If it wasn't for you and Toast I wouldn't be playing Beat Saber and and making my own Beat Saber content I just wanna say thank you for inspiring me to play this amazing game
Your content made me realise how much more fun it was to play if I didn’t play optimally (stiff arms, big wrist movements), but instead used my full body and turned the beatmaps into a dance routine instead! So thank you!
Personally, seeing your videos made me want to play them. you have this thing, this way of playing, the choreography which really makes you want to watch and also do the same things with much less elegance lol. thank you in any case for giving the desire to play again at more than 44 years old;)
@@Berninman Yeah but it's not the same. I bought the lady gaga pack before I modded and the song packs made by beat saber are way better made than the modded ones
Nowadays there's enough content in the game itself, yeah through DLCs, but still. At the beginning though, it was indeed the community made maps that significantly increased the appeal of the game. I doubt I would've bought the Quest when I did (almost two years ago) if it wasn't for the ability to mod Beat Saber on it. So yeah, thank you modders!
Still, mods really saved the game, the DLC's are fun don't get me wrong but it costs lot of money to get everything for what ? Special background ? You can download all of those on BMBF and the mapping is sometimes even better !
You were the first person I saw play beat saber maybe a year ago or 2? But then I recently got back into it again and I love finding my favorite songs from different people. This is probably the main reason I want to get a VR headset and buy beat saber!!
Absolutely. I only found out about Beat Saber through modded song levels on RUclips. It's the entire reason I have my VR Headset right now. The base game is fine, but I see plenty of people who find the levels too easy or don't want to pay for the DLC packs, which is completely fair imo. I haven't modded my game YET, because I'm still enjoying the base levels and I've grown to love the original music, but I'll definitely be giving the custom levels a go once I get around to doing it
I have bought myself a room tracking system and two controllers just to play this game. And after i found the camera plugin, added a custom avatar and the ability record me playing my favourite song adds such a great value to this hole experience. Next thing i want to try is a mixed VR green screen setup 😀
It's about time someone tackled this topic, thanks for this. The mod community is what makes this game something that can be played for years (I'm up to 3,000 hours of practice and gameplay over the last 3 years now). Wouldn't have been possible without the community and mods. Still waiting for maul ranked though ;_;
Sing it Naysy!!!! Beat Saber is the first game I modded on Quest and your video showed me how. I tell people in FB how much fun it is and you get people who act like its wrong to do this. Thanks for making this video. Hopefully it will help smooth some of the rough edges around Modding.
I've barely touched Beatsaber since I discovered Synth Riders. Ironically, it was Beatsaber mods breaking every update that finally turned me off for good.
What you’re talking about is actually even more prevalent for Audica: VR Rhythm Shooter. You see, Beat Saber would still receive updates to little by little add more features, more songs, etc. However Audica doesn’t get ANY updates anymore, and thus your title would be 100% true there, modding did save Audica. Now this is very cool in general, how much modding a game can add to the experience, and even if modding isn’t your thing, just the fact that so many people work on custom songs is insane. That goes for any VR Rhythm; from Beat Saber, Audica, Synth Riders to the less played ones such as Ragnaröck, Groove Gunner and Audio Trip. Custom songs is what make these games what they are, sure they are fun without it as well, but as you said, most people would probably uninstall the games without new content; specifically new songs. Review on video: Overall a very good video, although biased you clearly explain why in such a way that an uneducated (on the subject) person would understand why you think the way you do. And you do have a lot of good points. Last but not least I have a question: You’ve found a great deal of positives regarding modding, specifically regarding Beat Saber modding, now what would the downsides perhaps be in your opinion??
The Beat Saber devs need to be more aggressive in adding new songs… The audio and mapping quality in some custom songs can be a little spotty, most of them are *good* but it would still be nice to support the developers and the original creators…
Beat Saber on PlayStation, with no custom songs available, feels like a demo version. I hope, that the Quest 2 or its successor will be legally available in Germany someday…
I live in Germany too! I'd suggest making a UK Amazon account and ordering from there as that's the cheapest and easiest way of getting a Quest 2 currently
I'm planning on buying Beatsaber after I buy a PSVR 2 👀 Kinda sad there's no modding on consoles but if I ever build a PC I'll be sure to get a VR for that too! When... I can afford it 😳
Agree modding has added longevity to the game but that original vanilla release was pretty special compared to the competition. Jaroslav Beck had made some pretty unique and fun beats that fit the game perfectly. I didn't really like a lot of the music on those competing products.
Love the mods! Just wish the main game itself would stop getting updates for a bit so the modding community could catch up. I have mine locked down not to update at all and I'm on version 1.13. Won't update till mods have had a chance to catch up.
I brought beat sabre after seeing gmy friend play Mr blue sky.... Was a hard hit when the song was not there but thx for saving me with ur quest custom song video. Games with great communities last forever.
Agreed! If Beat Saber didn't have all the custom tracks I would have deleted it long ago, the campaign was dumb as well...being forced to miss notes was so annoying as I feel most players want to fc songs.
Haha like her that was my first experience with modding, removing the nude blur from Sims. I think by Sims 2 I truly made it an adult game via mods haha
I've had my O2 for a few months now and have watched your video on "Play Custom Songs" about 20 times.... After watching this vid, I need to bite the bullet and give it a go this weekend!.... Cant wait for some Dua Lipa maps...
Great video. I wouldn't call it a stretch to say that mods carried Beat Saber to its current #1 VR spot. Though the mods are amazing, if I want to play songs that are available as DLC from Lada Gaga or Billie Eilish, for example, I still buy their respective music packs just to still support the game. Otherwise it feels wrong to download a copy-map for free. It's not necessary at all for anyone to do, but I was hoping you'd mention something along these lines
I do wish there was more normal / hard songs. A lot of the good songs I would like to get are expert or expert+ only. My children don’t have much of a selection on easy / normal.
For the next video could you please do an *UPDATED* version of how to mod beat saber on quest 2 no pc it would help out a lot! Because I’ve been trying all these tutorials on how to do it and they are just outdated so pls if you could!
Then they should officially allow custom songs or at least make it easier to add new songs, because they recently disabled that with the newest update…
One question! I wanted to mod my oculus and if I did decided to post the music playing it. What about the copyright issue RUclips wise? I always wonder how some people can post modded music unless it’s copyright free ☺️
I saw that you were able to get the new music pack from beat saber. There is a new fall out boy pack. Is there a way to get the new music pack on my mod device?
As a fellow VR enthusiast, i would totally say that had that MODDING community NOT stepped up, Beat Saber would have been DEAD inside of 1 year due to the reason you stated - only playing the same 37 songs gets real old, real quick.
Are all the mods super hard like the ones u play, or are there still different difficulties? I can beat every song on expert except the camilos songs or whatever that pack is called, but I don’t think that’s good enough for what u do haha.
Hey naysy!! I am gonna get quest 2 soon as a birthday gift, I love rhythm games like osu and I wanna play anime songs on beat saber, will modding beat saber affect the other games ?
So I just followed your tutorial on how to mod beatsaber on the oculus and have been having *so* much fun playing custom songs! But the mods like Noodle extension and Chroma say they require you to have 1.17.1... and I can't get them to successfully sync to my very slightly older game.
