    What do you think about the 13 Forsaken? Which one is the most dangerous Forsaken of all? Let me know in the comments below!

    • @davidjones272
      @davidjones272 Год назад

      It's likely that there will only be 8 Forsaken in the show, (there were only 8 seals). Ishamael, Lanfear, Moghedien, Graendal and Sammael have already been confirmed. Asmodean is vital to the story and should definitely be in the next season.
      Of the others, it's likely that Semirhage and Demandred will be the 2 included, as they have the largest roles in the story (although they are more prominent towards the end).
      Aginor created lots of different types of Shadowspawn, not just Trollocs and Fades. It's likely that at least one of these will be used in future seasons (although probably not season 3); something called a Gholem, it's something way more dangerous than what's been shown so far.

    I also love Graendal (translation from the Old Tongue; The Vessel of Pleasure) and her unique back story. During The Age of Legends she was a brilliant psychologist (which explains her ability to manipulate her victims) who lived a life of abstinence. But when she went over to the Dark One she reversed all of her beliefs and became a hedonist because she secretly looked down on people who did not live up to her standards of a simple life. She is also named after Grendel’s Mother from the epic poem of Beowulf which is a fun Easter Egg.

    Being a philosopher and theologian Ishamael joined The Shadow and established The Forsaken not because he wanted to but because he saw The Dark One’s victory as assured do to the cyclical nature of The Wheel and that we will have to fight him over and over again every Age until he does win. He is The Shadows must loyal servant but at the same time the one who hates The Shadow arguably the most who sees no hope for the future and wants to speed up the process he considers an inevitability. He is an intellectual cynic filled with self loathing and hatred who is willing to let the world burn to finally achieve eternal death. Needless to say he is not only my favorite antagonist in the series but also one of the best villains in all of literature. He hates life so much that The Dark One doesn’t even punish him for his failures when he (spoiler alert) resurrects him because he sees life itself as a punishment.

    I like what you said about Asmodean being like a spoiled brat. He joined the Shadow to perfect his craft as a musician. He was actually a prodigy, and yet he despised those who seems better than him. As a Forsaken, out of sheer jealousy he would maim famous artists to the point they can no longer do their craft. He even stilled his own mother and fed her to the Trollocs to prove his loyalty to the Shadow.

    Ishamael from The Wheel of Time is my ultimate favorite fantasy book villain. He starts out the series as your stereotypical evil dark overlord until (around the end of the series) you discover the reasoning and motivation behind his actions; and that (when you really think about it) he is completely justified in believing that all of the horrible things he does throughout the series is entirely necessary with the information he is given. He is the OG Death Seeking Immortal who is willing to destroy reality itself so that he can finally be allowed die and rest in peace.
    P.S. Your right in thinking this isn’t the last we see of him 🤫

    My favorite is Asmodean… because his motivation and pettiness reminds me of Salieri (one of my favorite film villains) from the Peter Shaffer stage play and movies adaptation of Amadeus. Also, (to all those who have watched Helluva Boss) he is named after the demon king Asmodeus (the embodiment of lust) from both Hebrew and Christian Mythology.

      Its Ishamael, Lanfear, Moghedien (we have seen them) and Graendal, Sammael have been mentioned, so just 3 more spots left. That leaves us with "The boys" that judging by the comment of Lanfear means no more girls. That leaves Demandred (the most important left) and most likely Rahvin or Aginor (Be'lal and Balthamel are unsignificant and would definitely not be in). Asmodean's role apparently would be taken by Logain to be Rand's mentor.

      They have said there are 8 of them coming, and they said specifically went out of their way to state that Mesaana and Aginor were not.
      As for Asmodean, he is actually coming, to do the training.
      The main reason, is Logain does not know enough to help Rand learn to the level he can beat a Forsaken in a One Power battle, before his memories develop. He needs a male Forsaken, and that is Asmodean.@@Alejojojo6

      Right. There's good reason to believe we will only see eight of the Forsaken. For various reasons I won't spoil, though they do take into account both the books and the show, I quite seriously doubt we'll be seeing Aginor, Balthamel, or Be'lal. Which of the other two are likely to be missing is more debatable. Possibly some actions in the books by the missing Forsaken could be taken instead by non-Forsaken characters.

