I'm so glad for Garcia. She is one player who can expose the cracks in the top hats. Congrats on a great match Caro and all the best in the semis!
Alizé cornet beat swaitek this 2 at Wimbledon 2022
Yes she was great, probably the best match of her career: but Iga was far beind her level... honestly, she should have skipped this tournament and recover properly.
@@dollyseguin1386 I remember it very well. It's just that Garcia is younger than Alize and plays against the top crop more regularly than Alize does.
Carolina plays hard and does not get riled easily. Her opponent has to beat her. She will not make many mistakes.
@@lucasalvarani317 Recover from what? An injury to her ego?
I’m big supporter of Iga Świątek, but today my respect goes too Caroline, big great game from both. I thing Garcia will win the tournament. Congrats 👏.
For Iga it's kind of worrying for the US Open.
I'm glad you thing that 😂
@@matprotium1205 no worrying, it was an episode on clay, she is only human, only 21. She was not sure herself because of the change of sufaces in o few days. The no.1 are human, this is sport an Serena was losing, Ashley Barty was loding, Navratilova was losing etc.etc. Now Iga will hsve somtime to adjust to hardcourt and we will see. It was not a bad match on Iga's side but Garcia had much more matches on clay in a row an after a fall in her condition she has her days now. If Iga had a few more matches she would win the final with Garcia. Let's not give up on those who lose trying hard as possible. They are both not one time winners like RADUCANU. Garcia is 28 and had hervuos and downs being no.4 at the time and droped down below 50. Let us be more objective and supportive.
Garcia played insane ! her return was so good today ! Hope she wins the tournement
Yes, and I agree with you also about winning the tournament. I hope so.
She looks in great form, very determined. So happy for her.
Hats off to Garcia! What a great performance, especially on her returns of serve. She did to Swiatek what Swiatek normally does to her opponents on clay: Caroline basically outhit and overpowered her, took that ball early and gave Iga no room to breathe.
Yes, what about you fool about the second set? ... The tennis connoisseur is here ...
@@berniibernii2683 tennis is about winning 2 sets. Both sets Swiatek was overpowered big time.
@@berniibernii2683 If you can’t engage in an exchange on tennis without being abusive, you must have a very sad life.
Mostly true. TBH Iga did to Caroline in 2s what Caroline did to her in the 1st set. The third set was tight. Thanks to a bit of luck and a determination Garcia prevailed. Garcia probably played best tennis of her career while Iga wasn't in 100% form
Garcia has played much better in the 3rd set that she has in the 1st. Almost every game of the 1st set had couple of dueces and switching advantages. The same happened in the 2nd. In the 3rd on the other hand Garcia faced break points only once in her service games, but Swiatek had to struggle every single time. That was because that clay here in Warszawa doesn't make the ball kick that high, but is almost as fast as grass. That's why the match was so short because very short rallies and an a person with flatter hits had an advantage. You wouldn't experience this on RG courts.
I'm glad to see Garcia playing well again. She has such a complete game.
That was the best match Caroline has played in many years. She beat an in form world #1 on her best surface in her home tournament. The best thing Caroline did was to get rid of her father as coach. I always wondered why she hasn’t won a slam yet - maybe this huge win will give here the confidence.
Why not give Caroline a little credit. Caroline is having a great year. Iga looked in super form her first matches - and clay is her best surface.
I remember watching her play for the first time while she was ranked 38? And i couldnt believe she wasnt a top 5 player.
Garcia played so well that Iga could not get into her own rithym. Great match.
She rarely gets passed the 3rd Round of a Slam.
She is quater finalist man In recent slam
@Aldo Raine yes
@@jc-sy5ic nope, she lost in the 4th round to Bouzkova
Iga is the best fixer women player in the world.she properly fixing in this match couple of match i saw her she made the match comfortably fixing....bad girl...
Wow Garcia🚀🚀 is on fire, and what a beautiful smile she has💛 congrats, very smart player, power shots, aggressive play, lovely to watch💫
garcia's timing on the heavy topspin was a huge tell.. catching the ball on the rise and going flat is a lost art.... this is the template for beating iga on clay.
Yup, Kanepi had her at the Australian but made too many errors but is a big, Lindsey Davenport type hitter. The kind of hitting you have to do to beat Swiatek on any surface, but especially clay or hard courts. You have to nullify her spin and not many people can do that consistently. Miss Barty, who was so good, with her old style game, and that great slice.
The perfect example of how fine the margins are at the elite level. A very good player at 100% will invariably beat a great player at 80%. It’s a VERY tough sport.
