@local joe the wheels you’re riding are the regular classics. the OG classics are the conicalisj wheel. they have the same graphics but very different shape
Red are not the softest. All stock bushings are the same durometer. The old rebuild kit that had red bushings and washers was 90A, which is stock. The old ones in the tube were 97A, which is hard. So you're riding either stock or hard bushings.
As a kid, I also skated whatever I could for as long as I could, now I have board madness as well, been trying different set ups lately and I’ve become pretty comfortable with an 8.25 primitive board, 5.6 Venture Hi’s, 52mm spitfire F4 tablets, I typically love lower trucks but they don’t work well with boards that have shorter wheelbases and the 8.25 primitive board has a 14” wheelbase
I choose my trucks depending on the board I'm riding. My pop suffers greatly on thunders, and most of the twin tail shapes out there have larger wheelbases and more importantly, longer tails. Thunders are the better choice there. If I'm on a regular board with a smaller tail like 6.5 and below.. Ace all the way. The extra ride height and fulcrum/Axel moving inwards makes the leverage feel perfect to me, and I prefer the grind and turn much more. Currently getting used to Thunder team hollows and a habitat twin tail.
I always look forward to your videos! I am a total skate nerd. The madness is real! I’ve redrilled my truck holes on my baseplates to adjust pop timing.
You’re the first one I’ve run into who also experiences those days where everything is slightly off and tightening the trucks a little helps reset your pop and timing. I struggle with it a lot.
I appreciate being exposed to your board neuroses because they broaden my perspectives. For me, I’m 36 and I don’t get the greatest consistency in my frequency or length of sessions at the moment. So what I value above all else is robustness. I need to be able to have a good session at the drop of a hat on whatever equipment I have available and with the time I have allotted. So I try to actively not care about that stuff. One exception is I’ve found I like steeper concave as well so when I can I go for that type of shape.
I'm finally starting to feel comfortable on a board again after 7 years and now the weather isnt really compromising with me or allowing me to enjoy it.
back 5s are looking goood! and for my hardware just go take one of the nuts to a hardware store and buy a whole box of nylocks for like 6 bucks every time they start coming loose just change out the nuts
watching you progress is insane. some clean ass back bigspins, I'm currently trying to learn them regular and switch but both are difficult in their own right
Currently having wheel madness. Those are the classic I think. Im riding the ogs now and came from 47 classics(were52). Those wheels took a moment to get used to😂
Believe in yourselves and each other and never give up on your dreams and aspirations and remember to be kind and uplifting to each other and open minded and genuine and respectful.
Adult money ftw! I haven’t found the perfect shape or setup yet. But currently I’d say around 32.25-32.5 length, 7”/6.75” nose/tail, 14.5” wheelbase, 8.5” width on 54mm Dragon V4s/Spitfire Conical Fulls and on 55 Ace AF1s with Hard replacement bushings that are medium tigth. AF1s on Hards for me still turn very, very good but are still stable enough to get a good and controlled pop. But I’m still searching for that perfect setup. I really like the AF1s though. I’ve tried Ventures, Thunders, Indies and Tensors as well but none turn as good as the AF1s while still being as stable as they are. It’s always a trade off. I don’t feel like the AF1s really sacrifice anything. I like Roam grip that I got with a deck a while back. Very large grain and apparently made for longboards but it feels like it barely loses any grip for the longest while. Bearings I’ll ride anything but Super Reds or Race Reds last me forever. I go with Enjoi Little Buddies hardware 7/8 Phillips. Lots of colours and I buy several packs so I can always match the bolts to the setup. Oh and I like Dwindle R7 decks. Stiffness for ages and ages unlike any other I’ve skated.
ive skated the twin tail decks for around a year or soo now, and just found a flight deck thats almost a twin tail and it is most def my new favorite board. a lil more pricy but damn it has pop
I've been doing this since im 36 and just got back into skating in 2020 after about a 15 yr break , im trying bones wheels and ventures , I came back riding tensors and still love them but wanted to try them as sewa rides them
There is an OG fix for your truck twist. Take your trucks off and put grip tape on the bottom and punch them through, lock them back down and the grip stops your trucks from ever twisting again, you are welcome.
I tried leaving my new indy trucks alone and not tighten after crushing the top bushing the fiest day. Then my front truck almost fell out. The kingpin nut was so loose rattling around i just thought it was my wheels or hardware. Nope the trucks screwed themselves completely loose.
I’m 6’5” 210-215. 40 year old too. I can ride the standard 90A bushings that most trucks come with and they feel super great for turning but I do feel like my stability suffers. Currently riding Ace AF1s with their own replacement hard bushings (94A) and a smidgen tightare than the nut being flush with the kingpin and I’ve got to say I am surprised by how stable AND turny they still feel. Was riding Titanium Indies before that with 96A yellow bushings and they felt very stable but the turn wasn’t as great as the Aces.
Idk how people ride thunders. They just aren’t responsive enough for me. Venture for life. If I had to ride anything other than venture it would be tensor.
Thunder bushings are one of the worse I´ve ever tried. I change them without even try. Tried two times on two different trucks and their material is really bad. Worst than the stock Independent ones, wich are bad too. For me bones or similar with better uretane are the way to go. No break in period and they response as a bushing should. Just got your favourite hardness and forget about it.
Idk about that. Switching up different parts can hinder your muscle memory, not all the time but sometimes (I know from experience). It’s better to find that perfect setup and stick with it but we as skateboard get curious and what to try other things, which is nothing wrong with that.
I think it’s just relative to your body. I know dudes that are older who’s knees don’t have issues like mine I think it’s more about how your body feels not the number
@local joe the wheels you’re riding are the regular classics. the OG classics are the conicalisj wheel. they have the same graphics but very different shape
these are not OG Classics but regular Classics, the OG Classics are Spitfire's widest wheel I think