    Supposedly, only 8 of the 13 Forsaken will be shown in the "adaption" of Wheel of Time. In the books, Aginor & Belthalmel were closest to the Bore and therefore appeared first. They did not appear in the show; it appears they were rolled into Ishamael. Ishamael was only partly sealed behind the bore and popped out occasionally to reek havoc.
    Lanfear and Lews Theran were lovers, but he left her and married another woman. Lanfear was very ambitious and wanted power, which is why Lews Theran left her. She was very jealous.
    Asmodean teaches Rand about Saidin, so he plays an important role in the story.
    Moghedien was considered the weakest in the one power. But she was the strongest in Tel'aran'rhiod. Lanfear claims she is the strongest in Tel'aran'rhiod. But she isn't. Moghedien gets captured and shielded and teaches Egwene, Elayne, and Nyneave how do certain weaves. She plays an important role in the story.
    Graendal is mentioned, so I expect she will return. But I think Mesaana, who is not mentioned, is actually more important to the story.
    Rahvin also plays a consequential role but who knows.
    In truth, Amazon's Wheel of time is not a very faithful adaption of the source material and isn't very good.

    • @justinmccray5014
      @justinmccray5014 7 месяцев назад

      Amazon's adaptation is very faithful to the source material. They just have to condense it for film. You are thinking books have to equal a film. You cannot have that or your film will have boring segments and it'll be too long. These things have budgets.

    I didn't see the “most powerful “ of Ishamael as the books says - including the weaves we was throwing at Egwena where not powerful enough according to me - we needed Drogos Fire- harricane weaves, lightning weaves - to show more of his power but we got basics 🤦🏽‍♂️🤦🏽‍♂️ and how he died was boring - hopefully it was one of his tricks or something…

    • @ryazanalester6136
      @ryazanalester6136 Год назад

      I think Ishamael was weakened during his fight with Egwene. He has already broken the seals of the rest of the Forsaken. Breaking one seal consumes a huge amount of the One Power, as was shown in ep4. And he has broken six at the same time. No matter how powerful he is, that would take a huge toll on him physically.

    • @ryazanalester6136
      @ryazanalester6136 Год назад +1

      Although Ishamael's death scene feels anticlimactic to me, I still think its right. Ishamael just wanted to die. That's why he just stood there as Rand approaches to stab him. I think the cold open is to explain this moment. Ishamael has been waiting for the killing blow for 3,000 years, ever since he begged Lews Therin to not seal him and just kill him. So I believe he's dead for real. However, his death does open a future plot for a certain book character, of whom I'll not give further details to avoid spoilers.

    Great series except for readers of the books who inevitably always end up disappointed. Mainly for two simple reasons: one because every reader has it's own vision and secondly because books and tv are two very different medium, even though streaming has made possible to flesh stories better than cinema, Producers are never guaranteed they will be allowed to do the whole series and because it's a different medium they have to often condense what's in the book. To put everything in it sometimes isn't possible. Hopefully though the writers of this show do not change the characters or the narrative.

Case point Perrin, Elyas Machera and the wolf sendings. However changing the characters Essenes was taking it far. Case in point Lanfear. Rand, Mat, Abel Cauthon, Matt, Egwene, Avienda for Gaul substitution, Changing the nature of the one power (Logain Ablar and the female channellers being able to see Saidar and Saidin. Cadsuanne not being there for the capture of Logain) I could go on, but I believe my basic point has been made. They changed the story to the point it no longer resembles the source material

      Not quite. Any Forsaken CAN be killed by any means that can kill any other person. It's just unlikely due to how powerful they are. They only get resurrected if The Dark One decides to resurrect them. Balefire does something completely different. It causes whoever falls victim to it to have never existed at all up to a certain point in time depending on how strong the weave is. The True Source is not used by all or even nearly all of the Forsaken. It is a power bestowed by The Dark One to those he finds deserving of it. The rest just channel the One Power.

    We'll likely end up with 8, 4x male, 4x female. To be honest some can be cut easlily. One of RJs few flaws was making baddies a bit too 2dimensional. They were despots in the AoL and in the 3rd age just a bit weak. Rafe distilling them to the 8 best / most required and upping their nastiness is going to be essential. Looking forward to hot Graendal. Ishamael is nihilistic. His "death" in the books and show was fairly true to character. The only way for him to win was for the Dragon Reborn to be proclaimed and ultimately meet the DO. Long game. I'm guessing we'll see: Ishamael, Asmodean, Sammael, Demandred, Lanfear, Moghedien, Graendal, Semirhage. No Rhavin or Mesaana. The rest are bit players.
