Ever since I was a kid, I have been able to separate different parts of a song as I'm listening to it, from the percussion to the bass to the guitar, keyboard, etc. I could listen to this over and over again. It's food to my ears. I can't get enough of this. What an insane genius you have, Kent Nishimura, and what an inspiration you are to so many musicians out there. Wow! Just, wow!
I think no other fingerstyle player can top this arrangement and performance with the same song. This playstyle is on another level. His right hand is a cyborg. 😀
These harmonics!!! Regular people have left and right sides to their brain. Kent has left, right, north, south, east, west, top, bottom, and more. It's simply amazing what you do!
His playing so amazingly vivid and accurate that certain parts brought me right back to being a kid blasting this song in my hallway on my stereo. Genuinely one of the best players in the world

question: I´m 18 and i can cover songs like this in 1 to 2 weeks i can also play like mike dawes (one by metallica) etc. but in the last 2 years i havent played the guitar because of the lack of motivation. I now go to the gym. should i keep playing guitar and start yt? I have no music theory skills.
It's evident he possesses a deep understanding of music! This rendition showcases not only his technical prowess but also his innate creativity & ability to think outside the box. It's impressive to witness such an incredible display of musical talent from someone so young. This arrangement leaves a lasting impact, making us appreciate the song in an entirely different way.
Wow. Even the first 25 seconds of this song seem completely out of the reach of anyone I know. Tapping harmonics with the right hand while strumming and working the fretboard with the left hand, and everything timed perfectly. Incredible!
Maaan the precision on his picking fingers is unreal. To keep the resonance and depth on those picks without dampening the other chords is unreal, then throw in the percussion to boot. To say this man is talented is in an understatement. Annnd hes only getting started.
I know a lot of people can probably play this on a technical level, but to come up with the arrangement is a different kind of skill and this may be perfection.
Moving the capo up one fret was a clever one for the modulation. I knew within 5 seconds of playing this it was going to be a beauitful rendition. One of the best I've heard in a long time sir, well done.
I've been on RUclips for over a decade and I rarely comment on things. Your brain is superior to a normal human being. To be able to play the melody, to harmonize it and have some chords over it with beats? My mind is blown.
Another reason why I love your arrangements, Kent, is because other guitarists, particular jazz musicians, reharmonize and add so much to the song that I can't even tell what's going on. I don't understand any of the complex, over-the-top intellectual musical stuff going, and that's coming from someone who has a basic grasp of music theory already. I love how sweet and concise your covers are-- nothing overly intellectual or jazzy, just the good ol' song perfectly recreated, with all the details, as the original sounds. Keep doing what you do!
other (jazz) guitarist cannot do this .. this guy is totally unique.. we are witnessing something really special here..ive been playing guitar over 45 years and have seen a lot of the great (fingerstyle) players but no one can come close to this guy... just compare tuck andress his version.. then u know what i mean
As someone who was trained for years in jazz I completely agree. I respect this style so much because of the musical intricacies and harmony arrangement, Not just dissonant bs that’s purposefully avant- grade
Your opinion isn't a reflection on jazz though, it's a reflection on your own simple tastes. Preferring comic books to Michaelangelo doesn't make him less of a master.
Just came back to listen to this after 11 days and noticed Kents gained 2k subscribers. C'mon everyone, let's share this and get him the attention he deserves.
Wait wait wait wait, he shifts the capo up at 2:47 and then proceeds to play an octave up?! That's nuts. I didn't even notice until my second watch it was so smooth.
I think the reason why Kent only have 250k+ subscribers is because only few people nowadays appreciate "OLD BUT GOLD MUSIC" like this. Thank you so much Kent. I'm a silent but avid follower of you since this channel has 9k subs 2 years ago. Never missed a single upload without viewing it multiple times. Soon the world will appreciate you even more! Ooof. The kick drum with the wrist, the capo jump at the key change, the syncopation, co-ordination and dynamics throughout... This is brilliantly arranged, impressive technically and beautifully performed. All my hats off to you. Keep em coming.
Want to point out the harmonics at the beginning, the groove, the clever combination of melody and harmony on a single instrument, the dynamics … the whole bloody thing. Spectacular!
Where you are, I may never get there. But you give me something to strive for. In the mean time, I get to listen to the most amazing fingerstyle arrangements by the most gifted guitarist I've ever seen and heard anywhere. Thank you!
became obsessed guitar when I watched SRV's "Texas Flood" live at El Mocambo performance back in 2007. watching Kent this past year is the only other time I've been truly in awe of someone playing guitar. a lot of amazing players out there today, but this man is a legendary talent. hope we all realize what we're witnessing here
@@hailtothe_rooster1572 Kent's skillset is so finely tuned that 90% of the most amazing acoustic guitarists would find it "nearly impossible" (meaning simply, lots of practice needed) Not that there's a *best* way to play. I certainly enjoy it. I find Kent's ability to emulate an original song's sound within his style to be truly special.
This whole performance was incredible, as always. But I feel the need to mention this specifically: that was the smoothest capo slide I have ever seen! Literally, a “blink and you miss it” skill you’ve just shown us. I cannot get enough of seeing your immense talent grow more and more each time, and I can’t wait for the next one! Thank you so much for all the joy and wonder you bring to anyone who listens!

Although I was aware of the pitch shift in the song I wasn't expecting you to quickly adjust the capo and not miss a single note. Bravo my friend.
Kent continues to amaze. I can't imagine what it's like to be listening to the radio and be like, 'oh, yeah, I can arrange that into a perfect solo acoustic piece' and then execute like this. A joy to behold.
holy smokes. the independence of the various parts is absolutely mind-blowing... and all this with such a relaxed/laid-back groove/feel... as has been said many times before, Kent is on an entirely different level... one can only wonder what his future will bring...

