I've looked through so many videos of interior designers only putting decorations/nicknacks on bookshelves. I was so happy to find someone who actually has regular books and puts them on bookshelves! I love your ideas on how to "hide" some of the less beautiful books with either brown paper or in a small box. I'm definitely going to use this idea! You have a new subscriber here!
I loved every bit of your video, you seem very sweet and kind, it is so refreshing seeing a bookcase full of books and tasteful decor collected over the years! I appreciate you taking the time to walk us through your wonderful bookcase, thank you this was much needed!
@@teresaelling-peacefulhome My mother passed away early 2020 and so have been incorporating things now from her home, selling things, selling my things, reorganizing, etc. I love your shelves and the idea of displaying and enjoying things rather than storing them was a great point. I love your mix of books and artifacts. Wish I had some built-ins like yours!
Also I have realized that part of the issue is that I need to gather "like with like" so I can sort and organize. House projects and other activities have meant things have gotten moved around many times and led to a lot of "jumble" - and adding things from my mom's has pushed things over the limit. So the idea of moving all of the things together by category is really helpful, too.
@@leoren2685 I am so sorry for the loss of your mom. 😢 It is quite a job to go through family keepsakes! It can be very emotional and overwhelming. I am sure you will be able to sort through and display things that are important to you while passing on some treasures for others. I do have another video that might be helpful for you:
Oh you have my favorite version of Pilgrims Progress. (Dangerous Journey) I bought about a dozen of those and gave them out to families that I know. It's nice to meet you. Homeschool mom here and was also homeschoolwd myself. God bless you and your family! ❤
How wonderful to continue the legacy of homeschooling. When I started in the 80s, I had never met anyone who homeschooled. Now my grandchildren are being homeschooled which is awesome! Thanks for watching!
@teresaelling-peacefulhome I'm so glad to hear that your grandchildren are also being homeschooled! The public schools are a mess! I'm so thankful that we still have the freedom to homeschool. In Wisconsin, they are pretty relaxed about it, but I know it varies from state to state. My husband and I have 3 and 2 still at home. My daughter is 17, and my son is 11. We do a lot of abeka and bju. We've tried others but considering I grew up on that, I'm comfortable with it. Sorry to ramble on. It does warm my heart to hear of other homeschooling families. It's a bit of a passion of mine, you might say. 😉 Proverbs 22:6
@@heart_towards_home The “rambling” is welcome!! Thank you for sharing this with me. Homeschooling is a passion for me as well, and I continually thank God for leading us to what I consider the best form of discipleship!
Love the horse figure. I was going to ask where it was from. What a treasure to have a Bible that was given out to soldiers and signed by FDR. Totally neat!
Hi Rachel, That Bible is one of my favorite thrifted finds! I am so so glad you commented and I was able to find your channel, too! Looks like you live out in the country - beautiful property!! 💛
@teresaelling-peacefulhome We do! God blessed us with a foreclosure for 69 cents on the dollar back in 2011. Needed a TON of fixing and it's still a work in progress. I'm looking forward to seeing more of your videos. My son will enjoy hearing about the army being given Bibles. He loves all things army / patriotic related. 😁 I'm definitely going to show him that Bible in your video.
@@heart_towards_home I love that - another blessing of homeschooling is seeing our children develop their interests and passions! Your home is such a testimony to God’s faithfulness!! 💛
Thank-you! You are so kind! 💛 I will be doing a Christmas tour but it will be rather simple this year because my daughter is getting married in 3 weeks!! Feel free to check my channel for Christmas videos from last season!
I like this video, but have you looked into the Norse gods like Odin, Thor, Frey, Freya and so on? I think that it is better to read of one's own forebears' gods instead of someone else's!
I am willing to read just about anything! 🤣 I actually did follow the religion of my ancestors. Finding a personal relationship with Jesus changed everything for me! All the best to you, hypnotictango, and thanks so much for watching!! 😊
@@teresaelling-peacefulhome Well, I can recommend that you read the Eddas and watch Richard Wagner's ring cycle. It is undeniable that Jesus was from the middle East, while your own forebears were from Europe.

@@teresaelling-peacefulhomeI on the other hand was thrilled when you mentioned your family Bibles and even read from the Army issued New Testament. There are plenty of home decor channels but not that many that will also mention their personal faith, especially if it’s the Christian faith. At last, a video about styling a book shelf that has actual books on it😁.
🤣

Exactly!
It's so much off young influencer girls putting cute books with decor items on shelving that I almost gave up!
