I decided to film a week in my life of ultra training and just so happened to get off the waitlist for the Leadville Heavy Half! It’s a 15.4 mile race with 3,400 ft of gain and goes up to 13,100 feet at Mosquito Pass. This week was jam packed full of activities, including a volunteer wilderness ranger patrol hike, some training runs, CDT & CT hikers, a Noah Kahan concert, fly fishing & floating on the Colorado River, and more! If you’ve ever wondered what a week in the life of training for an ultra marathon looks like (or are interested in running the Leadville heavy half) then this video is for you!

I enjoyed this format and video. I think it’s always interesting to see just a little of other people’s lives and activities that are part of it. So please do more of these. 7:40 for the last mile? Holy moly! I'm not a trail runner but that seems pretty impressive to me. Especially considering the elevation gain in the first half of the race. I hope you're appropriately proud of yourself. Also, two thumbs up for life organization. Good for you on both counts! Really enjoyed the video. Edit: And would definitely watch more like it.
It was bananas!! It was downhill on nice dirt road so nothing really to watch out for, but still didn't even know I could do a mile that fast these days. I think it helped having the finish as the motivation and people around. And thank you!! So glad you liked it!
