  • In today's video we will learn how to determine the moment of inertia about the y-axis of the "I" section.
    The first thing to note before calculating the moment of inertia is whether we know the location of the centroid of the section or whether we will have to determine it. In the problem in question, we know its location because it is a symmetrical section.
    Next, note that the section is composed of three rectangles, so we have to determine the moment of inertia about the y-axis of each rectangle separately, and only then can we find the moment Iy of the section by the sum of the moments of inertia obtained.
    Iy = Iy1 + Iy2 + Iy3

      sim, por esse motivo a base 200 está elevada na 3

      Sim, é isso mesmo. Se você jogar os números na fórmula, verá que bate: h= 50, b= 200^3.