WEAK ERA they say
Unbelievable hitting from Garcia! A very well deserved win over the world #1 👏

Finally, a worthy opponent!
I enjoy watching both of these players play. I salute both.
Swiatek she is playing like she used to. Total loss of confidence.
And Garcia played a great match and aggressive throughout.
Very well deserved Garcia. Congratulations!
Nah sometimes ppl just play better than you it’s ok
it was a pity that the two players have to meet in the quarter-finals, while the bottom draw has no seed, both are my favourites.
I rooted iga , but Garcia was really well
Congrats Garcia and come back soon for iga
Many people already hate Iga for the loss today, but i completely disagree with it. I think Iga played well, just Caroline was better. Don't matter of the baguettes in the first 2 sets, the whole match was so equal. There were many exciting moments in the whole match. When Iga wins everybody loves her, but when she looses - everybody says how weak #1 she is... It's just pathetic... Don't matter of the result today, Iga already showed she is great #1. Congrats to Garcia for the well deserved victory!
I agree! As I said earlier somewhere else, Iga gas tons of haters. So I just ignore them. I hope she can deal better with these super aggressive players in the future. I think Barty could do it really well in the past.
People hate when you are successful.. nothing new
@@speakwithonevoice636 see the comments here
Today serve made the difference. Garcia destroyed Iga's serve on regular basis. Also that sitter in the last game that missed the court... It was close 3rd set. But that's tennis.
@Aldo Raine i respect everyone's opinion but that doesn't mean i agree with everyone. I just said i disagree with them.
I’ve never seen Iga give a “cold” congrats to any opponent before. She was very upset about this loss on her home court.
she's a stupid bitch that's why
and the whole tournament is a fucking joke
I noticed that. She's human, it has to be disappointed for her in her country. She's still great tho!!!
Yes she has given that kind of handshake before when she lost!
@@nellyseda5195 Agreed she’s still great. I think Caroline maybe figured out the key to beating her - play Iga’s game (although difficult to do).
@@tennissir1986 peak ball bashing is the only way to beat Iga along with what Barty had but she’s no more hence the players she’s lost to this year
What a powerful performance! (and she did not even break a sweat.) Ole!
HAHAHA, I noticed that too, Gracias
Beautiful fast balls from Garcia 💪💪💪
Beauty of sport: everyone can have great, winning day and everyone, even the best can loose
I tend to disagree ( a little). The beauty is there is no "BEST" . Some are just better than others, some times. Like women, there are no ugly ones, some are just prettier than others (smile).
Garcia exposes the area that Swiatek needs to improve on - 1st and 2nd serves. Good boost for Garcia's comeback from the wilderness.
It was a matter of time for Swiatek to lose the record in clay also, Garcia pushed her back and played excellent.
Being world no.1 doesn't mean you have to win every matches you play. Win and lose just the two simple ends of a match, it doesn't define your hardwork and who you are. Jadas Iga! Focus on the next steps and get that US open girl!
Unlikely to win the us open, this match shows a lack of confidence
@@deusexmachina9776 There was a definite lack of energy and determination to win in this match on Swiatek's part. She seemed very disinterested. It's time to recharge the batteries.
@@deusexmachina9776 her record this year is 46-5, she's won 2 of the 3 biggest hard court tournaments played so far... yet is unlikely to win? Well played.
@@grenvthompson she had momentum now she doesn't. Huge difference
Yep, if winning 6 titles including a GS is not enough to please tennis fans then i don’t know what would. Swiatek is not a robot and I’m afraid she would burn out because of playing that much. She never got proper recovery between tournaments, her team should advise her better.
It’s funny to see people always acting so dramatic because Iga lost a match or even when she doesn’t bagel or breadstick her opponent. Some unrealistic expectations from tennis fans will only affect her. Calm down.
Caroline Garcia is ranked 45. She has a long way to go to be #1 with so many very good young players now. She can still win GS if she keeps playing the way she did in this tournament.
now number 4 with the masters in her pocket
When Garcia is on, SHE IS ON! The problem for her is keeping it consistent. Big win. Congrats to her.
Jak się nie ma serwisu! To nie ma szans, żeby cokolwiek wygrać ! Mecz do jednej siatki.Przykro patrzeć.Pozdrawiam Wojtek
My fellow French players have been giving some hard time to Iga this year: what a display of tennis by Garcia! Maintaining this level of aggression and accuracy throughout the match: I hope she is finally able to keep up this level throughout a tournament (and the year)
I agree and I am not French.
The 2nd French woman to beat Swiatek, but Garcia's victory is even more significant because she did it on clay. Awesome win!
