47:59 I love it everytime the princess hugs the prince, but in the SNES version she hugs him so strong that they spin... and then they kiss... I just love this game, probably the one I have finished the most in the snes
Yaay!!! I was waiting for this!! Thanks for uploading it! Snes, DOS, Macintosh and the one with macintosh sprites, and sega cd are my favorites!!! The best ones tho have got to be the sega cd and snes. Great job on all the hard work beating all of these games
Well done, great work! A VIC-20 version came out in April of this year too (I don't know whether that's a good or a bad thing to tell you now!). Thanks for the video
hahaha, thanks for telling me. I have already assumed that it was impossible to know all the unofficial versions so I am calm but I will keep that version in mind for future videos.
I would like to know what were the people behind the Sega remake and the later Xbox360 and PS3 and java thinking to decide to show a Princess as they did.
Funny how the NES version has the absolute least amount of effort put into it, while the SNES version is an unbelievably good expansion. Night and day.
I guess I can feel your pain playing some of those versions. Especially console ones. With the exception of SNES and Sega CD versions, others even with save states can be very frustrating. My guess you used v1.3 in DOS segment? For SNES version you could've used unofficial anniversary mod just for fun. I know Gamecube/PS2/Xbox versions should be the same, but when did Windows version came? There is Wii version like them, but I where did Windows version came from?
You're right about the Wii version. A user already told me about it in another video but I forgot to add it in the lower third. Regarding the Windows version, if I'm not mistaken The Sands of Time also came out in 2003 for that platform and includes the remake of PoP1. The DOS is v1.3, yes. Some versions have been very painful despite the savestates and others very pleasant despite not being able to do so, such as PC-98 and FM Towns. The most hellish experience was with the Sam Coupé conversion, seriously, it is frustrating and I almost went crazy with It.
@@retrosutra, that user was me. I was just surprised really. But about Windows version, as far as I know the room that unlocks Mac classic still exist, but made unreachable by normal means as you can't destroy the wall. Even if you get there, the game will crash. Pretty sure that means only console ports have Mac classic, while PC version only retains remake of classic first level. To be honest I pretty had good time with both PC-98 and FMTowns and even X68000 ports and consider them high quality among PoP1 versions. Compared to some ports, they have responsive controls and fighting mechanics carried from Apple 2 almost perfectly. PC-Engine on the other hand is decent port, but combat mechanics was poor and I struggled a lot with bosses like skeleton, fatty and Jaffar especially. I didn't play much of computer ports like C64 or Amstrad CPC and Sam Coupé. If Sam Coupé is anything close to horrors of Genesis and Master System versions, I guess there's a struggle ahead for me...
Stay away from Sam Coupé. It's the most abominable thing I've ever played in my life. Defeating the guards is very easy, but the jumps are very random. Sometimes you don't reach the next platform when you jump right at the edge, and other times you do. Moreover, when you take a short step, it doesn't prevent you from falling off the platform. Imagine all these limitations when you are playing on level 12. And there's more, the time the doors remain open after pressing a button is much shorter, which forces you to play even more hastily. In short, I spent many hours trying to complete it, and came very close to quitting, but I have a saying: "everything for retrosutra." Lol. I'll thoroughly research the Windows version and next time I'll add Wii in the text. Greetings!
It was released two weeks ago at Árok-party. Of course, it won the gamedev competition. :-> While watching your video and thought you just made this PoP collection now, so I can see the latest plus/4 port at the end of the video. Sorry for my false preconception. ;->
@@zajzzzz ohh, I had no idea, what a shame. I'll take a look at it because I'm sure it must be worth converting that game for that system. I can assure you that I would have added it to the video if I had known about it.
I want to add this to my next Prince of Persia video. I'm using Yape because it doesn't load in Vice in any way, but I'm having a lot of problems. After completing a level, it stops loading. It's very unstable. I've started the game like 5 times :-_( Maybe I should tweak something in the emulator's settings? Any advice?

In The Sega CD Version You could see how much blood their was when javiar was dead, it scared me
36:30 the fact they included the mouse here 🤣
“Good show! Jolly good show!” - Pops from Regular Show
Before we used to say "does it run Doom?", the proper question was "does it run Prince?"
43:30 probably one the most visually impressive one I've seen, because it actually has voiced cutscenes. But why does he sound so goofy lol
In anime style, he looks too young 😳

The Princess and the prince: Hugs
The mouse: Oh, Hi there 😂
big fan of the dos version of the original prince of persia game
It is the one I played in my childhood (with VGA graphics and PC Speaker sound) so I am a big fan too.
The MS-DOS version I played is referenced as Amiga version. Never heard Amiga before, but I'm pretty sure I started it from DOS. prince.exe 😵💫
Nice. What a cool idea for a video. My first version was the Master System one.
Thanks you!

@@retrosutra Haha, sorry! It's a pretty impressive version of the game, considering the power (or lack of) of the VIC-20.
Princess is really big in Amstrad version LOL
and I found princess in Atrai XL is really big in some other way. 😅
This is great video ❤
genesis ending the best 🍰
It's not my favorite but it's an interesting variation.
Who knew that the final battle against Jaffar in the FM Towns, Sharp X68000, TurboGrafx-CD, and Sega CD versions are the same as the PC-98 version😅
I would like to know what were the people behind the Sega remake and the later Xbox360 and PS3 and java thinking to decide to show a Princess as they did.
I think this game has most ports ever.
And rightfully deserved!
Excellent! Well done!!
I F*&%ing love this game!
