It’s very cryptic in its lyrics while I feel like blink in their current line up are quite the opposite. I definitely agree with you Rockyourassed, and it’s just more enjoyable to listen to that then blinks current simplistic lyrics. Just something amazing to the the way Tom writes and his voice too, his songs , the way he puts music and lyric together, makes me feel nostalgia like I get when relistening to the blink albums I listened to as a kid, which it’s pretty special to elicit that in another I think... that might just be me

Fun fact: When this came out, DeLonge said that New World was prototypical of the direction he wanted to go with blink after Neighboorhoods. And while I do understand why he was kicked out (let's be real, he never was into the reunion stuff and how they recorded neighborhoods proved that), I also have to say that I prefer this sound any day over whatever the fuck John Feldman is responsible for with blink ever since.
he wasn't kicked out 0_0...should read up more..his music career with AVA was thriving while the other members were too busy with family life. while tom wanted to still make music so he did what he wanted to do and if i was him i wouldnt wanna go back to blink either. i love blink don't get me wrong but i will always be a fan of tom too. blink is all going their seperate ways now too again slowly. it would be cool to see them reunite again just for the sake of old times. but tom has went way bigger and grew out on his own with ava. his visual of lyrics and heartfelt sound stays the same and i love it.

Not only Tom expresses his feelings of his departure but also releases that anger by destroying the drum set and bass, a very clear message for Travis and Mark. Finally, him destroying the musical equipment to me represents him turning his back on the past and musical career, to prioritize his alien related projects. He is adventuring into this New World
The irony with that is that both this EP and Neighborhoods sound more like "blink" than anything they've released post-2015. I'm not saying California and Nine are awful records, because they're not. It's still Mark and Travis and Matt Skiba is a great songwriter in his own right. But it's not the blink we know and love.
It has made me realize Tom was the creative drive behind Blink, musically and lyrically. California is pop music, cliche lyrics with no soul it disappointed me a lot...

This is why Tom DeLonge is not a part of Blink-182 anymore. Just heard this for the first time yesterday. When Blink split in early 2000s, I strongly preferred Box Car Racer and AVA over +44. And Tom's solo project so far seems more dominant than Blink's new album. As lead singles, this song is way better than Bored To Death. I'm interested to see how the rest of Blink's album sounds.

This kinda sounds like Box Car Racer, which makes me happy.
This is why Tom DeLonge is not a part of Blink-182 anymore. Just heard this for the first time yesterday. When Blink split in early 2000s, I strongly preferred Box Car Racer and AVA over +44. And Tom's solo project so far seems more dominant than Blink's new album. As lead singles, this song is way better than Bored To Death. I'm interested to see how the rest of Blink's album sounds.
