It’s Ukrainian language and costumes- these are our modernised national clothes from different parts of Ukraine. And unique musical instruments are also our national instruments. Thank you for your amazing reaction video and for sharing our culture too. Lots of love ❤️❤from 🇺🇦🇺🇦❤
I'm so glad you liked this! She's a Ukrainian singer and some of the outfits are traditional to Ukraine. The bridge is also my favorite part. I have listened to this song on repeat so many times in the last few years and I always find myself getting lost in it. Also, to save you and anyone else the trouble, the translated lyrics: [Verse] Where high mountains I fly freely Where deep waters I swim freely [Chorus] I fly in the sky I fly freely in the sky My melody is strong [Verse] Where high mountains I fly freely Where deep waters I swim freely [Chorus] I fly in the sky I fly in the sky I fly in the sky The melody is mine The melody is mine [Outro] The wind freezes as the sun reaches its zenith And I am me The wind freezes as the sun reaches its zenith And I am me, and I am me, and I am me The wind freezes as the sun reaches its zenith
Dude....this was badass!! Great beat, great vocals, and a really cool video. I don't usually listen to pop music like this, but I'm adding this one to my Playlist. Great stiluff.
The costumes really blew me away. I used to make fantasy costumes. These were exquisite. the coulors, stunning. And the headpieces, so elaborate. Oh and before a forget, the music was magical.
Their costumes are a modern stylization of Ukrainian folk costumes from different regions of Ukraine. With the addition of authentic elements. It's the same with musical instruments. Exclusive folk Ukrainian instruments in a modern presentation.
Since you asked ... they're singing in Ukrainian. Onuka means "granddaughter", and the band was named this way because the singer's grandfather was a craftsman who made traditional Ukrainian instruments. He was the first musical influence in her life, and he instilled in her a love of the textures (both physical and sonic) of musical instruments. This love quite often shows through in the band's work, even at times when they veer off quite heavily into electronica. So conceptually, the name signifies that they're the "granddaughters" of the timeless musical education that was passed down to them from previous generations. I hope that's helpful 🙂
This is ukrainian music ❤ 😊 For the full experience, you can watch Onuka Interval Act on Eurovision in Ukraine. Enjoy:) I loved your Jinjer reactions, and now Onuka - WOW!
I really enjoyed that. The song kept me moving forward into it, and the images were beautiful. I'm going to go back and listen again because I don't think I caught all of the visuals.
Thank you for this reaction. I like her live performance (especially in Winter Palace). Omuka used traditional and modern instruments to create music. Great reaction as always
Thank you! I love songs and videos like this where they blend the ancient, the traditional and the new. I looked them up and here's Wikipedia's intro: "ONUKA (literally: granddaughter) is a Ukrainian electro-folk band. Widely considered to be Ukraine's spiritual successor to Kraftwerk, successfully bringing together the ancient & modern. In similar cultural parallels to Kraftwerk creating a modern vision of a new national sound. The project was created in 2013. The band's instrumentation includes electronic drums, trombones, French horns and Ukrainian folk instruments bandura and sopilka."
Thank Tommy, this was fun, always enjoy discovering new different music like this and the costumes were really badass! :D I'll definitley check them out on spotify. Oh and speaking of unkown artists- I can warmly recommend illion with the song Miracle and the hand drawn video hits deep. Would love to see people give that artist more love :)
Onuka is amazing, and each of their videos is a piece of art in its own way. Check their videos "Time", "PEREMOHA" (Victory), "Vidlik", "Guma" for starters. Their live guest performance with NAONI orchestra at Eurovision 2017 is a special treat: I guarantee, you have never heard such a brilliant blend of electronic music and Ukrainian folk instrument (ONUKA & NAONI - Interval Act at Eurovision Song Contest Grand Final 2017).👏👍 Enjoy!

The song isn't about Ukrainian culture. It was about all cultures of the world. Some costumes are from Asia and some are from Africa.

Onuka is amazing at combining folk with modern, making something very unique. She is from Chernihiv region, northern Ukraine🫀

Yea, I need to go back thru and watch. This was visually stunning.
Modern folks starve for roots, onuka is one of the singers, who connects you to those, no matter where you are from.
that intro!
that was really crazy good, and all this microbeats and sounds!
