Two "tips"- Regarding welding, "do your best and grind the rest"...
Regarding fabricating- Start on the most remote area of the project. By the time you get to the "high visibility" area, you'll have your technique down pat!!

A little hint, if you want to get another fifty years or more from the buried posts. Fill them with a light mix of concrete. Make a funnel that will fit on the post with a rod welded with a washer in the center of the funnel. This will hold a rebar in the center. When the pipes rust away, you'll still have a fence. Just a thought from Western Canada. Like your videos.
Agree, steel posts will condensate on the inside and rust out. Concrete substantially slows the process. Also, all posts, wood. steel or concrete fail at ground level, as the base is always moist, grasses blocking Sun & Wind from drying them out. Last always crown soil/concrete at base to shed water.

Certified welder for 45 years, I have never seen anyone, cut uphill, and weld downhill.
I was welding uphill. Apparently, I need to show more than 2 seconds of a welding position for you to see which direction I was welding.

Evan by the time you complete your fencing projects, you will have the skills to have a fencing side hustle.
We need more welders out in the workplace. Time to hang up the day job and become an independent contractor. You'd be surprised how much money you could make and not have to worry about a "boss" and budgets.
Time saving TIP......
For your angle brace miter cuts... Once you're happy with the free-hand cut and fitment... Take some cardboard and trace out, then cut you a new template. If all angle pipe are the same lengths, you may even be lucky enough to do the same procedure for both angle cuts. Should be a reverse pattern.

when you have a big gap or hole - knock the flux off of one rod and hold the end in the gap and spot tack where the rod is with no flux and repeat . Try it and you will get the hang of it .
Another good way is used a metal coat hanger instead of a welding rod.

Your 2-7/8” and 2-3/8” will nest well and make hellacious hinges for gates and such.
Your welds look nice (better than mine). I hate welding pipe with a stick welder.

I'm surprised you haven't made a pipe guide for the angled pipes, you bought one for the straight pipe, I know you can build one for the angled pipes. you have all the tools and material to do it and with the all the other posts you will be making I think it would save you time.

Hello and greedings from Greece... I like and work in electronics from when i was 15 years old (now 55), and some years ago start to weld with elektrode (MMA), and every time i dont like the way i weld... (my ancle was a professional welder, and i know what good weld is, but very bad teacher). And then i bought a TIG/MMA welder. Now after 1,5-2 years the welding job for me is an enjoyment... I can weld everything and i am saying "i finaly find the welding iron for iron" (after 40+ years with welding iron in hand i am very good to weld electronic components - and not only -) Anyway the TIG welding for me is the best (not the fastest or cheap or easier because you have to cary also a heavy botle within), but if you start with TIG you will see the diference and enjoyment to make very good job, and sometimes beauty also... When you be familiar with TIG then you can make welding miracles concerning welding jobs with your hands... Sorry for my English...

Evan, I feel we're often a bit harsh when we try to offer constructive criticism - so I'm taking time to offer my congratulations. You've come a long way in your fence building career. From tamping wooden corner posts with a 2x4 to setting steel corner posts in concrete, with braces. By the time you get the outfit finished you'll be on the level of a pro.
After y'all retire from those jobs you have y'all can have a second career building fence together. I know a couple of man/wife teams who make a fortune doing it for hire. Fastest teams I've ever seen. I've watched them when I was planting a circle of wheat over two days last fall. Not one wasted movement by either of them all day long. It was like a ballet.
He drilled holes with a skid steer, while she laid out pipe, etc. They built a mile in two days and quit early both days. A mile of hi tensile 5-wire with 2 electeified goes for about 12K here. Subtract materials and that's some high-dollar labor.
check out how Farmer Tyler Ranch got their cuts accurate by making a form out of another pipe.
You can use your cutting guide for the angle cuts. Mark out the top then move it 1". 3/4", 1 3/8" what ever you need for the other side or the pipe. it will work.
To make an angled cutting template get a pop bottle, or another plastic bottle that will just slide over the pipe, and cut both ends off so you have a hollow cylinder. Then heat up one of the pipes really hot with a torch. After, melt the cut end of the bottle against the hot pipe at the appropriate angle for the brace. Clean it up, slide it on the pipe you want to cut, and mark away.
I think you did real good on the welding. You may have thought about this, but you could fill the thin post with concrete or an expanding foam to sturdy it up, just a suggestion. I wish I had done more welding back when I was your age, but I do have my sons to help me too. Good luck on the rest of the fencing, have a good evening!

