Buddy Emmons on pedal steel guitar. Remember I saw them with my girlfriend in 1976. She said they reminded her of The Beatles. No wonder, I told her, The Beatles were greatly influenced by The Everlys, like so many other groups and singers. True legends.
Perfect pitch, mellow melodies, likely responsible for rock and rolls advent. Worshiped and imitated by the Beatles and many more. Just no end to their contributions.

I saw comments from so many 77 yo fans. Add me to that list. What seems amazing to me is I’m willing to bet, if you are like me, you remember all the words of these songs. And we can do that even though at our age people believe we just might be unable to remember anything. Maybe, that’s part of the definition of LEGEND. 8:04
How I envy anyone who has been to an Everly Brothers concert. My one big regret in life is not making the effort to see them live, even if I had to fly to the US. ❤the Everly's forever!
I had the pleasure of seeing them many times. Even got to talk to them a few times too. Phil was much more approachable and such a gentleman. There will never be none better!
Don and Phil were always my favourites ever since my early 20s. I'm now 75 and they're still my favourites! I was lucky enough to get their autographs in the UK back in the day!
Two of the most humble guys! Great vocal harmonies and great individual voices. That era is sadly gone, but am thankful to have grown up listening to them.
Brilliant and great music The Everly Brothers. My beautiful Ebony Eyes 👀 and Let it be ME my beautiful mothers Favourite so sad and beautiful and great from the great Everly Beautiful Brothers.
Barry Chitwood, I' m so sorry for the loss of your brother and no I don't think we ever get over losing our dear loved ones. I can only hope that with the passage of time you can somehow come to deal with his passing and find peace. Maybe that might be what he would want you to do. You and your brother must have been very close. It was 17 years ago this past December that I lost my only son. He was only 42 years old and like your brother he too died from a massive heart attack. That was the biggest hurt I have ever had. There are no words to explain. I felt like I just could not go on but somehow we have to. I too was so saddened at Don's passing. Just thinking that both he and Philip are gone now and we'll never again see them sing together on this earth blending their beautiful voices in harmony as only they could do, it gives us such a sad feeling. But you know what, we can just be glad and thankful for the time we had them and the beautiful music they gave us that we can still listen to. I'm so grateful for the years I had with my baby boy who grew into a wonderful man and left me a precious grandson. I'm grateful too for the years you got to spend with your brother and I know you must have some beautiful memories of him. May those memories bring you comfort. Just know that you are not alone in your grief. Others care. I hope my words bring you some consolation. I know death of our loved ones is not easy for us to bear. Just hang in there. Things will get better I promise.
Don left us today.RIP..I saw the brothers live in Adelaide in the late 1950s..simply beautiful voices, harmonies, and great songs. From memory they opened with Don's composition 'Cathy's Clown.'
They are definitely not has been! They made music Their entire lives. Music that people still appreciate today! They were innovators and tremendous models for bands to come. GOD BLESS DON AND PHIL! Thank You for loaning Us a pair of Angels to make Us stop and feel the music. I won’t be too far behind Them, and You can bet, if They have a concert, I’ll be there!
I needed to find a place to express my profound sadness at Don's passing. Perhaps my grief intertwines with having lost my younger brother in 2017 to a massive heart attack. I will never get over losing him, my best friend. I just listened to "On the Wings of a Nightingale" and I sit here bawling. I'll never understand why that song, so beautifully written by Paul McCartney, never became a hit here in the US. I extend my condolences to Don's family. The brothers' music lives on to be cherished by new fans in coming generations.
Hi Barry, I don't know you but I can relate to your pain. The loss of a loved one is so extremely difficult. I pray your beloved brother is resting peacefully and you will unit again with him. "To be a sent in the present is to be present with the Lord" I pray you find strength and peace to get through the difficult time in your life. Stay safe, healthy and God bless.
I lost a sister who was a very good piano player. I recall how we listened to every song the Everly Brothers released. Being from Dolly's home town of Sevierville, we listened to EVERY country song on the radio. Rest in peace Don and Phil. We all loved you

I've never seen a live performance of the Everly Brothers when you felt like this were just putting on another show. Somehow, they manage to still be in the moment singing 20-year-old songs they sung a thousand times. They were one of a kind.
Me too! The first time I heard them 🎶 sing( my mom played their music) I so loved their harmonies & became lifelong fans! They were extraordinary vocalists! May they both Rest In Peace!♥️
What absolute musicianship! When will there come another duo to even come close to the talent of these two brothers who like Elvis served their country then pursued their careers in music.
Sadly, Don passed away last week, truly the end of a pop music era. I consider myself extremely fortunate to have seen them live fiyr times in Glasgow, Scotland. The first time was on 13 October 1965 with Cilla Black and Billy J Kramer & the Dakotas. They opened with their backs to the audience behind the black curtains on the long guitar intro to Lucille and turned around as the curtains opened on the opening line. Very dramatic. The next time was 19 years later at the Reunion Concert in the Apollo Theatre (formerly Green's Playhouse) on 26 October 1984 (yes, I still have the programme and ticket). My then girlfriend's sister wrote for the New Musical Express and concluded her article by saying: "Down in the stalls, Alan remembered the first time he saw them 20 years ago. To me that was the Everly's at their very best. The next time was at the Scottish Exhibition and Concert Centre (SECC) on 12 May 1989, when the backing band as here and at the Reunion Concert included the legendary Albert Lee (of Emnylou Harris' Hot Band amongst many others) on lead guitar and musical director. The last time was at the Glasgow Royal Concert Hall on 12 June 1997. I remember being very disappointed that they had dropped the dinner suits (tuxedos) in favour of t-shirts and jeans. Don had a sore throat and they didn't sing "Cathy's Clown". This segment of the Melbourne concert brings back great memories, albeit the phrasing on a very fast version of "Cathy's Clown" is somewhat different to the original. RIP the fabulous Golden Everly Brothers.
AS ENJOYABLE AS THEIR LIVE SHOWS WERE, THEY MADE A MISTAKE BY CONCENTRATING ON REPEATING A HANDFUL OF BIG HITS, THAT WORE THIN WITH ME. KEY SONGS I NEVER HEARD THEM SING LIVE THAT WERE AS GREAT AS ANY OF THEIR SMASH HITS ARE: LONELY ISLAND, LOVE OF MY LIFE, (SO IT WAS, SO IT IS, SO IT ALWAYS WILL BE) ,TORTURE, DANCING IN THE STREET, THE FERRIS WHEEL, LOVE OF THE COMMON PEOPLE, IT'S MY TIME, JEZEBEL, TRUE LOVE, ALWAYS ITS YOU, LOVE HURTS, I'LL NEVER GET OVER YOU, YOU'RE THE ONE I LOVE, YOU'RE MY GIRL AND PROBLEMS. HOPEFULLY THE EVERLY BROTHERS ARE PRESENTLY 🙏✨️🌠"AT THE SOURCE OF ALL LIGHT"🎇✨️🌠
@miltonmoore8369 - Yes, it was a very regrettable mistake that they did not vary the material in live performances. For me, the "Stories We Could Tell" and "Songs Our Daddy Taught Us" albums were the hidden gems. Don always said that they performed what audiences wanted to hear, so maybe we were outvoted. 😪 (Also, they could have mixed in a few of their solo hits that were produced during the 10-year split. I didn't follow Don's solo work, but Phil had several beautiful classics.)
Fan flippin tastic love love love these guys. Their sound is superb!!! These guys are true Musicians not like todays clowns who cant sing to save themselves

Too young to remember them when they were at their peak!! Came across them accidentally when looking for something else! They are unbelievable!! I can’t stop listening to them!!
