Indisputably one of the matches of the year. What a magnificent battle. Almost a tragedy that someone had to lose. Barbora and Iga…thank you. One to remember.
@A R they are both definitely great players but if Iga did not have this terrible cold things would look different. They both served and returned excellent. Over 70 % does not happen in WTA in the 3.hour of the match. I have not seen any player play a match with a cold in the few years....congrats to both for a feast of tennis on the highest level of a GL not a WTA500.
@A R This is Iga’s first indoor final out of 2 tournaments she played. She is a rising young player. I don’t get why people expect her to win everything as she was a robot.
I don’t remember when was the last time when I watched such a incredible WTA final. Cheering for Iga indeed, but congrats to Barbora. 1GA kochamy cię! ❤🎉🇵🇱🇵🇱
The tournament in Ostrava was simply great in terms of atmosphere. Probably the best 500 rank I have seen. The final was one of the better finals this season. Much better than the Grand Slam finals. Congratulations Barbora you were great today and enjoy this win at home. Iga you are great, you know we all love you !!!
Much better than any of those tournaments in North America prior to the US Open where one particular player was glorified and the rest played second fiddle despite beating her.

Let's really appreciate Krejcikova for what she has done! She beat Iga in the final. After winning ten finals matches in a row and 21 sets in a row in finals matches. She is only the second player to beat Iga this year after a turnaround. She is only the second Czech to ever beat Iga. She's beaten some incredible players in two weeks! Even winning a grand slam is easier :D. Haddad Maia, Bencic, Kontaveit, Rybakina, Swiatek. Against Iga, she probably played the best match of her career. Better than the French Open. She deserves absolute honour!
@A R Well Krejcikova was playing her second final in these conditions, having played the first one last week. By the way, last year Krejcikova didn't play in Ostrava at all, while Iga did. I don't see much difference in experience.
@A R Lol, Iga was 5-1 up in the first set and broke back in the second set, Barbara would have lost in 2,she was under more pressure, between Iga fought well down match points before losing, why these excuses?
It was an amazing match and a great atmosphere! 🤩 I'm happy I could watch it live! Congratulations Barbora!👏 I'm so proud of Iga who plays so well despite being sick. But most of all I'm proud that she decided to donate the money she won for psychicall health charity in Poland 😍❤️
While I was rooting for Iga, I am almost relieved that she lost this final, because the expectations, the hype, and the pressure have become unbearable. "She's unbeatable, she never loses a final, she never loses at all" - that is crazy. Everybody loses now and then, and so does Iga. This does not make her any less of player. She is still brilliant, and only 21. The match was incredible, the players were not only gracious but cordial at the end. A pleasure to watch. Congrats to both on this fantastic battle.
It was the third really high standard match from Iga in a row. I am lucky to be able to see it. Saving those match points was amazing. On another note, did she say anything (in Polish) that I need to know?