I think your fence braceings look great Evan, and they will last for many years and be well worth your efforts. Great to paint them with an antirust paint. If you have some plate steel laying around you could also cut out metal coins for caps.
No all will be pretty cuts don’t get a swelled head, but your good at this, your a natural, later you can paint all these dark green or black for pretty. You don’t even make a pattern tracer. Wow you make pretty welds. My daddy would be impressed. Remind us how many of these are you going to do.
This pipe idea works. It is an on going spring project, great videos and talking to us. You must have got some great prices on more pipe. It still works. 32 pipes and 20 at 10 ft. At what $200.

What a great job you are doing.
You can notch your short post first when you are putting your kicker in. This will keep you from needing a cap there and it will speed your progress up.
Get yourself a mechanic’s “creeper” to make lying down welding a bit easier and you will get use of it working on equipment as well

Great job considering you're learning on the fly. I worked for a company for over 30 years that had a lot of professionally installed pipe railing like that and especially on those downward sloping sections you need to make sure you don't have even a small pin hole that will let water in. Over the years I started noticing several water freeze blowouts around the plant.
You certainly didn’t pick the easy option for your fence but it looks great and it looks strong enough to last a very long time.

Planning ahead can never be understated! My Dad was the same way and it got him exactly where he wanted to be and under the best terms possible, in the long run…and that my friend is playing the long game as they say and exactly what makes a difference in success
Hello Evan, Several years ago, For portable welding I started using the 3/32 inch welding electrodes instead of the 1/8 inch electrodes which in my scenario was mostly the E7018 and sometimes the E7014 electrodes which allowed me a good hot arc but with a lesser amperage which really helped out for situations that the additional amperage that would have to be used for the 1/8 inch electrodes which would often blow out areas that you were trying to weld - Not good!!!
The downside with the E7018 electrodes was the moisture factor which made them a bit aggravating to strike the arc once they were out of the container for a bit. I was using a diesel Miller Big Blue 402, So amperage was never a problem.
Regarding the plasma cutter, Most people never realize that grinding a small area on rusty or painted metal for the clamp will make all of the difference in the world in the performance of the plasma torch which relies upon a electrical path just like any welder does. POR 15 is an outstanding product! I use it on frames and the bottom side of my flatbed and any surface that is not exposed to direct sunlight, if it is exposed to direct sunlight I believe they recommend you put a topcoat over it. They maybe changed that in the past couple years?? It was about 2 years ago I did my flatbed and paint shop and can both said any surface exposed to sunlight has to have a topcoat on it

Evan one way to fill holes or big gaps is to lay a welding rod in it and melt the rod into the gap.

Looking good keep the bare skin covered when welding or plasma cutting. May be hot but Melanoma (skin cancer) from the UV exposure is a lot worse.
Get an umbrella. picnic table/tractor umbrella bigger the better stick it in which ever post you're working near . Work in the shade. Or a cheap folding canopy.
i have built alot of posts fences and i have found it is a good idea to drill a small hole like 1/4 or 1/8 in the bottom side of each pipe at the weld expectly on the down hill side so any water will drain out and also vent inside the pipe to keep it dry so it wont rust through so fast. will help keep your fence up alot longer

Take one of your angled pieces with you and make a cardboard template from it. Cut it out and then make your marks and then fit the template around it and draw and cut. It works good. Your welds are looking good. Put the POR on it and it should be good
Wielding it practice practice and on and on . I've know some wielders and they are never satisfied with the last wield .

Try using flux-core wire in your next fence pipe project, you might find it fast and easier for you than stick. By the way you need to topcoat the POR 15 because it will fade and turn chalky.

Cut the angled pipe freehand until it's perfect. Then mark up a piece of 3" PVC pipe to make a new cutting guide.

When you get them burn throughs turn the amperage down and just do like spot welds when the red goes away do another and keep going till hole is filled.
way back in the day working out of service truck picked up a large umbrella like the used on tractors in the field or along the highway when they didn't have cabs you'd have to make a mount to fit on your tractor or the truck you get the idea

if you use por15 you also have to put a topping coat on it. It is not uv resistant

Evan, a few years back before internet I bought plans and stuff from Farm show magazine, almost like a decal patter to cut metal pipes for different projects, never used them though.
I'd be happy with those field welds on pipe.
