This is a GREAT contribution. Of the several other similar YT efforts that I have been able to find, this is clearly the best one. It is clear, concise and thorough. It shows how to take the top apart, then how to erect it again. The most helpful is the section about how to release the cable connectors and then reattach them. I learned so much from watching it and can't thank Tyler enough for taking the time to produce it.
Had to replace the radiator cap on my Boxter and the only way to get to it is how you described. Did it and it worked PERFECTLY! Thank you so much.... would never have tried without this video and if I did I would have broken something. Thanks again, saved me plenty $$
Awesome video. Just used it to replace my leaking coolant cap - common issue. The carpet reinstall was def the most difficult part. Overall watching and pausing the video job took 40 mins overall.
Thanks a ton! I am selling my S3 and getting a 981 Boxster. This was intimidating! you made is do-able! Im not gunna lie though...if ur upgrading anything....just do it all at once :P
Very useful thanks for sharing. I have the 981 workshop manual. It shall be cayman and boxster applicable, but the engine access part for boxster seems missing😢
Omfg the first video that shows how to get access to that rear window!!!! Thank you!!!!! Curious when you moved it back to 18.5" did you have to manually move it by hand or use the switch to open it from 4"?
To be fair it only took 8 minutes to get to the engine, so it’s not the end of the world. Service intervals are every 2 years , which is good, but the downside is you will probably have forgotten how to do this properly again by the time it becomes due ! I am just wondering how many times a typical 981 owner will do this in over the period they own the car? Probably not very often I’ll bet. Plenty maintenance tasks are done from either under the car or from behind the bulkhead.
This is exactly why I take my 981 to a Porsche certified shop
lmao just bought a 2014 boxster s ,i was thinking maybe i will work on it but now not so much lol.

Thanks. That’s exactly why I made the video. No other video on RUclips explained every step clearly.
This is the best step by step 981 video on engine access. I appreciate all the specific details that were clearly explained.
Thank you for such a detailed video on how to do this! Best I've seen!
Best how to video ever. Pace, lighting, detail. Thank you
This is fantastic...I did not know the 4" and 18" rule...Thanks!!!!!
Excellent video, no fluff, just good detailed how to explanation.

This is an awesome video! Love all the detail you put into it. Much appreciated. 🙂
Glad it’s helpful

Thank you for sharing! This is the best & most thoroughly video I’ve seen…👏👍

Thank you. Clear and concise directions.
Thanks. I couldn’t find any videos that really went through everything in detail so I decided to make my own.
@@tylerrahm4368 Porsche needs to pay you!
thanks very good instructions but defiantly will now continue to take my 981 to Shop this is a job in it self😂

Excellent video, thank you. Gives me the confidence to do it myself.
ive seen a few videos on this but this one is far better then the rest.
WOW ..... thanks for taking the effort to make this INFORMATIVE video. Hope you will make many more!!!!
nice work
Awesome video! Perfect timing as I'm about to embark on installing my IPD Competition Plenum 981!
Plenum isn’t hard but is kind of a pain to do if you don’t use the right technique. There are some good videos out there explaining it.
Amen. Lots of quality content on installing the IPD plenum.
great job especially one handed !
Omfg the first video that shows how to get access to that rear window!!!! Thank you!!!!!

I used the switch.
Great job - thanks for the detailed walk-thru!
Bravo. Doing God's work

Awesome instructions!!! Good job!!!
Very informative. Thank you
Thank you very much, great video!
do you have aftermarket valved exhaust?
It’s the Porsche Sport Exhaust. It is valved. Sounds great!
What a pain to unlatch the engine access....
I agree. I'll gladly pay a mechanic to do this. It's not just like popping open the hood of a front-motor car.
@@azmike3572 Agreed, but a front engine car isn't a Porsche either. :)
Now if I could just get him (my son Tyler) to install my new plugs for me!
Wow !
Great gob
Kinda like just popping the hood. Muahhahahaha
German engineering!
I absolutely LOVE this car but this is the only thing that kinda scares me of buying a 981 is engine access.
And only £1000 labour at a Porsche dealership, that's before they even reach the engine!
Unreal.
Painful and ridiculous! Nice one, Porsche! Yeah, I won't be buying any mid engine boxter any time soon. Make that ever.
This is a joke, right?
