Schiaparelli is definitely the most interesting house at the moment for me. It's art. I always look forward to their shows and they never seem to disappoint; I enjoy every! single! minute! and wish I had at least 95% of each season's pieces. Again I tell you that we are lucky to have you on RUclips. Thanks for sharing your knowledge and making such GREAT videos.
Schiaparelli is the only womens brand I wish made menswear. I'd be first in line! The brand is legendary and went on to inspire my favorite brand, Maison Margiela.
I am just a young adult living in a very small town in the western United States with no sense of fashion, but your videos help me dream and get me excited about fashion, even if it is unattainable to me. Thank you for helping me live a fantasy.
Unattainable to you *right now* who knows what the future may hold! Fashion is such a bright vibrant artistic expression. It is often written off by people that don't understand it as trivial and inconsequential, but it is so important. ❤
im so happy that Schiaparelli is back! I was so interested in the brand before and saddened that it closed so im thrilled its back, and what a beautiful brand it is. I wish I could afford there clothes lol. I really hope that they re-launch there ''shocking' perfume, it really intrigues me
I'm so glad they found a designer that could capture the original spirit of the brand. Yet another designer that succeeded though hard work and belief in her work. I find it especially interesting how directly her work was inspired (quite literally sometimes) from the art movements of the day which one could argue were the most consequential of all time. Dadaism, Art Nouveau, Surrealism. I'm really surprised there isn't a more direct link to art movements in fashion. It seems like it would be a natural fit. I look forward to the biography. It will be an achievement if you do half as well as the last one!
Well, she really didn't see herself as a collaborator of those art movements so much as part of it. She really considered her work as sculpture and wanted it to be taken seriously as art. Noone since has really taken it as seriously as her, its a real shame that it wasn't until decades later that fashion became acceptable to experience in art galleries, because really I think she would have seen that as the best place for her work Im currently working on two biographies, one on McQueen and one on Schiap, obviously from this you can tell Im already several books deep in research for Elsa, but shes so mysterious that its fascinating to try to read through so much just to get a morsel of information (which is often exaggerated by her) its brilliant, such an icon, a genius
She believed it was art too. Lots of people talk about her as a designer that worked with artists and thats just not how she saw herself at all. She didnt ‘include’ their art, she was part of it and made art with them together
The rise and rise of Schiaparelli is very pleasing to me. This is such a great video and an amazing breakdown in the history of the House, so amazing. Her legacy lives on.
I agree, she was a fascinating creative, not very good at the business side, but because of her extraordinary talent, she managed to thrive nonetheless, its quite astounding
I have adored Schiaparelli ever since I stumbled upon a cute little Schiaparelli hat, still nestled in its iconic shocking pink box, in my grandmother's attic. I was so thrilled when I heard it was to be resurrected & patiently waited through their issues early on. I am delighted with Daniel Roseberry! He clearly has a deep, profound respect for Schiap himself & is an excellent designer to take up her bejewelled & embroidered mantle.
Once again phenomenal job. What caught my eyes was this collection, I wonder now how many other brands were sleeping beauties. Thank you for your craft.
Thank you so much, and there are a shocking amount of sleeping beauties. You wouldn’t even believe have already started on videos for a couple, but there are far far far more.
Schiaparelli was the very first fashion brand I learned about when I started becoming interested in high fashion, clothing, and styling! Elsa herself was also the first house founder and fashion figure I learned about, so I have a lot of love for Schiaparelli overall :) I loved this video, very informative because it taught me a few things I didn’t even know! I really can’t wait to see where the brand goes in the next few years
The collection is mostly digital these days, I used to get them all second hand when my mum and nan would go to charity shops and car boot sales, but nowadays its trickier to find them cheap. I started reaching out to authors actually because I go through so many and some have been SO GOOD!
Congratulations this was so cool, accuratelly informative of what is couture and a house that literally will save Haute Couture as an industry of expertise with the highest talent in any past, present or future collaborations an d human skill ❤

