    I don’t know about the garden hose issue and hurting the impeller. I couldn’t even use our water because our pressure was less than 20 psi. I brought the psi up to just enough that the engine will piss while running, up to 55 psi. I need all of that pressure for running my engine.

  • @fishhunt9874
    @fishhunt9874 Год назад

    My 2014 9.9 has blown the same water pipe 3 times. This hose springs a leak and sprays a mist of salt water that gets sucked into the carburetor. The engine starts running a little erratically, and then eventually will not run and becomes a hard/no start. I’ve had to remove and clean the carburetor three times. It clogs completely with salt, about a quarter of a teaspoon in the fuel bowl. All of the fuel jets clogged with salt. I only replace with genuine Yamaha parts, but in this case, the same part keeps failing. My next replacement will either be a stainless steel pipe with rubber ends for connections. Or a heavier duty, braided piece of fuel hose instead of the thin rubber OEM “pipe” supplied from Yamaha.

  • @yeslawrence
    @yeslawrence 2 года назад

    anyone just pop that metal plate off while the carb is still connected to the motor and just clean that part of the carb/jets with carb or brake cleaner? seems like that might work though if its not too bad and just needs a little clean up.

    In short durations, without water, would it tear fins off water pump impellar?

    • @johngraham8052
      @johngraham8052 3 года назад +1

      It's bad. Impellers are a replacement item and many people replace each season. If you want to make yours last don't but I would recommend learning how to replace it anyway, it's easy. Get a large drum and fill it with water and put the leg in if you don't want to buy the correct attachment. If you ran for 10 seconds without water you could overheat and damage the head.

    • @stevenichols4060

      @@watercool5 would be awesome if you could do the video because I have a long extension but cannot line it up because the plastic air intake is directly in line with the bolt head. I even tried that pivoting head socket but no good angle to use it either. Every time I have to use wrench from side and back it off at micro intervals and it takes way too long.

    • @johngraham8052
      @johngraham8052 3 года назад

      @@TheBluceRee Are you sure it isn't the carb. If you can get the engine running on easystart, petrol you know you have spark and compression. If you have fiddled with the carbs it is best resetting the high and low jets to factory speck (turns out) and then adjusting from there to get a crisp idle and good pull. Plenty of free manuals on-line. I followed the Dangar marine videos and learned how to fix everything on my 2-stroke Yamaha 25. Did you check the compression and what engine?

      @@CAPTAINWILLY thanks for the info, ive been researching the removal and reinstall process for hours as well as the right impeller for my engine but coming up bupkis, cant seem to find a video or proper part number at all its getting frustrating. 88 mercury 2 stroke 90 hp outboard, ran the serial number and model number and nothing will give me a straight answer smh. Im certain I can do the impeller procedure if I could just be sure im getting the right impeller, its just removing the lower unit bolts sliding it off with drive shaft removing the water pump cover and reinstall turning it clockwise to make sure the veins spin the right way as you reinstall the cover, the other part ill have to figure out with the carb issue afterward. Idk bought the boat because I thought it had a good engine, totally gutted the interior and redid the entire thing top to bottom myself with new wood and vinyl in less than 3 weeks and here I am doing exactly what I didn't want to do, deal with engine problems.
