    Thanks for the great video and instructions. Just did my 125 lawn tractor. Used a heat gun to warm old dust boots, came right off using one of those paint can openers with a hook to pull them off. A right angle pair of needle nose pliers to remove the Cir Clips. Removed both wheels, cleaned off the old grease. Found little wear on the bushings and spindles so I greased and re-assembled. Oddly one side had an inner washer and one side didn't but both have the same amount of in out play when put back together.

    Thanks for the video, gave me the confidence to do it myself. Took about hour and half to change to bearings and to replace both axles. Had to change my gloves 3 times as it was a greasy job. Mine was a L-130 but process is the same. Drives like it has power steering now, I think better than new and it is over 20 years old. : )

    Hi, great video. How many hours would these tractors have clocked upuntil the bushings and steering joint need replaced? I bought an x155r with 1005 hrs on it and the steering and wheels are very wobbly in all directions. thanks

    • @JohnsonsSmallEngines
      @JohnsonsSmallEngines  2 дня назад +1

      It all depends on how the machine was taking care of. I do not know anything about the X155R as it must not be sold on the eastern US. I can say that any 100 series machines I have seen over 500hrs. are in need of a lot of service work.

      @@JohnsonsSmallEngines Thankyou for your quick reply. After looking at it today I think I need to replace all the steering joints along with the front wheel bushings and axles. I will repaint the deck, replace both belts and service the motor then hopefully it should be fine. Written on the oil filter it says last oil change was at 760 hrs in 2021. I used a heat gun to remove the dust boot and it made it a lot easier.

    • @JohnsonsSmallEngines
      @JohnsonsSmallEngines  2 года назад

      If you have grease fittings on your front wheels?? but I don’t think you have grease fittings. You have roller bearings so they are not greasable. Jack up the front end and spin the tires. If the bearings sound loud then replace them.

    • @JohnsonsSmallEngines

      Correct. What comes out were bushings without bearings. Check out in the link description below the video. The kit has bearings in it so you can change from bushings to bearings

    great video. i replaced the front wheels/tires with Manastars from amazon. for the first tire i didn ot realize there were 2 thicknesses of washers. I put the thick one on first, then wheel, but no room for external washer before the clip. removed wheel, but the thick washer is inside the cup looking thing. how can i get the washer out to replace it with the thinner one so the exterior washer before the clip will fit on. thank you again. Susan

      If the washer is not stuck, you can try using a magnet to pull it out or some kind of pic may help.

    • @wankerdoodle8516
      @wankerdoodle8516 2 года назад

      @@JohnsonsSmallEngines Thank you for advice, the oversized washer has been removed. Tried two ceramic block magnets on either side of the stuck washer, did not budge. Took another look around the garage, saw a box that said "soldering equipment" on it, took it thinking I could attach 2 pull handles, did not work. Then thought about the grease and how it had probably set up over the winter, took the soldering iron and warmed up the washer for a good bit and found two picks and was able to work the over sized washer out. Thank you for magnet suggestion, it got me back in the mode of fixing my mess-up.
