It was not a bad match on Iga's side but Garcia had much more matches on clay in a row an after a fall in her condition she has her days now. If Iga had a few more matches she would win the final with Garcia. Let's not give up on those who lose trying hard as possible. They are both not one time winners like RADUCANU. Mostly true. TBH Iga did to Caroline in 2s what Caroline did to her in the 1st set. The third set was tight. Thanks to a bit of luck and a determination Garcia prevailed. Garcia probably played best tennis of her career while Iga wasn't in 100% form

    • @bratSebastian

      Garcia has played much better in the 3rd set that she has in the 1st. Almost every game of the 1st set had couple of dueces and switching advantages. The same happened in the 2nd. In the 3rd on the other hand Garcia faced break points only once in her service games, but Swiatek had to struggle every single time. That was because that clay here in Warszawa doesn't make the ball kick that high, but is almost as fast as grass. That's why the match was so short because very short rallies and an a person with flatter hits had an advantage. You wouldn't experience this on RG courts.

    She also provided an object lesson in how to play Swiatek.
    Garcia not only stepped in on Swiatek's second serves but she also did so on a number of Swiatek's first serves.

    Caroline is inconsistent. She is self-motivated playing young grand slam champions maybe because she used to be somewhat of a teen phenom herself and wants to prove herself. She beat Andreescu in a grass final in Germany, ousted Raducanu in Wimbledon, and now ends the clay streak of Swiatek. Unfortunately she has let-downs against more low-profile opponents.

    Garcia is the synthesis of everything Iga cannot handle on hcs and clay: deep return and 180/190km 1st service that's literally Iga only big problem (outside grass) and she needs to fix it obviously I wondering if she plays Ostapenko in USOpen 4th round? probably she's out isn't tough to predict watch Iga vs. Ostapenko in Dubai, vs. Kaia Kanepi (I don't remember where), vs. Samsonova in Stuttgart and vs. Qinwen Wang in RG.

      If not her then who can handle deep return and 190 km/h 1st serve? Iga reached more of Garcia's serves than anyone else lately, that's why in statistics it is Iga who has more aces. A very even match. It is not the first and not the last match that Iga will lose, she is not a machine and her title does not oblige her to anything. Garcia is strong, aggressive and very determined, with a speed above average female speed, anyone could struggle plus Swiatek slipping on the surface ... G. played like it was a match of her lifetime, for Iga another practice and lesson learnt to draw conclusions and prepare better for the next one to come. I think Iga's biggest mistake was skipping all the pre-Wimbledon grass court tournaments after her perfect clay court season, then showed up at SW19 looking like she didn't even belong in the Top 10. Naturally, she lost intensity and confidence even on her favorite turf, as shown here. If this continues, I doubt she can win the US Open this year. The WTA tour remained very open as no one player is able to dominate on all surfaces.

    Garcia played a good match. She attacked Iga’s second serve, any short ball she received she came to met immediately after. To beat Iga you need to be super aggressive or you need to play with a lot of slice.

    • @vojtasjedyny
      @vojtasjedyny Год назад

      Being super aggressive is not enough. You also need to find the court or you will end up like Ostapenko most of the time - she just goes for the lines from the very start - when she's on, *no one* stands a chance, but it's usually brainless tennis. And slice? Lee tried it, didn't work.
