Hi I just bought the carscope i-tester from Ryans Automotive In Ireland is there more info on common rail testing? I also bought you're sensor simulator so far great tools.
Hello @Alzarqani, Thank you for your interest in our products. This test is only a comparison between cylinders so we can use this method to "see" if we have a cylinder (s) with low compression by comparing one cylinder to the next. Hence the term "relative". I can't understand why most shops don't do relative compression tests . Way back when Snap On put out the MT-2400 Vantage this could be done with an amp clamp . Or a graphing multimeter , such as a high end Fluke , etc . You don't need the skills of a lab scope . This is tool is even easier . The time and labor to do a compression test , possibly removing the intake plenum , etc. What about seized plugs , broken plugs or baked on wires ? At least you know if a cylinder is low or dead . It's just over $ 300.00 . I just don't get it !

Hi Nate A, Thank you for the interest in our products. The principle of the relative compression test is based on tracking the battery current/voltage changes during cranking to determine the compression values of all cylinders. The relative compression analysis does not measure the actual pressure, but just compares one cylinder to the next. Hence the term "relative". But how does it measure?
Where does it get the data from?
How does it measure pressure?