Well..Iga is also a junior wimbledon champion.. So Cornet's win is also big thing.
She did it on clay in a tournament which is completely irrelevant - nobody would notice if it disappeared.

Hate it for Iga, but just shows you why Women's Tennis is just so good now. All the top players are just so good. Garcia was on fire today.
Really benefited Garcia that she really hasn't taken time off. She's been doing well while everyone has been on vacation
Consistent, well-spaced, smart, and hard work always pays off eventually.
Great game by Caroline Garcia, solid on serve, getting a lot of "free" points from returns on Iga's first and second serves and placing good balls with depth, power and good placement. Caroline has the level of play to be at least in the Top 20 of the ranking, unfortunately she is inconsistent, she may be able to beat the best in the world on her best surface and then lose to a lower level player as happened with Bronzetti in Palermo, Bouzkova at Wimbledon.
She is one of more powerfull player, but its complicate for her, to domine the relationship between winners and unforced error, but when she is focus, i agree in this point, ' she is top 5'.
@Dan B I dont know, but probably we´ll can see her winning a WTA tournament, tomorrow. If you cant wait more as me, dont worry, its just here. ;)
Garcia slammed the door on Iga all IGA could do was watch that same door hit her ass on the way out! BRAVO GARCIA 👏 👏 👏 👏 👏 👏
Excellent match and very close. Really final set is just one mistake that made the difference. Could have gone either way. Both players were brilliant.
With all the stress of the Krakow exhibition and the pressure of playing in front of her hometown turf audience, 1GA lost mental focus. When she does not initially serve in the first set, she has the tendency to be complacent. Her over confidence and under estimating Caroline added to this big upset. Salute to Caroline for sheer determination and great returns in beating the number one in the world in her (of all places), Warsaw Poland. 1GA can learn from this loss and very confident she will bounce back and be stronger in the American leg of the season. Great match! Hope this win for Caroline gets her the trophy in the finals.
That's okay Iga. you did great! You're only human. =)
Garcia is actually a really good player and in my opinion she deserves a spot in the top 10
She is former #4
Then she needs to win consistently enough to get there. Those players who can put win consistently "deserve" to be in the top 10
Hahaha omg can’t reading this kind of comment. Of course she played really well today but if she wants to be in top 10 she needs to show her conistency lol .. after one tournament everyone writing that she deserves 😂
Not over Raducanu beautiful top 10 player
@@marmis7014 Maybe not #1, yet, but Top 10 for sure. A lot of very good players are hungry to in Top 10.
Garcia was great today. If she can continue at this level and find some consistency, top 10 will be her home.
This kind of play is why so many of us were so excited to see what Caroline Garcia would achieve. I remember her doing this as a teenager against Sharapova at the French. Garcia did go on to lose that match, but it took the absolute best Sharapova had to do it.
Congrats Caroline Garcia she is playing much better this season 👍
Looked like Garcia had the plan to not get in any long rallies with Iga and it worked. Good way to show that you can change things up.
Garcia went for the winner off the first ball she got a lot of the time.
That powder puff serve of Iga is so beatable
Garcia was in the zone today. She hits the ball so hard.
Iga was a bit rusty here coming off a short break. But all credit to Caroline, who has a penchant for stepping in on returns of serves. She has been playing well since pre-Wimbledon.
GREAT HIGHLIGHTS, no bs, just tennis. thank you.
Very strong ground strokes did not give slow bounce enough to Iga. I think this strategy worked today, just that Iga didn't figured out Garcia today. Nice game Congratulations Garcia.
Garcia punished the Swiatek serve deservedly so, and she stayed with Iga during the intense rallies. A message for the other women to step up their games.
FANTASTIC WIN CAROLINE🇫🇷🇫🇷
Couldnt believe my eyes when i saw Garcia beat Iga-incredible!
caroline will be top 10 by the end of the year! the hard court will suit her game perfectly
WTA is unpredictable but we'll see
Good prediction, you were right!!
Just Rafa told you last year, Iga, you may win, you could lose, just accept the result, learn from it then keep going.
Garcia's returns were automatic & aggressive. She did not give Iga any time to think, plan, nor execute. It came directly towards Iga quite often. Kudos to Garcia!
Good to see Garcia back to her highest form like in 2017 or 2018. Allez.
Absolutely beautiful!! Garcia played so awesome!! She was very, very aggressive. Now Iga must be thinking that the French women have ganged up against her, seeing that her Wimbledon run came to a screeching halt due to Alize Cornet.
Very well deserved for Caro! Happy for her. Iga still #1, great game both!!
