Love his "the show must continue" attitude. James is a Master!
30+ years of rocking, broken arms, burned into cinders....a slight fall into the stage doesn't mean shit to Hetfield. lol
His guitar was out of tune after, it took the hit for him!
This is what I like about James, he carries that "The show must go on" mentality that so many artists don't have today. Despite his obvious frustrations, and possibly being in a lot of pain, he kept going and tried not to let it hinder the performance, much like during the Grammy's when the microphone wasn't working. It's stuff like this that makes James my favorite member of Metallica.

James was lucky, the guitar took the brunt of the impact from the looks of it. The guitar hit the edge of the stage and he hit the guitar mostly instead of going full force into the edge of the podium.
It was clearly painful from his reaction, at first he didn't move at all. He didn't even attempt to get up until the roadies got there.
I had a perfect view of it from where I was in the stadium, but I was enjoying the show instead of recording.

I saw a bloopers video that had the clip of him falling through the stage from a different angle. He didn't fall as far as some people here are saying. It looked like his upper body landed on the stage. It looked funny and he has since been quoted as saying that It didn't hurt his body as much as it hurt his pride. Good on him for staying out there and finishing the show. Axl would have thrown the mic down and walked off.
What would have been really embarrassing is if he fell in the hole while he was singing lol.