The best WTA match in years so far, it was GS final worthy! I don't lie, i was rooting for Iga and i am sad for her. But i should say the whole final was a big victory for WTA and its fans. 3 hours epic, full with beautiful winners and intrigue till the end. I can feel how the WTA competition is becoming stronger which is the reason why Iga doesn't win matches easily anymore. Also the women tennis is becoming more complex, so close to the ATP one. And Barbora Krejcikova is one of the best examples for that. Yeah, she isn't from my favourite players, but her playing style is complex and solid. A GS champion with reason. Exactly that makes her that dangerous opponent and i think currently she is in comeback mode. It would be interesting to see Barbora in top 10 again. Big respect also to Iga, who was struggling with the cold during the whole tournament. I have the feeling she will be that person, who will change WTA to better like competition and playing style by players, same like Federer did with ATP in 2000s. Big respect to both girls for the pleasure which they gave us in these 3 hours!
Such a gracious reaction to defeat from Iga. Big congrats to Barbora, two singles titles in a row, beating home favorite Kontaveit in Tallinn in her last final, and beating Iga in a final is no easy feat for anyone, she had won her last TEN finals!
Amazing match. Kudos to both girl. Barbora coming from injury. I remember how hard it was for her, crying after RG loss and look now, winning two titles in a row 😍. Such a great player. Also to Iga, real fighter. Playing while being sick, when she could take easy way out and withdraw. I honestly feel like if not for all Polish fans who came to Ostrava, she wouldn't keep going. Can't wait for Barbie to be back in top 10 and many more matches with Iga. Both great players on and off court.
I said it before on different platforms... This is one of the best WTA finals this year! Two GS champions delivered their best game! Emotions are in place from both genuine WTA champions! I honestly think that we could get more of these matches (quality wise), if more fans were coming to watch. Yes, Barbora and Iga are both incredible players, but the crowd made them work extra hard. It's such a shame to see some wta finals stadiums half empty, even if it's high quality match up. Like, I don't think that Barbora would have made such a comeback in first, if it wasn't for the crowd and their support. Amazing atmosphere, amazing match. Really, one of the matches of the year. Great win by Bára and great effort by Iga ❤️
We could get more matches like this if players were more consistent week in, week out, and learned to play better tactically, instead of just hitting the ball hard. The fan support would take of itself.
Both showcased the best tennis level like as if I'm watching a grand slam final. I don't mind whoever wins the match. Both players deserve to be on top. Unfortunately, there could be only one to win the trophy. Respect for this 2 players .
Iga was far from her usual level, Barbora was at her peak. She played with flu and in unfavourable conditions (fast surface indoor)... this alone tells how great she is.
I noticed Iga kept blowing her nose! I read a comment where Iga had the flu? If this is true why jeopardize your health & also submitting other players to possibly catching the flu because you Iga want to play in the finals! It’s not like the #1 position is in jeopardy it wasn’t so I think it’s silly for any player to play especially if you’re #1 player & your not going to lose the #1 rating! Sounds kind of silly on Iga’s part to play what’s Iga trying to prove she’s already #1 does Iga need the money or does Iga want to just win! There’s more to life than just winning a tennis match when you have the flu & jeopardizing your health or someone else’s health! Selfish move Iga!
@@alani3992 if you noticed that she was missing for some time in the year. First she had a wrist injury earlier in the year. Then she had COVID after. She is now coming back to full form.
The hardest match 1GA had to play this year. She almost did not win the first set. She was battling the cold at the same time. She did her best despite of it. This is why she cried after losing an important match for her Polish fans. She felt she failed them. On the other hand, give credit to Barbora who is a fighter battled through the most grueling match of the WTA this year! Salute to both players, both played their hearts out. Too bad one had to lose and my heart goes to my favorite and endearing 1GA who never lost a final since 2019. This match should be the WTA Match of the Year!
Yes!! 🎉 High quality final. Tactically astute, mentally tough, all-court variety, athleticism…so many good aspects to grace a very worthy final. Massive fan of Krejcikova, technically so pleasing on the eye, especially when you combine it with her skill set and doubles experience. But there’s an energy and ruthlessness generally to Swiatek’s game, this year in particular, that makes her compelling to watch. Certainly good for the WTA to have a consistent and tough performer as the world no:1 - as I think it’s needed to raise the level of the tour to yet greater peaks.
I love one thing in Iga. Even when she isn't playing her best game she is still fighting. Her opponents need to become so solid to manage her game and climb to the limits. That's what she has as a number one - she is doing everything to win doesn't matter how she is feeling. Any other player in the tour doesn't have that advantage. Today Barbora showed that she is great player and should come back to top 10 or even higher rank. Thanks to both for an amazing final.
I love both of them. What they seem to have in common is a real focus on tennis both on and off the court. That's what fans expect their athletes to be. Listening to what these two usually say in their native languages, they come across as really modest and normal too, as much as they can with such earnings. I really wish for Barbora to stay injury-free. She has a beautiful, clean, versatile game.
beautiful match, i was rooting for my fellow czechian but iga's game reminds me so much of justin henin, she really is shaping up to be one of the best
So proud of you Iga, even with flu, no rest after 2 tough matches, and in unfavorable conditions (fast surface indoor) against a great player like Barbora at her peak level, she managed to play so well and fought really until the end. You're a delight to watch, now please rest well and skip San Diego. Jazda!
She's flying to San Diego today. I've watched her post match press conference after final and she seems even more sick than on Friday and she said that for now she's playing SD but if anything changes she'll inform about it.

