    I simply must know how home computer owners justified games like this in the waning days of their systems. Did C64 and Amstrad people try to say that they didn't need advanced graphics and background music because they were more mature or something?

    • @FadkinsDiet
      @FadkinsDiet 2 месяца назад +1

      And the c64 is plenty capable of doing music as good as the NES did

      Some people couldn't afford other systems, So they held on to what they had.

    • @gwishart
      @gwishart Месяц назад +1

      We justified it by saying: "I'd like to spend a few quid to play this game on a computer I already own - because I can't justify spending three months' wages on an Amiga or Atari ST."

    Why does he look better on the C64 than the Amiga and ST? Man, Ocean had the wrong team working on those. It should look way better than this.

    They was needed to use one color background trick for NES to make boss bigger and more colorful. It worked for Contra C and some other Konami games

    • @gwishart
      @gwishart Месяц назад +1

      Presumably that trick works by making the boss 'sprite' out of background tiles, and using scroll registers to move it around the screen?

    • @andyc6542
      @andyc6542 3 месяца назад

      Why though? Other than it being an odd curiosity, it really isn’t a great way to play the game if you can play it on better hardware.

    • @Deimos_Fresh
      @Deimos_Fresh 3 месяца назад +1

      @@andyc6542, mostly curiosity, but if it's a good port, then I can play it more often. Better hardware not always means better games. Mario All-Stars and Ninja Gaiden Trilogy is a good example for SNES and Batman Revenge of Joker for Sega example.

      I had it back in the day and it is good for what it is. Just be sure to have a 4 player adapter and a lot of joysticks if you want to play it with two players, playing with a single controller sucks.

    Puedo verlo 1.000.000 de veces, y me encanta el presentador con las muñequitas, me recuerda al estilo ese de la peli de arnold, the running man. Fantástico. LAs visceras en version arcade por lo menos están conseguidas. Es duro el jefe no? se ve q en amiga te tuvo q llevar un tiempo Xd. Lo notas por el cambio de las vidas del personaje Xd.

      Volví a ver la película hace poco mientras hacía la comparativa del otro canal, me encanta, jaja.
      Un rollo la de Amiga, tuve que recortar porque solo ese combate eran como cinco minutos... En SNES, a pesar de ser tan fiel al Arcade, este boss también es bastante más duro y también tuve que hacerlo.

  • @maleiva
    @maleiva 3 месяца назад

    El arcade es el juego original pero viendo sus ports mas fieles: Snes hay censura con la sangre pero es un buen port para las 16 bits hasta conserva los sonidos, las versiones de play y xbox aumentaron la cantidad de carga en la munición y bajaron la resistencia de Mutoid Man. El personaje jefe Orcus de Total Carnage (secuela espiritual) su diseño es prácticamente la fusión de Mutoid Man, Scarface y Die Cobros.

  • @chrisbg99

    I notice in those computer versions the Mutoid Man looks more puzzled by the situation.

    Amiga and ST are both fair ports, just Amiga is lot smoother. Im glad that c64 managed that huge boss sprite, bu total lack of backround graphics... On cpc and zx, the boss moves so stuttery, its a joke.

      C64, Spectrum and CPC are computers from 1982-84 with limited memory compared to later machines. They only had so much memory space to fit games from the arcade into. Sacrifices were always going to be made.

      @@retrosutraThat’s interesting, I’ve always assumed they were emulation, based on the PSX and Xbox being powerful enough to emulate the arcade. In my mind, writing a port would be much more work! You may very well be right, I’d just like to know more about your reasoning. Thanks for a great video!
