phil did not "despise one another." The brothers loved each other very much. Their hearts, minds, souls, and Appalachian harmonies were rooted in family traditions and the music their father taught them. Don described their musical harmony as "reading each other's minds." That kind of congruence is not at all coincidental. It is emotional and empathic and does not abruptly end when performers leave the stage. The Everly Brothers did not perform publicly for ten years during the BIG SPLIT, but look deeper. By 1973, "the boys" were in their mid-30's and had been professional musicians for 30 years. They had a great deal of money, but there was no way to get off the touring treadmill in those days except to quit cold. Contractual touring had ruined both their marriages. So they planned to announce that they would stop performing together in order to work independently. That plan was already scheduled before the 1973 final performance. For ten years, they did not perform together publicly, but their private lives were not for public consumption. Have you ever tried to break up a Kentucky family? They will go underground and not come up 'til Beaver's Creek before they allow "outsiders" to get into "family business." The "split" was their way of ending business control by "the industry" and bringing their own music back under their own management. The Everly Brothers watched the entertainment industry kill Elvis (who was dying long before he died), and they were determined not to let the music industry kill them and destroy their families. Do you think they would ever tell that truth outside the family? If you do, then you don't know Kentucky men at all.
My favorite Phil Everly song is "Patiently." My favorite Don Everly song is "Sad to Watch Good Love Go Bad." Best Everly Brothers songs: "Why Worry," "You Make It Seem So Easy," and "On the Wings of a Nightingale." I may not have typed the titles correctly, but Everly fans know what I mean. I thank God that we have these videos to see over and over. RIP, dear Everly Brothers.
Yvonne you have a great list of songs I agree with you. I enjoy Follow the Sun, The Story of Me, Alone are great songs. The Everly Brothers are fantastic. I'm introducing their music to my Grand daughter and she enjoyed their music. Stay safe, healthy and happy.

Wow! I thought they were going to open with a Neil Young song "Harvest Moon"! Perfect hair, and perfect harmony after all the years spent together. I remember at the time Tom Petty did a spot for them saying "We flew over from LA for this and we'd do it again tomorrow". The brothers did a pretty good job of getting past their differences to rehearse for this and do a great job. Good camera work and editing too.
I'm 75 & also remember them. I loved listening to them. We had an old Victrola.. one of my favorite songs was Bird Dog. I saved my money to buy a 45 & one day my brother put in on the edges of the Victrola & slammed the top down.

They were two very different and distinct personalities❤️2022
They did not speak the last years of their lives. From what I've read they did not get along at all
The Sherman Brothers, Robert and Richard who wrote many memorable songs we all know and love did not get along either.
I am always a teenager again when I hear these two guys! R.I.P Don and Phil.
They look and sound fantastic in their late 40s.
Literally the greatest duet ever, and that's saying something.
So sad they are both gone..they made beautiful music..
EB84 album is fabulous! My favourite song: On the Wings of a Nightingale starts here at 15.00 min. Never knew it was written by Paul McCartney!

Perfect, seamless harmonies. On a scale of 1 to 100, Don and Phil are a 107.
The most amazing thing I have discovered reading up about them is that their mother has outlived them both.