Very lovely from the French open champions. Both played well to get to the final and both put up a great fight. Im sure it’s such a lovely feeling winning in front of your home crowd, Well done Barbora
i was dreading this final bc i knew someone would have to lose. both of these players are so fun to watch, the way they fight for every point is insane.
What a final, great atmosphere. Barbora is finally back in her "FO title" form and I hope that injuries will avoid her in the future. Iga also amazing, like the whole season, incredible performance from her, undisputable world nr. 1. If she will face some serious opponents in the future I truly hope that it will be also some of our young talented Czech girls. Today it was very tough match, Barbora did many UE in the 1st set, but she was able to return, really amazing. It´s not an easy task to dominate doubles rankings (with Siniakova) and play great in singles as well.
For sure ...Świątek is after a big winning so she has to mentally come back to normal work,it wasnt the most important tournament for her so she wasnt in optimal form but she was in the final too.Barty and Barty there is no Barty anymore, appreciate at last what Świątek means currently in women tennis because her successes are amazing. This permanent hate is already boring
@@MrRamzes2345 I disagree. Barty knows how to handle Swiatek all of their matches Barty won in straight sets. But it can be competitive match. It will be a forever If
Iga’s first final loss after RG 2020 i think and it had to come against someone who’s mentally as solid as her. And for Krejcikova, what a last two weeks and what a way to announce the comeback by beating active GS winners of this year in the semis and in the final. And what a crowd and atmosphere! Cheering but not disturbing any player. These two made my weekend❤

It's stunned that Iga lost the in the final, and I'm sad but satisfied. Both players spared no effort and give this match a remarkable ending. Totally the best final match of the year.
This is the real top 2 fight OMG. Swiatek is still no doubt the best on tour right now losing or winning today. This match and slam is a new milestone for her: winning with poor health, losing the first final in 2 years but still peaking when she needs to save match or even championship points. That's what I want from the leader of this sport. Barbie K with that talent and slams deserves to be in the top 2. Working so hard to be that fit and executing a great fight under that pressure. We deserve this kind of player in top Barbie K please. And, for the next time these two meet, what I hope for is a 3-set match with both being 100% healthy. It would be a dream
No player is 100% healthy. There's always something one have to deal with, Iga showed she was ready for the battle and displayed her best play. Her best was just not enough against Barbora today, period.
@@edisondeoliveira4665 yes, absolutely true, I was just trying to compare her to myself because if it was me I'd be gone 2 matches before, the fact she kept playing, won 2 matches and wasn't that far from winning the whole tournament is just stunning for me

Iga was not in her "final mode" as usual, being in the lavel that playing with lower energy. She doesn't have her couch with her, and she have a cold, but that doesn't matter because it's still the glorious match of the year.

Barbora is back to her best the message is sent I outplayed the world no1 in a final . Any questions?