Congratulations to Caro, well deserved win indeed. She’s one of my favourite players on tour.
Mine also, Thanks
That's my girl! Bravo Caroline ❤️🌸
Iga is great. But definitely Caroline is the most aggresive in this match. Iga's weakness exposed on this game, her serve i think. Congrats Caroline! Well deserved win!
Carolina is a really great player with some bad breaks in big matches through her career. I like his aggressive unapologetic game. It exposed the biggest (probably the only) weakness on Iga's game, her serve.
Wow. What a stellar performance from Garcia 🔥🔥🔥 Brilliant
YES the win over Iga made my day
Caro's serve and ground shots have all improved ... but her net closing is brilliant ... beating world no1 on clay fav surface 👏👏
Garcia has been really strong lately, but Swiatek has looked downright pedestrian from the beginning of Wimbledon to this match. She needs to get her championship mindset back for the US Open.
Nah. I don't think it's a mental thing. Iga looks tired. She needs some rest, I guess.
This just goes on to show the mettle of players like Steffi Graf, Federer, Nadal, and Djokovic. To be at the top consistently for over a decade is no mean feat.
Yea I think that when Iga won FO, it was like the most important job is done and now Iga just doesnt look like she wants to get 110% every match, but other players are doing exactly the opposite playing Iga
@@marcinzagol6818 I agree.
@@melfox215 Give credit where credit is due............ Don't make excuses for her.
On her day Garcia is capable of beating anyone.
She also provided an object lesson in how to play Swiatek.
Garcia not only stepped in on Swiatek's second serves but she also did so on a number of Swiatek's first serves.
Even when serving well Swiatek's serve is far from fearsome.
Iga could have beaten any player on this day. When she stepped into the court today, she was pretty sure that she'd win this match. She played like the #1 player in the world. No injuries. Home crowd. Favorite today. All the stars were aligned. But wait, Caroline played better than the best.
Call it "will power" or "determination" ,,,,,,,, whatever but have confidence in yourself.
This two players are top matches too good
what a confidence and powerful shots Garcia played against player no1 actually she deserve to win the tournament.
Someone always has to win good Mach counts sometimes you loose by point sometimes u win by point. She was determined to win and smoked Iga by playing v. well. To bad it happened in Poland. Shake it off Iga you have nothing to worry about loosing it is a good experience. You've learned something. Success in the future.
Lol,a 3 setter win is smoking someone?🤣🤣🤣
#1 Iga has earned 8336 points.

Catch Iga if you can.
You need to win 4 WTA 1000 or 8 WTA 500 tournaments.
awesome. garcia plays fearless. I love it
Excellent match!! Both the players were at their best in the first and second set. But the final set was dominated by Garcia. Wonderful tennis. Great victory. Congrats 👌👌👌👍🏻👍🏻💥💯
If only Caro could do this at The French Open. Home crowd pressure gets to her every time. Same today for Iga I guess.
Being #1, DOESN'T guarantee absolutely nothing! NOBODY on the pro tour is "un" beatable, apparently France is Swiateks Kryptonite, straight losses to French chics 🙄
Es-tu français, René ?
No, 🇲🇽
Iga to much concentrated on Ukraine instead of her own game. Garcia was miles away better player, my congratulations to Caroline Garcia. Greetings to everyone from Australia
You are absolutely right about effect on Iga by involving herself in the the whole Ukraine situation. She should not be playing this politics card as she does, but this is my opinion. I am glad not being alone in this observation.
Too right I'm afraid.
as an iga fan: caro was amazing and deserved victory
Caroline is inconsistent. She is self-motivated playing young grand slam champions maybe because she used to be somewhat of a teen phenom herself and wants to prove herself. She beat Andreescu in a grass final in Germany, ousted Raducanu in Wimbledon, and now ends the clay streak of Swiatek. Unfortunately she has let-downs against more low-profile opponents.
Could work both ways, all 3 of them will be looking to beat her now, especially Iga and Emma both getting knocked out by her at their home tournaments, that's gotta sting just a bit more, that alone will self-motivate THEM for payback lol
That match was amazing from Garcia! She played superb tennis, never let up in her attack.
Totally crushed that second serve to say the least. Kudos Caroline
La "descosio". Casi se paraba en la línea del centro de cancha
In fact Iga won more points on 2nd than Garcia did. The probwm was more 1st serve of Iga
It looked like a great match. Caroline was just a better player today and has a complete game. Nothing to really worry about for Swiatek. However Caroline clearly showed the weaknesses of Swiatek such as the second serve. This could really be improved by Swiatek.
Caro à fait un match extra ! Quelle puissance, bravo !
