The American A321 Flight Experience

- After my 1st semester in San Francisco ended, I flew to Chicago, Illinois for a wedding with family and friends to celebrate. To get there, I took an American A321, one of the most common planes AA flies and on one of the most popular routes: SFO-ORD. It was just as I've come to expect from American, which isn't anything much, so in that retrospect...my expectations were met. It wasn't a bad flight, but certainly could've been better in hard product and soft. Hope you guys enjoy!

Those views from the plane window are absolutely gorgeous.
I agree
I always loved looking at the in flight magazines as a child growing up. I was so sad when I realized they slowly started disappearing along with the tv screens on the seats 😭😭
Absolutely amazing trip report. I also have American Airlines status and if I didn’t live in their biggest hub Dallas Fort Worth, I probably wouldn’t be flying them as much. Just a month ago, me and my mom flew from Dallas Fort Worth to Boston and back on the same plane you flew on, the A321 in main cabin and I would agree with you that although the interior is brand new, I really wish that they would add PTV’s and more cushion to the seats, it would really make American Arlines shine more. Also, I’ve been watching your videos for years and absolutely love them, which makes me want to fly more.
I think American's A321's (the newer ones, anyway) are delish. They always give me sort of a sleek hard product experience, even in Economy.

Following your flight experience is fun for the viewers. Thanks for taking us along!
American Airlines was once a great airline. They were the first airline that I flew on way back in 1968. It was a Boeing 707 LAX to Kennedy in NY. One of the best flights I had on American was in 1986 on a brand-new Boeing 767 flying home on leave to Fort Wayne IN. The 767 leg of the flight was from Frankfurt Germany to Chicago. The service was great and due to the late arrival of the flight into Frankfurt I missed my connection to Fort Wayne. American went ahead and made new reservations for me and also rushed me through Customs so I would make my connection with time to spare. I also flew on a new Boeing 767 on the way back to Germany.
Never been in a 707! What was it like?
@@jadenstark5171 For a 9-year-old it was a very exciting trip especially after my mom had really built up the excitement of flying across the country. The 707 was the jumbo jet for its day and the seats even in coach were big and roomy. The one thing I remember was having to circle and wait to land at JFK or quite some time. I also remember the food being pretty good and there were quite a few selections from the menu too.
So glad you have a little free time between your studies to be able to post some vlogs. Always look forward to seeing them! Thanks for sharing
The sound tracks are always great in these videos!
Thanks great video, you the man..
Back to back posts! Everytime I get on YT there's a new one yessir
Fantastic review Chris!😸
I’m actually traveling to Chicago next month to go to a wedding as well. My dad and I are going to be driving from Chattanooga which is like 9-10 hours. We get to stay there for a week and then leave a day or two after the wedding.
sunset & night flights>> sunrise and day flights
I am a frequent Alaska Airlines customer and tend to take that company for granted as being the norm, until I watch a video about other U.S. carriers.
Love the videos. Wish I could travel more like you. Just was on a United 737 8 max. Very nice and the FA was very friendly
Those ORD taxi times can be crazy, sometimes you get to do a full lap around it
Your videos always make the day better 🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
All is right with the world with thejazzguy back uploading to YT.
omg the masks are so nostalgic 🤣
Not to me.
hahaha thank God those days are long gone 🤞
I used to Fly a lot of American/US Airways A321s never seen those bins before very cool to see.
I get them not having screen on like an One Hour/Hour and a half flight. But 3 and half hours 😬 jeez. When my family and I flew Delta and had to do a connecting flight through Atlanta. Although the flight was like 2 and a half hours. That plane had a Screen and since it was a 6am flight. They gave us breakfast since boarding was at 5:40
7:36 As someone who works in the industry for one of your favorite carriers. I've seen that while people would love to have PTV in their seatback, I've seen in more often that when said PTV doesn't work, which is often more common than people realize, it ruins the customer's experience. By having people use their own devices, while having seatback charging ports, it allows the customer to have a more personal experience, cuts down on weight on the airplane, and allows for more leg room for the customer (we have one of the largest seat pitch in the industry for economy).
These factors make BYOD a better business model than PTV in the seatback.
