- Running 5w from two POTA parks near Melbourne CBD. The first park had not been activated before while the second was under Melbourne's iconic West Gate Bridge. While not the quietest spot on received it proved to be a good transmitting site with contact with France established on 40m SSB.

Excellent work Peter. Pleased you called in to me and Dave on 20m. Great to hear you on your portable station. Its a pity the path between us was not a little better. I was operating on the old wooden pier at Blyth in Northumberland about 1200 feet out over the seawater. I'm on the North East coast of the UK overlooking the North Sea so facing the wrong direction for long path so great to hear you calling in on your QRP portable station. Looking forward to the next time. 73...David M0DAD
Wow France! Congrats. I think that is near where the CSR Ormiston used to dock?? Maybe? It was somewhere near Yarraville...was always too drunk to remember! 73 enjoyed the video.
Another excellent session Peter... Great to work you again from my bike mobile... Dave G4AKC
Great presentation. thankyou Peter.
Contacting Europe with 5 watts under a bridge in Melbourne, the absolute chad
The unactivated park got me curious. Lo and behold there's one further upstream from your first, Yarra Valley parklands AU-7628. There's probably a good reason why it has never been activated, 100kV high tension lines run through the park! Nevertheless, I live within the same 6-digit maidenhead grid square, so I suppose I should get off my bum and activate it 😛
I tried activating that park a day after it was published, too much interference and I didn't get a single contact lol
Hello Peter. I am very curious about the what I assume are chopping boards and how you are using them. Have you done any videos showing your setup.
Must use my 817nd more often!
Found your video, thanks you very useful
Me again. What antenna were you using?
