Gosh - this channel is full of surprises. What a complete treat to see an old lifeboat from my own birth year. Many thanks for another super trip.

@@sailingskismo It was indeed a treat to meet him - an affable and generous fellow. He told the story which you had touched on in the other video, about the rescue on day 1, with such flair - blood flooding out of a great gash and streaming down onto the beard; a kind of macabre Psalm 133. (Joke)
Best wishes sir - Paul, Royton.

That was extra special Simon. Thankz for sharing. I’ve been honored by touring the Light Ship “Columbia” which was a crewed boat off the Columbia River in the Pacific between Washington n Oregon State USA.
My boss at Washington Natural Gas Co was crew on this ship when it was in active service.. love seeing n learning this stuff no matter what region they are or were.
    Cheers, Nick.

Thanks Nick for your comment, yes this was quite a special opportunity, shame the weather was absolutely awful but nothing one can do about that. Thanks for watching :)

It is very interesting to see how technology has moved on, the most surprising thing to me is how slow it is. Great boat with a great skipper!

The thing that struck me was how clearly uncomfortable it must have been for those unfortunate enough to have had to use it! Thanks for watching :)

@@sailingskismothe double ender lifeboats were actually very stable sea boats.
