    RIP Charles Grodin. You were one of the greats. Midnight Run is one of the best-acted comedies of all time...the "new watch" scene gets me in the feels every time.

    Charles was always one of my favourite comedic actors. His dry and near monotone delivery is priceless at times.

    Charles Grodin is one of the best guests on late night TV because he has a character that he plays on TV at late night. And he and Johnny Carson were very good friends and played poker together so they're banter was just to play for the audience

    I remember watching when he was on and thinking, what a jerk...my dad, on the other hand, was laughing his butt off. Took me a few more years to catch up. Great guest

    One of my greatest pleasures is watching Midnight Run whenever it comes on TV, because Charles Grodin is brilliant in it. He is a hilarious human being!!

    The Heartbreak Kid is one of the funniest (darkly funny) movies ever made and Grodin was magic in that. He’s hilarious in all these old Carson and Letterman appearances too. Loved him!

    He is such a depressive person. I enjoyed watching him as an actor growing up. Fun to watch him get angry when acting in a movie. He plays those roles perfectly. The movie was called clifford with Martin short. Such a funny movie.

    Charles looks pretty good for 50 yrs old here. Hard to believe he's 12 years older than Dave. Born in 1935, he was always a lot older than I thought.

      He had a cameo in De Niro's recent "The Comedian" and age has really caught up with him. Probably has to do with being relatively inactive the last decade.

    Charles Grodin was a unique persona that embodied an outlook that wasn’t concerned with promotion or topical references in other words money. I miss those days and people like him. He was so great in Heaven Can Wait the Warren Beatty version with Dyan Cannon and Julie Christie. Ironic and cynical, but only for humors sake. An original in a time when originality was allowed to flourish.

    Grodin is the guy who also played Uncle Martin in Clifford (1994) with Martin Short.

    Gotta love Dave's outburst of laughter when Charles asks him if the Academy has ever asked him to host the Academy Awards. Or when Charles said he guessed that's why all those people were lined up outside to see Dave's show and Dave was like "Well they're not here to sit in on Live at 5:00 .... or the NBC Nightly News with Tom Brokaw. They don't have a studio audience up there". LMAO

    Dave wasn't as quick as johnny and I don't think the crowd was as ready to laugh as in the Johnny Carson and Grodin dry bit banter.

    If you read Charles Grodin's book entitled "It Would Be So Nice If You Weren't Here," getting the film "Movers and Shakers" made was a multi-year long struggle and it did not end up doing well financially or critically. This appearance of a downbeat Charles Grodin seems more real or genuine in this light.

    When Grodin did Carson, Carson was trying to create too much of a battle of wits. When Dave introduced Grodin, note how gracious and complementary he was, Grodin wasn't going to react like with Carson.