Simply not true, JetBlue has seat back entertainment and they have the most leg room in economy with 32inchs of leg room tied with southwest. American is around 30inchs. American Airlines has the worst customer service out of all the main line airlines. Always seems like they do not care and it’s only for the money
No, all those points are good for the airline, NOT for the consumer. You actually make that point... The PTV is expensive to deploy, expensive to maintain, its always broken and customers get upset when it is... so instead of fixing the issue with better systems and IT support, the airlines' response is... we'll just can it altogether and tell the customers they should bring their own... hey, perhaps they should do the same with food and blankets?
@@frrrfrrr9177 Re-read my comment, I said "we have ONE OF the largest seat..." not "we have THE LARGEST", meaning Alaska isn't the only airline.
I also mentioned IFE screens tend to be broken more often than not and ruins the customer experience.
@@JerryNordstrom It's expensive... People want cheap tickets.
It breaks often... Hard to get maintenance to fix it at an outstation that doesn't have maintenance....
Through R&D they've found many passengers prefer their own devices with good wifi and inflight entertaining services.
With regards to food and blankets. Again, people care more about cheap tickets than amenities. If people want MORE amenities, they'll have to pay for it, which a lot of people don't want to do.
It's an unfortunate result of the ULCC and Southwest Airlines bringing the industry to a 'no frills' concept for short/medium routes forcing competition. Competition is always a good thing, but it caused the market to have to reduce service to compete with undercut fares and service.
@@erauprcwa should I take 2 months to respond to this comment?
By the way was that gate H16 you arrived at Chicago O’hare? I arrived at that gate on a flight not too long ago, about 2 weeks ago now! By the way in the description, N102NN was not the n number because that n number is on one of AA’s newer A321S aircraft
Was just on one the other day for a flight from DFW-EWR.
Always, always a fun “watch!”………………..
Crazy how omnicron was spreading like crazy during this time
Always show up to the airport early especially at SFO 2 hours if not more!!!
I have a feeling that TJG13 actually has two sisters. When he posted his Cedar Point video, his sister looked different than the sister in this video did.
i am a big fan of the American A319 and A321
Can't wait for you to upload your trip to Kansas City!!!
Sorry man skipping it for now :/
@@thejazzguy13 if you upload the Kansas City trip expect a flood of comments. They will be about Jack Stack BBQ, the Steelers vs Chiefs game, old MCI and new MCI, and Omaha's proximity to Kansas City
Been there done that, got the t shirt.
Tip for the in flight map: I found a loop hole on AA to track where you are flying through. A) Have airplane mode B) sign into the AA wifi but DO NOT purchase C) Open up Google Maps and have the tracking setting on. I've had my photos on Google Photos have a more accurate GPS location from this trick and even my Google Timeline identified (for the most part) my route from LAX to ORD and then DFW to LAX last year!
Why doesn’t American have in flight map but United does?
@@jadenstark5171 really don't know. Was wondering that too when I flew with them last year a few times
Same here not a big American or United fan! I’m more of a Delta fan as they have had the best service and happen to have a hub in my
Home state
Even Spirit offers a flight tracker
Thanks for telling it like it is. The network will keep you coming back and nothing else
Flying San Francisco to Chicago basically follow I-80!!!
Next flight up will be from Chicago to Pittsburgh and finally a new Pittsburgh video!!!
if you flew UA you could listen too the cockpit channel which is always fun
If you ever get to the Detroit area and have time, be sure to check out the Polish Village Cafe in Hamtramck!!!
Hi Jazz Guy. You’re my favorite RUclipsr and I will always support you and be subscribed to your channels. I’ve been a big fan of your content for a good while now! Which editing software would you recommend the most?
If ur starting out iMovie works really well...used it for a long time!
Awesome! Thanks so much
AA used to have widebodies to ord from sfo
At least they have snack service and a choice of drinks. That’s not often seen on European carriers. But I agree it’s better on airlines like Delta and Southwest than on American.
You probably weren't able to see Omaha due to the clouds and darkness!!!
Nice review..