@@STRAWYB 👍💯
The hardest match 1GA had to play this year. She almost did not win the first set. She was battling the cold at the same time. She did her best despite of it. This is why she cried after losing an important match for her Polish fans. She felt she failed them. On the other hand, give credit to Barbora who is a fighter battled through the most grueling match of the WTA this year! Salute to both players, both played their hearts out. Too bad one had to lose and my heart goes to my favorite and endearing 1GA who never lost a final since 2019. This match should be the WTA Match of the Year!
she is arrogant , thats why he cried..she just wanted to win, in front of poles, or not...
The level, the atmosphere, the players! Amazing.
!!!
Best match of the year, so glad that Barbora has found her form, she was awesome, amazing depth on those shots, and real variety again.
What a great final! Both players were unbelievable!
Oh….and love the deliberate exclamation mark extravaganza 😂
I love one thing in Iga. Even when she isn't playing her best game she is still fighting. Her opponents need to become so solid to manage her game and climb to the limits. That's what she has as a number one - she is doing everything to win doesn't matter how she is feeling. Any other player in the tour doesn't have that advantage. Today Barbora showed that she is great player and should come back to top 10 or even higher rank. Thanks to both for an amazing final.
She was played her best.
@@canarslan she is gassed out at this part of the season, she addressed that already. No way she is in top form be for real. It’s october
They both hit balls in high level.
Although Iga lost , I’m still proud of her.❤
Love their hug at the end of the match.
It’s so touching!!! 😭
beautiful match, i was rooting for my fellow czechian but iga's game reminds me so much of justin henin, she really is shaping up to be one of the best
Pięknie jest oglądać taką walkę, genialne dziewczyny!
Krejcikova actually has the game to challenge Swiatek in the WTA I just wish this can be the next great rivalry
So proud of you Iga, even with flu, no rest after 2 tough matches, and in unfavorable conditions (fast surface indoor) against a great player like Barbora at her peak level, she managed to play so well and fought really until the end. You're a delight to watch, now please rest well and skip San Diego. Jazda!
Yep. I think she should skip the San Diego event and just recover from illness, rest and prepare for the WTA Finals.
She's flying to San Diego today. I've watched her post match press conference after final and she seems even more sick than on Friday and she said that for now she's playing SD but if anything changes she'll inform about it.

A battle royal to be sure, with the highest calibre of play. Cheers.
Last gem was a rollercoaster of emotions! 3 hours match and 6 match points in the last gem! 🤯 Congrats to both players! It was a high quality performance from both sides 👍
very high level from both. congratulations Barbora for getting 2nd title in a row! also Iga you fought till the end, proud of them.
I was starting to lose hope in a really fun match to watch. This was grand slam final worthy for sure! Thank you for making me interested in tennis again this morning ladies!!!🎉❤ I really enjoyed Serena VS Kontaveit, but this one really had me biting my nails off!!! 😂😭🤗
Wow. Incredible battle. Kudos to Barbora who played one of the best matches of her career. I am impressed by Iga who despite loosing the final put on a real fight while being sick
Probably it was the best WTA match of this year (2022).
Such a great match from both, congrats Barbora! :) Love from Poland! And of course thank you Iga for great battle! :)
Woah!! What a match. That final game was so high level.
Very lovely from the French open champions. Both played well to get to the final and both put up a great fight. Im sure it’s such a lovely feeling winning in front of your home crowd, Well done Barbora
What a match from Krejcikova! What a star!
Who say WTA is Boring ?? Such High high-Quality Match , Brillant performance from Both 😍
Love WTA, as much as ATP if not more !
i was dreading this final bc i knew someone would have to lose. both of these players are so fun to watch, the way they fight for every point is insane.
I'm big Iga fan and of course I'm sad that she didn't win but Barbora was amazing congrats 👏👏👏 great match!
Honestly i have not seen such high level in WTA games for a long time, some rallies were just insane, bravo girls👍🥎
When Barbora is on fire, no one can stop her. Amazing performance.
Barty was the only one who could but she's gone now.
@@edisondeoliveira4665 Iga, in its optimal form from six months ago, would not have allowed Barty to win six games
It will be a forever If
@@MrRamzes2345 barty would’ve smash that fluke
World Class Tenis!!!
She did lose once before, it was the first final she made
@@beyou8038 Thanks for correcting. I didn’t keep track of much of her before RG 2020 win.
It’s not about mentally. Iga was barely on top form this tournament.
@@androamen3856 lol, here comes the excuses. She wasn’t at the top of her game at the USO and still won and in the finals Jabeur was nervous. Any other player with weak mindset would’ve tanked this match too.Barbora has shown time and again that she has got great temperament along with variety and reads the game well.

