Cool video and you look like young Nathan Fillion, LOL! I also like these Pathfinders, been looking for used ones but we mostly get diesels here in my country. Sadly, the older 174hp diesel with 5 speed auto gearbox is rather clumsy combination. I got to test drive a 4-litre V6 petrol once, it was much better but the one I drove had something seriously wrong with exhaust maybe, due to insane boom noise coming from the rear during acceleration, echoing like crazy around the cabin. The diesels were improved during the facelift (2009 or 2010 I think), with 190hp off that 2.5-litre unit and a 3-litre V6 diesel was also introduced with better 6 speed auto. Downside with those is, I can't find used ones for sale in my country and if I do, the prices are on par with same age and mileage Land Rover Discovery 3s (I believe you in US call it LR3), which would be my no. 1 choice. The LR3 has more room and it rides better, but Pathfinder is cheaper to run. BTW, I live in a country where it's chilly or freezing for at least 6 months a year, so heated seats are a must here. And at the same time, leather upholstery insanely uncomfortable. ;-)
Nice review. I really wish my Armada came with heated seats like yours. When I brought the truck I said I didn't care about the extra features. That was a lie lol. I'm a huge fan of information display.

Through 2012, the rear drive Pathfinders only had transmission issues from coolant leaking into the trans case. Not sure what the fix is to prevent but worth looking into before getting trans serviced.
Transmission cooler bypass from the radiator is the easy free fix. They have two transmission coolers. One in the radiator and another in front. Bypass the one in the radiator is the easy fix. I have two a 06 and a 07. Thinking about buying another one today for a spare.

I fell in love with this car when i saw it in a video a while back and im now looking to find one. Unfortunately where im from, it never released here so i need to import it. Its dangerous to fall in love with a car. One question, can you use Bluetooth on this to listen to music from your phone?
A common Nissan transmission problem with the Xterra and the Pathfinder is that the transmission cooler lines break and release transmission fluid into the radiator fluid. Look up SMOD Xterra. I have a 2008 LE V8 just bought it February 14th and I absolutely love it. I'm a die hard Nissan fanatic I drive a 2005 manual Daytona blue 350z convertible, 2008 Pathfinder, and 2006 Scion xB for reliability purposes. Loved the video man it was great, super chill. CHANGE THE RADIATOR ASAP BEFORE SNY PROBLEMS ARISE!
The seals in the radiator leak thus ruining the transmission. That's why you replace the factory radiator for an aftermarket one like you mentioned or you bypass the transmission cooler lines running into the radiator completely as an alternative fix.

We don't have very many of these Pathfinders in NZ because the D40 it is based upon was a pile of garbage. The Hilux Surf/Prado offerings from Toyota, pretty much blew these into the weeds. l also think the USA version was a better vehicle than the versions the rest of the planet was offered. Fuel economy was also lacking from the V6 which is important when you are paying $2.50/litre petrol. 80,000 miles works out to about 128,000 ks so it is still early days for this car. Prado's and Surfs typically manage 500,000kms (300,000mls) in NZ.
Honestly I don't know too much about Honda Pilots but I do know that, at least around these years, the pathfinders and pilots are very similar. Like I said in the video, our pathfinder has been super reliable for us nothing has really broke, we just have had to keep up with maintenance(oil changes, fluid changes, tires, brakes). I do think both pilots and pathfinders can be reliable tho, very similar SUVs.
I’ve heard great things about Honda Pilots overall, but we do love our Pathfinder. I think many of the specifics are very comparable, so it may come down to mileage, price, preferred color etc depending on what you find in the market. Hope this helps!
Honda Pilots have a timing belt and I'm not a fan of that due to price of having to replace it. The recommended interval is every 100k miles, or 7 years. At anywhere between $800-$1500 for the job, I highly prefer timing chain. Just make sure to do the trans cooler upgrade and the pathfinder it 1000x more reliable hands down. For gas mileage however, the pilot has it hands down and can still haul a little , just 2k lbs less than the Pathfinder. Just depends on your needs really but both solid overall vehicles.
Ant's Car Reviews the cvt didn’t hit the Pathfinder until it went modern. I think 2013. Before the newer model year was the Titan 5 speed. Very good unit. Until the radiator leaked and SMOD.
This suv is pretty fast to me lol. I put some mods on mine and I’m just at 300 Horsepower hitting 60 barely under 7 seconds. Very fast for a 3rd row frontier lol.

Nope except the trans fluid leak into radiator issue…replace the radiator and if maintained this truck can last at least 300k miles. My dad gave me 2005 Pathfinder with 87k miles. He rarely drives. I love driving around town and highway driving is smooth. I did the tuneup and maintenance my dad only did fluid changes. I spent $2500 on parts to do a full tuneup, replace all fluids, brakes and replaced suspension struts and shocks. This beast will last me a long time. It is super roomy and can carry anything with the rear seats folded.
u don't know what you're talking about. the newer pathfinders from 2013 onward has cvt transmission. the 2012 and older have automatic or manual transmission which are 4 wheel or 2 wheel drive, not front wheel drive.

