So basically they bit his style (like countless others) which is why Dillas Janet Remix is called “Jay Dee Revenge Remix”. They let him remix it to get his paper.
Questlove has said in a few interviews that he thinks the Sometimes Remix is considered the birth of the Neo Soul sound.

J Dilla the great, the goat on the the machine and A tribe called quest, representing jazz neo soul hip hop, my favorite music 🎶

This is 2013 RBMA IN NYC for reference. Tip loved Dilla’s work so much, some felt it caused friction within ATCQ. Electric Relaxation, Love Movement... Dilla’s hands were on the group’s work. If Dilla only knew what was ahead of him after that... Shout out Chairman Mao as always.

Electric Relaxation was done by Q-Tip and released on Midnight Marauders a full year before he met J Dilla...

@@KardiFan2000 Tip stole credit for a lot of Dilla's beats. This is a known fact and public knowledge already. Hold this L.

@@fbfb64 It's not a "known fact"...First of all, why would Dilla call out Jimmy Jam & Terry Lewis and Soulshock & Karlin for stealing his beats, but then NOT call out Tip? If it didn't come out of Dilla's mouth, it wasn't true. By the way, Electric Relaxation was made in 1993, Tip met Dilla in 1994. So take your own advice and hold this "L"...lol

And beasties, Porno for pyros, L7, nick cave, breeders, and the boredoms. Boredoms were switched out with green day halfway through the tour. That's main stage, second tent had flaming lips, pharcyde, cypress hill, stereolab, lambchop, black crowes, shudder to think, luscious Jackson. I'm sure I'm forgetting some.