Such clean ground strokes from babora ! what a final !
Her trademark if not a "czech" trademark haha
Wow such a thriller both players are magnificient displayed skilful strokes and deadly accuracy..truly enjoyed the 3 over hours gruelling final. Both are fighters..
I’m a Pole. Rooted for 1GA🇵🇱
But throughout the match I felt Barbora had easier own games… A drop of water 💧 better than 1GA🇵🇱
Great performance of both.
New experience for 1GA (loss in the big final). It can make her even stronger
Was she sick?
@@ctr7161 she was and she also confirmed that
@@ctr7161 she's been cold for a few days
No player is 100% healthy. There's always something one have to deal with, Iga showed she was ready for the battle and displayed her best play. Her best was just not enough against Barbora today, period.
@@edisondeoliveira4665 yes, absolutely true, I was just trying to compare her to myself because if it was me I'd be gone 2 matches before, the fact she kept playing, won 2 matches and wasn't that far from winning the whole tournament is just stunning for me
This was a wonderful battle.
I had lost faith in the quality of matches in the WTA. but this proved me wrong. Hands down the match of the year. amazing quality from start to finish. Finally someone who is not scared of Iga and plays at their very best. Congrats to Babora. The quality in the tournament was great as well
Iga was playing poorly.
@@ctr7161 no she did not. She played her best level, Babora was better
@@deusexmachina9776 No, Iga hit way too many UE. Plus she was 5-1 up in 1st set.
Iga was not in her "final mode" as usual, being in the lavel that playing with lower energy. She doesn't have her couch with her, and she have a cold, but that doesn't matter because it's still the glorious match of the year.

I love both of them. Super game. 👌 Congratulations to both. ❤️
Great final. I am a bit disapointed with result, but won't argue with it for Barbora - no doubt - earned it with her great work today. Congrats!! 1ga was defending the points like a lion-mother defends her pups, turned out it wasn't enough for today but still, she showed the class and mentality of world no. 1
Losing had to come sometime. It is good that such an infection did not happen, for example, in the final in New York. But it is known that the tournament in Ostrava was very important for Iga. And Barbora, a legend returning to form. A beautiful match on the part of both girls and probably everyone is satisfied. I hope Iga will be back in full shape for the ATP Finals
Iga jestes kochana.

Terrific match by these two RG champions. Great for women's tennis.
Ostrava is in Cech Republic close to Polish borders. That's why crowd was full of supporters of both players. You could really hear that it's not random people there but very committed fans. Too bad that you did not include that in this highlights cause it was unusuall and awesome.
For game itself it was great, very high performance. Game was like 3 hours long. One of more interesting games I have ever seen on WTA500
Am so happy that Krejcikova won...IGA is such a great player she has won many finals this year already...I was looking for someone up to the task to face & win her. Congratulations Krejcikova...am ur new fan😎🎉🥂💟
It's interesting to watch Iga. Technically superb and beautiful shots. Glad she's only 21. Long way to go.

It was a very good game! Poor ladies work so hard, who ever wins is what it's all about! Great game ladies, God bless you all.
This felt like a Grand Slam final. What a great match. Both ladies played well. Barbora said oh no Iga, you ain't beating me a third time. She was truly a worthy opponent.
Though i was gutted that Iga lost, i will say that Krejickova played a fantastic match. Both should be very proud. Definitely my contender for WTA match of the year
It was epic match, great job by both of them, Barbora amazing!!!
I have never noticed how similar their game is (with Iga's level usually little bit higher). Amazing match.
I'm just so happy for krejkova

Even though she lost, I must say that Iga is the most consistent #1 since young Serena. And it's about time.

Interesting video edit that showed majority of points won by IGA, while Barbora won the match and played plenty of winners and forced errors from Iga...