But Bart over Uber is a no brainer to SFO
I always hate it having to wait for your gate to be ready and to open
Last winter the Sierra Nevadas had a record winter and still has snow on the mountains and people were trapped in their homes for several weeks they couldn't get supplies they need
You said you flew on N102NN, however, it's at the gate next to yours at 4:33!
For short flights/domestic, I prefer using my own device. For international, PTV
You should have flown on UA that day they have widebodies flying this route like 787s and 777s as this route is one of their most premiums routes😢😅😊
I’m flying with Allegiant next week! Have you flown with them?
I'd agree, BYOD is not a great idea. Tablets are not mainstream and they are generally used as a home remote control not a travel companion, a laptop is too cumbersome for that space, you have to be 18 to want to watch on a smartphone... I feel that most would rather leave their bags packed up and just flick on the seat screen.. easy. I think they also lose out on marketing, licensing and other revenue generating opportunities...
Just went through ORD two weeks ago, waited on the tarmac for an hour, and ended up with 15 minutes in between flights ☠️
Wait, now you are talking First Class? Are you going Jeb Brooks on us? Where lay-flat seats only get 2/5 stars?
My Polish cousins had family members in Chicago that refused to learn English and still got by. Emergencies usually required a translator though.
My mothers maiden name was Teresinski, central Wisconsin. Stevens Point is a hot bed of Polocks also. I've heard every polish joke that was written, believe me
Actually, most A321CEOs don't have moodlighting. That's only found on the NEOs and Transcon A321s
Yeah, these guys at management have a mix of things when it comes to the interiors. Same as with the 737s wall panels 🤷🏻♂️
you need to do a PIT update
Is this the same as the a321NEO or totally different? Older?
I flew PIT-DFW in an American A321
Why do you take such an expensive airline for such poor service? I have always flown on a low price carrier for quite a while, but then again I'm from Chicago and we have a huge transportation selection.
Wasn’t your family just in Poland?
Why does AA A321 have both the wingtip fence style and newer shark-let’s?
The ones with the Starlets (fence) are the Legacy US Airways fleet and the ones with Sharklets are the Legacy American Airlines fleet that were from the massive order AMR placed in 2011 before the bankruptcy.
not a fan of the 321 was on DL twice and it want fun rather be on a 757
I flew on an A321 this morning. Sheesh
i thoroughly hated my flight on American from LAX to LHR on their 777-300 in economy
my home airline (austrian) has better seats and leg space on their short haul fleet than american on their 777..
it was my first flight ever that i wished to be over soon..
We were sad when Lufthansa stopped flying into Linz... In addition Lufthansa ticket prices were over $800 more expensive per ticket San Diego to Munich (direct flights however). So AA it is, fortunately the connections and layovers are relatively short making total travel time about 3 hours different. Save $1,600 for 3 hours? Yes I'll take that. But there is no doubt about the quality of Lufthansa and Austrian Airlines - far superior..
Poor planning with getting to the airport so late, not weighing your bag, and not eating. If the late arrival to the airport was due to switching to BART, also poor planning because you could have checked the Uber rates several days prior to departing. Any delay (BART, TSA, etc.) could have easily resulted in you missing your flight. If you are “on time”, then you are LATE.
second comment what's up
Yo, the jazzguy13 please fly into Columbus, ohio
That kinda looks like an A320 winglet... Anyone agree?
Because all legacy A319/A320/A321 US Airways fleet had starlets (older jets)
@@sju_planespotter Oh ok thx for the answer, this was confusing me.
A snack ? ☠️ the amount of money they charge and have the audacity to do that
Sup chris
Sup 🤙🏻🤙🏻
I really like your videos keep up with the good work greetings from el salvador🇸🇻🇸🇻😁🤙
Yea? Everyone always posts “don’t drink the coffee or hot tea” due to water tank cleanliness?

First comment 🗿
the plane not having entertainment screens isn’t an american airlines thing, it’s an airbus thing.
Its American airlines thing, both delta and united airbus 320f have seat back screens.
Only the A321T has seat back screens becuaee its transcontinental configuration, which contains three classes.
American is pretty disappointing
By American you mean US Airways 😉
Can you please quit cutting flights close!!!
@thejazzguy13 the seats look like the ones from the a220 breeze