I hope that all is well for everyone here and I hope that you all have a great day today.

Loving the editing here!
The skating or the talking?
I'm finally starting to feel comfortable on a board again after 7 years and now the weather isnt really compromising with me or allowing me to enjoy it.
One of the biggest regrets of my life is quitting skateboarding for all those years
It's like relearning at this point 7 years feels more like a decade than I could have imagined

I love your channel. Thank you for what you do and everything you have done and your contribution to skateboarding and RUclips.
Please make a trick tip on big flips, that one looked flawless 👌

Wheelbases feel really important to me lately
Ventures have even more stable and higher angle crook than Thunders btw 🤫 Also they dont feel that much different than Thunders when you switch
I've been doing this since im 36 and just got back into skating in 2020 after about a 15 yr break , im trying bones wheels and ventures , I came back riding tensors and still love them but wanted to try them as sewa rides them
Those are Spitfire F4 Classics not OG classics , two different shapes
You were shredding
A question do you use the Ishod wair washer hack?
Yea I do forgot to mention that in the moment
I would like to try thunder 149 hollow lights. Maybe a 8.25 deck on my 149 standard thunders
There is an OG fix for your truck twist. Take your trucks off and put grip tape on the bottom and punch them through, lock them back down and the grip stops your trucks from ever twisting again, you are welcome.
I used to be a thunder guy. I now have ace af1 and I think they turn better then thunder after the first week in my opinion
Try out the new lock ins
I feel like tablets skate and pinch better because they are really slim but they feel like a wider wheel 😅🤣
I tried leaving my new indy trucks alone and not tighten after crushing the top bushing the fiest day. Then my front truck almost fell out. The kingpin nut was so loose rattling around i just thought it was my wheels or hardware. Nope the trucks screwed themselves completely loose.
Never give up.
hi my name is Kameron Judd i heard you went to salt lake city for the street league. iwas woundering if you live in utah?
i just like wide and low trucks (silvers) with small white wheels
I've been looking into bushings lately as a 5'9 200 pound 40 year old I'm sure it matters
I’m 6’5” 210-215. 40 year old too. I can ride the standard 90A bushings that most trucks come with and they feel super great for turning but I do feel like my stability suffers.

151 thunders 8.5 real twin ishod or pop cycle 53 mm classics bones bearings mob grip
I ride thunders but have to change the bushings if not they Crack rather quickly that's the only thing I dislike about thunder
Bones mediun bushings babyy
OG Classics are a different shape, those are just the "Classics"
Quantum's are awesome especially around here with all the dust!
I would love to skate with you someday.
Idk how people ride thunders. They just aren’t responsive enough for me. Venture for life. If I had to ride anything other than venture it would be tensor.

Thunder rebuild kit red (soft)blue(medium)black(hard)
Quantum bearings are ass. Mine got shitty after like two weeks
Did you pop the shields or did you leave them on?
@@sk8mafia214 I popped them out like I do with all my bearings
Shorty's hardware is good quality and cheap
Me too l have like 5 board l still l have problem probably l back to my root old school board 😂😂
52 formula four classics are the best. 99a is better for street spots.
Imo you progress if you try different skate brands
Idk about that. Switching up different parts can hinder your muscle memory, not all the time but sometimes (I know from experience). It’s better to find that perfect setup and stick with it but we as skateboard get curious and what to try other things, which is nothing wrong with that.
This^ I still regret changing the brand every time i needed a new board😭
Philips hardware is original Allen hardware is the new generation
What if you get older but still do not have that “adult money” as you say
Who cares if u like the tight or loose. Nijah one of the best and hes supet tight.
Quantum bearings are so good
Who cares what people think, just be YOU….
like like like, like like like like, like like, like like like like? like like like like!

I think it’s just relative to your body. I know dudes that are older who’s knees don’t have issues like mine I think it’s more about how your body feels not the number
You need more skateboarding in your videos dude you talk way too much
