    4:37 - That 'feature' was a bit unexpected.

    No do focus on the bad aspects this will help make a more informed decision . So far I like this printer but was very pleased to know the little extras needed to make it work better

    I have one. It took me a lot of tinkering. An upgrades but now its great. Its now got a pei bed, 1300w full size bed heater, bl touch and all metal hot end. Im probably gonna switch to a g10 bed and direct drive soon. Definetly lower the jerk and acceleration for the y axis.

    • @Spacekriek

      Makes sense to lower the acceleration for the Y axis considering the inertia of that massive build platform. I could not help but wonder how much longer a large print will take that already might take days to complete. Then again, it would be a good idea to use a 0.6 or 0.8 nozzle to speed things up !

    Just a quick note. The inductive sensors I have heard change their values with different temps so your z offset may need changing depending on type of filament being used if the bed temp changes based on filament used. I have a bltouch for this reason but havent installed it yet.
    Also, I could be wrong but the controller for the heater looks like a relay type which is not the best type to use due to so many on/off cycles. If however it controls a seperate SSR (instead of using a relay) then you'll be fine.

    • @RemainIndoors
      @RemainIndoors  3 года назад

      Inductive sensors don't really have that problem as they're less affected by temperature. Capacitive sensors, on the other hand, are a nightmare. If the sensitivity is set wrong, you can trigger them by putting your hand within 6 inches of the hot end. I've tested a few. I'll never use them again. I do like the BLTouch as I have one on a few of my other printers, but they're generally more expensive and a little more work to setup.
      I do have my concerns about the silicone heater I installed as it doesn't have much documentation and could possibly get stuck in an on position, which would be a problem if there's no safety mechanism built in, but it's been fine so far, so I intend to keep my eye on it.
      Thanks for the tips

    Hey! I was lucky to be able to buy used s5 for 300€ . Could you do a video talking about the upgrades you did a d how you did it? Would appreciate it a lot

    Thanks for talking me out of buying this printer, for now. I've been using a friends Prusa i3 and am looking for my first printer. The Prusa is a little small and a lot expensive. The CR10 line was attractive, but I think an Ender 3 V2 will do for now, and I can throw an Ender-Extender at it if and when I'm ready. That won't get me 500mm, but like you pointed out a printer that big is better used for ocassional really big prints. The daily stuff I print will fit fine on the Ender 3 for now.

    • @RemainIndoors
      @RemainIndoors  3 года назад +1

      Yeah, I definitely wouldn't recommend the CR10 S5 as a first printer. the normal CR-10S isn't a bad printer really, it doesn't have a lot of the problems that the S5 has, but if you're not looking to regularly print big things, you're probably better off going with something like the Ender 3.

      I do want to print some bigger things, but I'm starting to think about a big printer like a swimming pool, the best one belongs to a buddy. 😁

    How far out is the CoreXY conversion. I will be looking forward to that.

      Probably not for another couple of months. I think I'll have to buy some extra parts, and it's not really in the budget this month.

  • @radeklukas

    I was just deciding between the TronXY and this. Any thoughts why you went this route?
    To get the price out of the way, TronXY X5SA-500 Pro is about 100$ cheaper. I lean a bit more towards the CoreXY paradigm from the sense of stability (and hence faster printing) and ease of making it enclosed. But I am fully aware of the mixed bad reviews of TronXY and quite a good track record of Creality, which makes me undecided.
    I am willing to get my hands dirty, so I am willing to mod both of them to some extent. Which mainly the TronXY woiuld need.
    Any thoughts?

      When I bought this printer a few months ago, this one was about 250 dollars cheaper than the TronXY X5SA-500 Pro - I actually wanted that printer, because CoreXY would have been considerably more stable and compact. I think I only went with the CR-10 because it was cheaper, and like I said in the video, "it appeals to my need to fix things that aren't broken" - or in other words, makes for more things I can make videos about.
      In terms of quality for Creality printers, this is my third CR-10. I still have all 3, and I'd like to say I haven't had any problems with them, but none of them are in the same state they left the factory, so my experience probably isn't the best to go on. The S5 in this video had some nice features like the firmware's fail safe mode and the filament runout sensor, but The fact that it's basically useless for anything that prints outside of the heated bed size is kind of annoying. I'm not sure how that compares to the TronXY. I looked at it before making this video, but I haven't watched any reviews.

      @@RemainIndoors Well there is a sale on Banggood right now for 699USD if you can be servised by czech warehouse. Maybe a chance 😁.
      I am watching all reviews I can get my hands on and the reviews are quite mixed. Starting with the frame and drive system inaccuracies to cheap electronics. From what I gathered, The frame of the Pro versions should be stiff enough, but you basically have to fix the electronics to make it work properly and even remove some safety issues.
      Concerning S5. Was the filament run out and fail safe out of the box and was you printer purchased as standard CR-10 S5? I also watched how @Proper Printing made it "kinda" CoreXY in respect of reducing the momentum mass by this quite easy mod. ruclips.net/video/zjXgxJJmE4U/видео.html

      sorry, RUclips blocked your comment for the link, so I didn't see it until just now. Yeah, the filament runout sensor and fail safe came standard on the S5 that I ordered anyway. It has some weird quirks though. the firmware takes up a lot of space on the board, which seems to cause some occasional errors like the x or y axis not homing entirely. I changed the firmware to install an auto bed leveling sensor and it still seems to be having some issues. Could just be a problem on my printer though. But that video sounds interesting, thanks I'll have to check it out.

    Hi, can you help me and a buddy. We can not figure out and install the print head in relation to the glass plate.
    This is our first 3D printer, maybe this one is more intended for users who have had a smaller 3D printer before :-)