Transmission cooler bypass from the radiator is the easy free fix. They have two transmission coolers. One in the radiator and another in front. Bypass the one in the radiator is the easy fix. I have two a 06 and a 07. Thinking about buying another one today for a spare.
@@89s10blazer89 Wish I'd kept mine. Other than going through tires it was one of the most trouble-free vehicles I ever owned.
Simply replace the radiator on all model year 2005-2010. A decent radiator costs $110.
this one looks rugged, boxy, muscular ,cool looking front grill
this can find the path
new one just looks the path
Lmao, I like that comparison
I have a 2008 4x4 and it is very capable we love it
Awesome!
Folks please be sure to replace the radiator on any 2005-2010 model ASAP. These transmissions are very durable but will self destruct quickly if a faulty radiator leaks coolant into the tranny via the ATF heat exchanger. This is known as SMOD. When I bought my '08 I had the radiator replaced the very next day after I brought it home.
I fell in love with this car when i saw it in a video a while back and im now looking to find one. Unfortunately where im from, it never released here so i need to import it. Its dangerous to fall in love with a car. One question, can you use Bluetooth on this to listen to music from your phone?
I just got this car and I use an aux cord to play my music from my phone. It doesn’t have Bluetooth.

@@ahlter9 Probably, I hope this helped!! :)
My Nissan Pathfinder has 158,000 miles and transmission is still going.

Right now we are looking at a Pilots, of around the same year. How do you think they compare?
Honestly I don't know too much about Honda Pilots but I do know that, at least around these years, the pathfinders and pilots are very similar. Like I said in the video, our pathfinder has been super reliable for us nothing has really broke, we just have had to keep up with maintenance(oil changes, fluid changes, tires, brakes). I do think both pilots and pathfinders can be reliable tho, very similar SUVs.
The pilots may have the edge in a more durable transmission because I do know that the Pathfinders have the infamous Nissan CVT transmission
Oh damn!! That's awesome lol
Ant's Car Reviews Yup I love this 4.0 V6, the cabin sound is worth the gas mileage lol. Hope you get to enjoy yours till 100k without a trans issue

I have a 2011 LE with 150,xxx. I love it and no major issues! But I did have to replace the battery fuse last week and now I'm having issues with my intelligent key fob. Any suggestions????
Battery may need to be replaced.
I have a lifetime battery replacement with Batteries+
Im looking at buying a 06 or 08 for daily family beater. How reliable would you say it has been for you?
So far, very reliable!
Your trans will be fine, you have a traditional 5 speed, nothing to do with CVT in Altima and Maxima.
Nissan radiator's had a problem with cracking inside. Mixing transmission fluid and engine coolant. Check if you have separate trans cooler.
All of these have both an external cooler and a heat exchanger internal to the radiator. Any 2005-2010 that is still on original radiator is running on borrowed time. Simply replace the radiator.
It’s a gas guzzler but the last reliable SUV from Nissan.
This is my favourite car 🚘
I got latest one of these dinosaurs. Its 12 and got only 56K at 2022. I'm keeping it forever ! WHat do you guys think ?
Congrats!
Mileage is AWESOME for a 10+ year old vehicle.
107K miles on mine which I purchased last month.
Previous owner took pristine care of the interior & exterior!!!
@@qwammienewsome1357 Good. I usually put 2K per year and do annual full synth oil change. Changed all the fluids also at 50K.
heated seats can be a help whenever you are sore
And those early mornings or evenings in winter!
Has anybody ever told you that you say the words "definitely" and "actually" a lot?
If I had a quarter for every time you said the word "actually" in this clip, I could afford to make a purchase offer on your Pathfinder. 😉
Lmao this made me laugh. This was one of my first videos I ever made so I cringe too when I hear myself talk on this video, but check out some of my new videos for better commentary lol
I have 08 pathfinder, love it

Best SUV, hands down
amazing handling for a tall vehicle
This car was the last beautiful Pathfinder, after 12 its just fat and ugly. The only thing I dont like about my 07 Pathfinder is the heavy steering.
I agree, I really love this body style pathfinder and I am glad my parents picked it up for our family SUV!
I thought I was the only one with heavy steering. I hate that.
The last body on frame Pathfinder
Anyone experience any reliability issues with this vehicle? I am thinking of getting one
These don’t have weak CVT transmissions like the passenger cars.
Does this model have 4 cylinders?
These yrs r only 6 or 8 cyl..
do you think 2 mountain bikes fit in the cargo area?
Not upright. You would have to lay them down, one on top of the other.🚴🏻♂️
Saves gas?
"Actually."
It’s a 5.6L V8 in the LE, not a 5.8L
The reason Nissan car’s transmissions go out is because they’re CVT vs traditional transmissions
u don't know what you're talking about. the newer pathfinders from 2013 onward has cvt transmission. the 2012 and older have automatic or manual transmission which are 4 wheel or 2 wheel drive, not front wheel drive.
nissan's cvt suck, yours is a torque converter, it is solid
I dislike heated seats. If there's one part of my body that overheats first its my butt. Dont need extra heat there. Wife loves it though.
Completely agree lol!
