Got to love the way coach Tomlin lays it out straight and raw for his players.
"The Standard is the Standard" - is more than an often repeated Tomlinism.
But it's more than a simple cliché; much more than an empty slogan.
It's an expectation. A level of greatness to strive to live up to.
An expectation that was laid down by those many great players, who suited up
before today. Do honor onto them and bring your best everyday you represent
the Black 'n Gold. Coach Tomlin understands, represents and expects that.

I really want the Steelers to get hard knocks one year ( have no clue the qualifications for something like that lol )
They would have to finish with a really bad record towards the bottom of the league to qualify for Hard Knocks that's why they're never selected for it
Actually, if you miss the playoffs two years in a row you qualify to be on hard knocks. So hopefully we never qualify because the NFL will pick the Pittsburgh Steelers if we ever miss the playoffs two years in a row.

Can you even FATHOM that there is an entire legion of Steelers "fans" out there that want this man gone? It's absolutely MIND NUMBING to think how any sane person would think like that. They bitch and whine like they expect to be in the Superbowl every year. It's HARD to win Superbowls. They want the Steelers to become one of those teams (AKA: BROWNS) that turn over coaches and coordinators every couple of years and expect that will bring Superbowls. DOESN'T work. I love the Steelers, and I love Mike Tomlin...but I'll tell you what. If you're making the kind of money even the 3rd stringers are making (league minimum is ~$1 million I think) you BETTER be able to stay awake for a 60min meeting! I don't care if it's Mr. Rogers or Bob Ross talking in that melodic soothing tone lulling you to sleep with your eyes getting heavy. For $1 million you best find a way to keep them open...anything less is an insult to the rest of us that don't get treated with even half of the hero worship these NFL players get every day!

Let's see..AB went nuts..Bell went stupid..Shazier went down..Tuitt heart 💔 and quite a few players retired in that stretch. Takes time to reload that type of talent..but I kno- it's Tomlins fault.
I am so happy Rooney gave him a chance because so many people are turned down in a negative manner by color when hiring especially blks in many cases blks have been more qualified but did not get the job or opportunity do to color of they skin or the individual not being comfortable around BLK people but when roles are reversed blks open are door and hearts to everyone

Changing OC after your first round pick QBs rookie season (where he didn’t even get all the QB1 reps) is something bad franchises do. Steelers are way too smart and too traditional to make that mistake. Do I love Canadas play calling all the time, no. But I also trust that the Rooney’s, Khan, and Tomlin know a hell of a lot better than us jagoffs in these comment section.

It's sickening to watch over and over, I can literally predict all our plays before they take place....so the opposing team has to know X 1000. If this season goes bad, as in if no playoffs even, this has to be the end of Matt Canada! I think we can all agree on this, yes!??

I think Mike Tomlin makes some excellent points, let me rephrase them: We fans are being transparent, it's not about what Mike Tomlin is capable of, it's about what he is willing to do and we expect a Super Bowl. Mike Tomlin's excuses are the tools of incompetence. If Mike Tomlin doesn't face enough adversity early on in a season, we the fans will create it. The fans will tolerate Mike Tomlin until we can replace him. That's much better.
Love my Steelers but where does this EXPECT a super bowl come from? It was 26 years between Noll's last super bowl win and Cowher's win. Our last win was what 2008? We're not scheduled to win another SB until 2034. I'm half way joking. But in reality we never had the defense to win a SB after Shazier's injury. You could see where that defense was headed but that set us back years. I think going forward the team will play better in the playoffs. For one thing Pickett doesn't have the added pressure of getting not losing that Ben had.
@@Redtail1725 Defensive minded teams, as of the last 6-7 year, do not do well in the playoffs. A high powered offense is now mandatory to win in the post season. Unless there is some defensive innovations to overcome this, I think that the offensive minded teams will continue to dominate. As of today the Steelers aren't in that class.

8-9 playoff record. 3 home playoff loses in that span. Hasn’t won a playoff game since 2016. That’s not getting it done, I’m sorry. Just a winning season isn’t enough in Pittsburgh. Not saying he is a bad coach but he isn’t elite. Good coach, but hasn’t gotten the job done in terms of his past teams potential (Killer B era). The dude hires bad assistants as well for the most part.

I think Coach T got a lot of help from Kahn this year. I've never seen this much free agent activity ever. This draft class was very impressive also. I was one of those people who was iffy on Tomlin too, but I have to admit he's a lot better than what I gave him credit for. My fault Coach T. Do your thing bruh!!!! 💪👍
