    So glad you made this one JP, I could only watch I little bit at the beginning of the live so it was great to see that you made it. Honestly if this doesn't shut up those blokes, and they are always blokes, who say they can drive for hours non stop so they couldn't have an EV I don't know what will. We need to tell them that this car is not the only one that can do it, you'll know best if its be the best value one that can do it though.
    Loved the useful info about all the places you know too, that was great. 👍

    My 22 plate Niro 4+ has 38k miles on the clock. On a sunny day like today it comes up as 333 miles of range at 100% and it certainly will get that in real life. This is a fantastic EV averaging nearly 6 miles per kWh when driven sensibly. And great comfort, practicality and versatility.

    Watched most of the original.
    At a charger yesterday, and one of the diesel moaners pulled in beside me in his company MG5. 'I could drive 800 miles in my diesel van, keep having to stop to charge this....' etc I responded well it only takes me 30 seconds to charge, then I go for coffee, loo or snack. ' Well I have to get to jobs a long way..' As I unplugged I parted with 'well a friend of mine has a fleet of these doing mobile service and repair, thay do 50k miles a year , so you must not be doing it right...'

    I think it’s a good thing, that the likes of the RAC & AA are offering an emergency EV top-up. Even with the period that the ICE has been around, drivers still run out of petrol/diesel.

    On Sunday the A9 was closed at Calvine. I was in Kingussie charging and left at 90% charge in my Zoe 52Kwh to get back to Glasgow. Drove to Fort William thinking of top-up charging but I used Eco mode and B mode regen on the way.
    Got to Fort William and thought I may as well go to Crianlarich before charging up again. I got to Crainlarich and thought.... hold on, I can get back to Glasgow on what was left. Got to my flat in Glasgow with 23% left. So 67% used to go 160 miles because I wasn't on the A9 doing 60-70mph. WOW.

    If you’re coming down this way again, there is a decent sized Fastned site at Hamilton. 1 junction before Hamilton svcs. It’s beside the retail park behind the trees adjacent to the motorway.
    Not had to use it myself yet as it’s only a few miles from me getting home, and I’ve never been desperate enough to need to crawl in on turtle.

    OH has just done a 230 mile trip to London in our Niro 3 showing 270 miles at 100% when she set off. Said you should get there in one go but she is a little paranoid since she went into turtle on the M1 in our 30 Leaf and just made it to the rapid. Spoke last night she arrived with 70 miles remaining and never bothered charging, all motorway apart from approx 50 miles of A & B roads. Will charge to 100% at on street charger outside her mums house at 11 kW. Confident she can get home without a charge stop. Was getting 6mpkwh last summer in those mid 20 temps. Brilliant car for economy considering its size and shape.

    300+ miles while driving slow(ish) or 248 miles driving at 'not the speed limit'? I'll take the latter thanks! I'll be with those German cars tonking past but in my E-Niro!
    Its so efficient, I don't need to think about hypermiling it!
    I say 248 miles, because that is what it showed at the start of my journey but my bladder went at Birmingham so I took a charge at the open to all Superchargers while we ate and drank at Wetherspoons!
    I know Jonathan just did this to prove how far it can go on a charge but I could never do this - I love driving but long distance in the UK is a crappy feeling!

      some e niro have a motor whine but Kia are replacing these under warranty , no questions asked. As regards degradation , with the 67kWh total , any degradation is masked until it gets to 64kWh total , so they have a 3kWh 'buffer' at the top of the battery.

    Great video, I’m new to EV’s and purchased the exact same model as you and very happy with it. Can you confirm the miles your tripometer stated you did is what you actually did, as when I use Wase in mine the speedo over reads by nearly 10% so I assume the mileometer does the same? So that makes the 5.1 per kw read incorrectly also. Also that would mean a car with 100000 miles on the clock has only done 91000!

    • @JonathanPorterfield
      @JonathanPorterfield  23 дня назад

      Speedos always are set by manufacturers to read 10% more than actual speed, the miles covered are accurate.
      In the video you can see the total miles on the dash at the start and finish.

  • @Magic-Smoke
    @Magic-Smoke 27 дней назад +1

    Dear Mr P, Either your video editor needs a geography lesson or the regen control on the Kia is way more powerful than you say. You went from using regen to slow down at the Keir roundabout (just before Dunblane on the A9) to talking about the RAC man on the M74 about 60 miles or more behind you! That's quite an effect! Happily you then jumped forward again to the A9 roundabout before Perth... Don't take liberties with us - we know the roads - lol ;)

    Hi Jonathon. Always thought the speed limit was 70 on the dual carriageway sections.
    And I’m probably one of those types of drivers that tries to get past the HGV drivers on the limited dual carriageway sections. They can be ridiculously slow on some of the uphill sections (not their fault I know). Plus by the time I’ve reached the A9 I’ve generally been driving for 8 and a half hours so just want to get to the destination. Not over the limit obviously as it’s all average speed cameras. Rich

      Doing 45-50 mph on A class road with a 60-mph speed limit with good road conditions and visibility, I will define as slow, and yes numpties will try and overtake you .
      The UK is missing German motorways. All we have is endless roadworks and average speed cameras everywhere.

      @@xperyskop2475 Half the vehicles on the A9 are LGVs, vans, motorhomes or cars towing caravans, they all have a 50mph limit so that sets the overall speed for the road.
      It might have escaped your notice but Germany is surrounded by nine countries and doesn't have any areas of
      particularly low population density, so whichever direction you go there's always an economic reason for an autobahn, 90% of which have speed limits. The north of Scotland, the subject of this video, has one of the lowest population densities anywhere in Europe and does not need or want a motorway.
