I've been shooting for 10 years now and still not figured out how to travel with my camera stuff unless it's all in a big camera bag in my car. If I'm hiking, I generally use a regular rucksack and stick camera stuff at the top. Walking around in a city? Smallest body fitted with a prime lens and maybe a super wide in my pocket or in a small rucksack with my other stuff (water, snacks etc). What I never do is walk about anywhere with a camera bag full of kit, I don't know why but it's just not in my mindset. With all that, I'm still don't have a fully complete method. Throw in my two systems (Fuji x and nikon dslr) to make it more messy.
Yeah absolutely, everyone has their own way of doing things. I usually need a pack full of everything because I am making videos about the camera gear itself. If I was just out to capture some photos, I would travel much lighter.

I'll be honest, it's heavy lol. But it is only that way for me, because I need to bring so much extra gear to film videos about camera gear if that makes sense.
