Carlist Spain used to be my biggest struggle, then I did it and had so much fun! But then... NSB was released, and all of a sudden I couldn't win again. Thanks to your tutorial I've found myself able to beat it again!
It used to be easier before NSB. You could simply draw fall back lines on several of the important cities where you couldn't get full control with the garrison shit, and grab them that way from the get go.
Appreciate a lot these complete videos with each and every interaction. I'm "advanced" level in hoi4 but still we always learn something with your videos, please continue. Looking at your next challenge with France now
There is a carlist exploit you can do that makes this even easier. If you win as the nationalists before the carlist uprising, the restrictions on your troops don't exist anymore, bc the game still sees you as tlin the civil war. So unlike at the start of the game when you can't delete or edit troops, you can cheese it like a normal civil war, and switch all your divisions to artillery
How would that even work, though? Your divisions like requetes, guardia civil etc don't get dissolved until the civil war is over properly. And there are no new ones created, or are there (through contact union militar espanol, maybe?), so even if it DOES allow you to edit I don't see how that works...
@@mertk_b Easily? Carlist uprising doesn't happen until about very late 37 or even 1938. Before I knew that you could switch to Fascism with the primo de riveira speech spam, that's how I got this achievement. I defeated the Republicans & Anarchists in very early 1937, and rushed for the focus with the France WG, but I waited for Germany to attack Poland so the UK wouldn't send them any troops. I had MONTHS inbetween having to fight the Nationalist/Fascist side and my Carlist side civil war. I also had to build two heavy tank divisions (infantry with 4 heavy tank batallions) to be able to break through, and exploit the breakthrough with a big motorized division and some cavalry. But this was ages ago, before they reworked the game with how you make tanks and the only upgrades you could do was the XP ones where you could upgrade gun, armor, engine and reliability via the + and - buttons.
Grand battle plan probably would have been the better choice for this playthrough. It's better for infantry, and if you wait this long to attack, the planning bonuses are really good to have.

I never watched cars, but that's not how it works. Yes, a HARD countersteer before going where you wanna go helps the car turn in better. It works both for taking corners faster than you otherwise can, and it also helps whip the car around harder if you want to induce a drift. It comes from Rallying and we call it "Scandinavian flick" (technically Finnish, but whatever). So yeah, if you got a left hand corner you wanna take fast, just jerk the wheel briefly to the right and THEN turn the car in to the left. This helps with the weight transfer on the tyres, etc.

Personally I find the best thing to do to end the civil war early as the nationalists is garrisoning your divisions on the southern cities like Sevilla and Valencia. That reduces the surrender limit of the republicans substantially. Then naval invade with AoA to Barcelona and use the war in the north focus to quickly wrap up the north. Garrisoning the south you'll have a ton of encircled troops but the AI will try and staff those frontlines and when you win the north you move all your troops south and mop things up. Usually gets things done in Jan 1937 a few months before the crackdown. I don't really care about securing carlist garrisons for the crackdown cause you start with the same amount of troops anyway and if the crackdown happens after you beat the republicans, it's a free victory no matter what, even if you just have one state cause you have so many more troops than the nationalists. One interesting exploit I've noticed is that if you end up at war with the anarchists, everyone really likes you and you can get really good "strategic interests" diplomacy boosts with everyone. It even lasts after the civil war until you reload the game, so late game you can just invite random countries like saudi arabia and brazil to your faction with tension/improve relations/spy diplo boost. Not sure if this still works in the latest version though.
I like these videos that show everything, that you can follow along with. One tip that I found makes carlist spain a breeze: When your uprising starts make sure that you secured some territory in sevilla and cordoba for nationalist spain. That way the republicans and fascists will commit divisions down there instead of on your border and you can actually gobble up a fair amount of land at the start. My last playthrough I was basically on the door of Madrid before they manage to organise a frontline to fight back.

This is solid, my only suggestion is to position your original army near bilbao so you can attack it with 8/10 divisions while the modifiers are not active yet. Also i would try to steal Barcelona from the republicans with decisions, it will save you from exterminating the guerillas there and will push the anarchists further into the republican territory. Meaning more chaos in their lines. Hence a better chance for you to kill them before the anarchists die.
For example if Portugal united with Brazil and Spain is going to annex that is Brazil going to core of Spain to and for example if this happen and we are using Alfonso and bourbon france with united Iberia it can be France get a lot of core isn't it?