Ooof. The kick drum with the wrist, the capo jump at the key change, the syncopation, co-ordination and dynamics throughout... This is brilliantly arranged, impressive technically and beautifully performed. All my hats off to you. Keep em coming.
Not only are you rocking this song..you playing with emotion..I feel every second...tears in my eyes
Want to point out the harmonics at the beginning, the groove, the clever combination of melody and harmony on a single instrument, the dynamics … the whole bloody thing. Spectacular!
Just speechless. At this point there's really no words to describe how amazing Kent's playing is.
If MJ was still around to hear this he would have absolutely loved it. Thank you for this.
He has the best playlist among the fingerstyle players.
100% agree
Oh absolutely! There's not even a close second.
There are two types of people on this world. People who dont know kent, and people who absolutely adore kent
No matter how many times I watch this I’m more amazed every time.
The song is what matters the most when history looks back, and you just did a virtuosic performance of it. Magical!
I’m sharing this with my whole family! My mom was the biggest Michael Jackson fan and still is and you are-just wow!!! 🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰
As always Kent showing why he is one of the best fingerstyles of planet.
この曲の優しさと強さが演奏に出ていますねー。感動してしまったー 不覚にも涙がー
The best thing I've heard on Fingerstyle so far!!!
Where you are, I may never get there. But you give me something to strive for. In the mean time, I get to listen to the most amazing fingerstyle arrangements by the most gifted guitarist I've ever seen and heard anywhere. Thank you!
became obsessed guitar when I watched SRV's "Texas Flood" live at El Mocambo performance back in 2007. watching Kent this past year is the only other time I've been truly in awe of someone playing guitar. a lot of amazing players out there today, but this man is a legendary talent. hope we all realize what we're witnessing here
I don't know if most people realise that it is next to impossible to play the way he does. Just crazy brilliant!
Ive played for nearly 30 years,,,, I have the upmost respect for Kent.
I could learn this in 7 mins 🙄😂
If he does it… then it’s not next to impossible.
Difficulty is subjective and only based on personal skill set.
@@hailtothe_rooster1572 Kent's skillset is so finely tuned that 90% of the most amazing acoustic guitarists would find it "nearly impossible" (meaning simply, lots of practice needed)
Not that there's a *best* way to play. I certainly enjoy it. I find Kent's ability to emulate an original song's sound within his style to be truly special.
@@sravasaksitam yes in your dreams lol
MJのいちばん好きな曲。やべっ、涙でてきた。
He effortlessly plays the big drum on the beat with his right wrist, also. Just fantastic.
Utterly Amazing. Precise. Complete. 💯
That capo slide was obvious. You wanna be impressed, check this one out:

@@michaelz6555 I was wondering if you were going to link the rock with you vid.
@@michaelz6555 Thanks for the link. I'd forgotten which song he did that move on. Just watched it again, smooth as butter.
@@michaelz6555 there's also this one which i like ruclips.net/video/CqkNZm31h2M/видео.html
@@michaelz6555 kinda crazy they both happen right at 2:47...
I would imagine this would have to be 10 out of 10 on the guitar difficulty scale. There is no way to overstay how talented this guy is
Getting goosebumbs while listening to this.
Kent, you combine an immersive technical fluency with such FEEL and TOUCH. You give your tunes that deep groove without sacrificing lightness. I am so glad I happened upon your video today and will continue following your channel. 🙏💜🇺🇸
You gotta go back and watch everything else. They're literally *all* this good. It's hard to pick a favorite.
This man is on another level that many can't even dream of reaching! That 0:46 ohh! An all in one package!!!
Absolutely is on another level. Neither Misko, neither Alip ba ta, It's dificult for others fingerstyles to reach the perfection like this.
Incredible KENT!!! TE cgp.
It is a great honor to hear that from a true guitar maestro, Tommy-san.
you know you've made it when Tommy Emmanuel is all up in your feed! Congrats Kent
MR.TOMMY!! yess
👏
@@KentNishimuraGuitar I'm sorry, but I'm not sure this is a real account from Tommy. :/ But nevertheless, he is proud, because he has mentioned you in other interviews.
I never was and probably never will be a MJ fan, but god damn I really have admit that he made some incredible songs.
The grove at the 4 minute mark is outstanding. Had to bob my head along with Kent. Such a special performance
Yup, that groove is AMAZING !!
Oh my God. HE MOVED THE CAPO MID SONG lol. Ken this is one of my favorite songs from Michael Jackson and one of my favorites from you. This is incredible.
A joy to behold.
holy smokes. the independence of the various parts is absolutely mind-blowing... and all this with such a relaxed/laid-back groove/feel... as has been said many times before, Kent is on an entirely different level... one can only wonder what his future will bring...
i tried to tab some songs, but the parts all seem like they were pieced from different songs. kent makes them all fit harmoniously into one song >_
There are few superlatives I can say that everyone else before me hasn't already said... Kent your incredible talent never ceases to amaze. Thank you.
You are such a beautiful soul and musician. Thankful to be on the same planet with you. You make me proud of humanity and all the beauty we can make.
Tuck Andress had a great arrangement for this but this is equally awesome!!! Playing the harmonics even at the start of the verse blew me away! Brought me to tears! AMAZING!!!
This version is way better but I love Tuck as well