my favourite designers actually change often, but a real standout over my life has been JW Anderson. I watched his first show, I own two pieces (now destroyed) from his second collection. I dedicated my time when I had no money just to experience his clothing, I love his work and journey. That being said, I love so many brands which are more subject to change, Magliano, Palomo Spain, Paco Rabanne, Kimbiki (a very small Korean designer), Simone Rochas, obviously Comme, Ganryu, I like my own clothes a lot, Vaquera, I ALWAYS adore graduate shows, the list really is endless (I guess hence my broad enough knowledge to make a YT channel out of it)
Hi understitsch,, Will Schiaparelli brand come back from the dead ? this depend from Art critics in London. Is any artists living in the world today that can come up to level of three surreal artist that worked with Elsa ? The artists were Man Ray, Salvatore Dali and Andre Breton. With no disrespect to Daniel Roseberry. Elsa did not worked alone.
Actually Elsa did work alone, she was already a surrealist artist by the time she began wokring with other artists and she argued for years that she should be measured on her own merits, not by those of her friends. She argued she made art as valid as the men she was associated with andreally thoight the comparisons were close minded. Really its a shame then that history also painted her with that brush, its quite unnecessary
Hi Understitsch, thank you so much for reveal another secret. you are right . She an artist and classical one at that by using Tromp L eol. She is very good judging by her sweater design. Once a man gets little bit of money they start put women artist down.. There a rift between them that never healed.
According to every RUclips video essay made, everyone with a first and last name has had “rise and fall”, so it’s difficult to judge whether any valid points are being made 😵💫
I don’t know.. how’s to feel for Schiaperalli For me Schiaperalli vintage garment is iconic in fashion industy because it is real encapsulate strong essence for surrealism; encapsulate to wearable form. Like the real movement in surrealism that strongly attached to era similar to Chanel with Military style. But that art movement.. are faded. We now in another era. Don’t know.. how to feel about this..
I feel so the opposite, theres a really strong return in surrealist fashion with all of the trompe l’oeil we are seeing. Sciap were the pioneers of that, it seems only right that they share in the return
Just my opinion - maybe don't show those literature (its really hard to read those words on the phone anyway) but shows more photos of the clothes please!
Elsa Schiaparelli was ahead of her time. I love her designs and I’ve been a fan of the brand since even before Daniel Roseberry took over as Creative Director. It makes me very happy to see that this brand has been so successful under the direction of Daniel, who really understands the house codes that Elsa established.
Unfortunately I genuinely think that if Elsa was to try to start her busienss again today how she ran it back then it would fail in a heartbeat. Theres nowhere near enough grace as she needed to make it big (I mean financially), the way the company finances were back then was atrocious, no auditing, no budgets whatsoever, it was wild. Literally her business went bankrupt and she didn't notice at one point (or maybe she chose not to notice to keep the people she was protecting safe, this was during the war years after all)
The autobiography is featured a lot in this video, it’s a really interesting read, but quite difficult if it’s your first book on her, because it requires some pre-knowledge of her business and herself
@@understitchYT I watched a documentary of and I wanted to read more about her because she seemed complexed but very straight forward and I couldn’t help but indulge. The reading is a bit steep but at least I pace myself with all background info.
I believe Elsa Schiaparelli is the greatest designer ever lived. And Daniel Roseberry is her true reincarnation, what he is doing now is pure art.

Daniel did his homework. He was humble enough to recognise that what mattered was the brand's DNA if he was going to make it successful once again.
Yes, exactly, he was concerned with the brand history and wanted it to work in a modern contwxt more than he wanted to be famous
I love Daniel Roseberry’s work at Schiaparelli. His designs match the DNA of the brand.
I agree so hot today, I think he’s a really fantastic piece of the puzzle for the brand

Ok I love your vids, like they are very informative and teach me a lot about the brand, but I have a question for you what was/is your favorite designer of all, because mine are Schiaparelli and 90s Mugler, and me wanting to go to fashion school these two are my inspiration
my favourite designers actually change often, but a real standout over my life has been JW Anderson. I watched his first show, I own two pieces (now destroyed) from his second collection. I dedicated my time when I had no money just to experience his clothing, I love his work and journey. That being said, I love so many brands which are more subject to change, Magliano, Palomo Spain, Paco Rabanne, Kimbiki (a very small Korean designer), Simone Rochas, obviously Comme, Ganryu, I like my own clothes a lot, Vaquera, I ALWAYS adore graduate shows, the list really is endless (I guess hence my broad enough knowledge to make a YT channel out of it)
Hi understitsch,,
Will Schiaparelli brand come back from the dead ? this depend from Art critics in London.
Schiaparelli opening for fashion week is the correct choice for fashion week
And what an iconic collection too
Amazin!!!😀
thank you so much!
Schiaparelli was huge before the lady gaga inauguration gown.
9:51 💔🥚
According to every RUclips video essay made, everyone with a first and last name has had “rise and fall”, so it’s difficult to judge whether any valid points are being made 😵💫
This one is rise and rise, so very valid 😂

What fall?
Who said fall?
I was expecting Ms Taylor Russell to be part of the thumbnail 😢
The other 18 celebrities will have to suffice, sorry
I don’t know.. how’s to feel for Schiaperalli
For me Schiaperalli vintage garment is iconic in fashion industy because it is real encapsulate strong essence for surrealism; encapsulate to wearable form.
Thank you for your opinion
❤❤❤
💖💖💖
Did she have kids? Are her descendants alive
If any of you are rich enough to afford any of Daniels (IMO) monstrosities, good luck actually wearing them
You sound like Haute LeMode :)
Isnt Luke american?
Boring commentator.
I thank you 🕴️
quite that the brand needs to use h0es like cards and doja
Literally her business went bankrupt and she didn't notice at one point (or maybe she chose not to notice to keep the people she was protecting safe, this was during the war years after all)
Another one to make my heart sing and I literally just bought her autobiography and the fashion book her highlights of surrealism touches. 🥹