Iga needs to do something...Who knows what?Caroline was brilliant today.
Putting to the end that mantra that Swiatek is unbeatable on clay.
Predicted this yesterday. It's delightful to watch upsets.
18-1 on clay this year... But yeah that's definitely so bad statistics...
I mean, Sakkari beat her last year
I wish those highlights included Iga's second serve aces exposing Caro's ridiculous return position, they actually made me laugh cause she was reaching so high and still couldn't get to the ball.
The cleanest match I've seen her play in a while, congrats! She's been on a roll since the start of the grass season, cherry on the cake for her team.
Garcia return game was on point. Great match. I think serving is Swiatek's weakness. Hopefully she can improve her serving by giving it more power and better placement.
Damn, the silence after the match point... I could hear a fly fart.
Under-rated comment. I can hear a pin drop here in the comments section as well, today.😉
I could almost smell that fart so I held my breath.
Right now, no one player will dominate women's tennis. I see 4 or 5 players winning majors in the next couple of years.
Ons will be one of them. Some eastern European players even maybe a Russian.
I've been saying before that someone will figure out how to beat iga...BAMMM..on clay👀..go all the way caroline...good luck💕💥
Garcia is the synthesis of everything Iga cannot handle on hcs and clay: deep return and 180/190km 1st service that's literally Iga only big problem (outside grass) and she needs to fix it obviously I wondering if she plays Ostapenko in USOpen 4th round? probably she's out isn't tough to predict watch Iga vs. Ostapenko in Dubai, vs. Kaia Kanepi (I don't remember where), vs. Samsonova in Stuttgart and vs. Qinwen Wang in RG.
In Miami Kanepi and Swiatek played. And unfortunately for Iga, more and more players are starting to play like that, especially against her.
If not her then who can handle deep return and 190 km/h 1st serve? Iga reached more of Garcia's serves than anyone else lately, that's why in statistics it is Iga who has more aces. But serve isn't only about speed - even more important is precision, placement and variety. That what made the difference today.
@@user-dc4sm3lg1z Now all field will serve great and return deep, because it is so easy and obviously works against silly Swiatek, who couldn't handle stupid deep returns.
@@vojtasjedyny Not everyone can do that. Ostapenko and Rybakina can for example.
@@user-dc4sm3lg1z Only when they have good day. Ostapenko very rarely has. Rybakina never was outstanding returner.
Incroyable, Bravo à Caroline Garcia rien n'est impossible.
A very even match. It is not the first and not the last match that Iga will lose, she is not a machine and her title does not oblige her to anything. Garcia is strong, aggressive and very determined, with a speed above average female speed, anyone could struggle plus Swiatek slipping on the surface ... G. played like it was a match of her lifetime, for Iga another practice and lesson learnt to draw conclusions and prepare better for the next one to come. Looking forward for Toronto and US, go girl!
She did something similar to Raducanu at Wimbledon. She seems to enjoy beating slam winners!
Iga's fanboys claim is the slippery surface to blame. Guess what, is slippery for her opponent too!
Thats what I said. YES,,,,,,
I think Iga's biggest mistake was skipping all the pre-Wimbledon grass court tournaments after her perfect clay court season, then showed up at SW19 looking like she didn't even belong in the Top 10. Naturally, she lost intensity and confidence even on her favorite turf, as shown here. If this continues, I doubt she can win the US Open this year. The WTA tour remained very open as no one player is able to dominate on all surfaces.
She had an injury.
Garcia played a good match. She attacked Iga’s second serve, any short ball she received she came to met immediately after. To beat Iga you need to be super aggressive or you need to play with a lot of slice.
Being super aggressive is not enough. You also need to find the court or you will end up like Ostapenko most of the time - she just goes for the lines from the very start - when she's on, *no one* stands a chance, but it's usually brainless tennis. And slice? Lee tried it, didn't work.
Now there are two WTA1000 and US2000.
If Garcia keeps playing like that, she will achieve top10 again replacing mediocre Raducanu
Garcia served better and her returns was more agressive. This ment that Iga was forced back and wasn"t abel to put pressure enoug on Garcia. Great match .Could have gone both
ways. I wonder if Iga has played enough practic matches latly. It looked like she didn"t move so quickly as she normal do. Bedst from Denmark .
man, respects to Garcia.
Is iga injured? Looks like Iga met her match as a powerful hitter.
Garcia played very good today. Iga will bounce back.
Garcia stunned! Swiatek tumbled with no answers!
Iga's goal this month was to promote tennis in Poland and raising money for Ukraine. Both goals were achieved 100%. 👌
